At the moment, PSOne, Game Boy Pocket, GBA SP, GameCube and PS2 Slim.

I have two policies:

- If I can emulate it with considerable accuracy, then I'll emulate it instead of investing in the hardware. PS1 emulation isn't that great, and I don't have the PC specs to attempt GC or PS2 emulation.

- I make a unique exception for handhelds, because I want to have something to play on-the-go.

All of my platforms usually receive equal attention. At the moment, I'm most interested in my Game Boy Pocket.

I'm thinking about investing in a PSP somewhere down the line, if only to use for portable emulation. There are some PSP-exclusive retro compilations that look good too.

NES

PS1
PS2

The only one hooked up now is the PS2 and that's so I can play Street Fighter 3 and some Virtua Fighter. PS1 has been in the closet for a couple decades and I only pull out the (S)NES on a rare as-needed basis since emus are just easier.

What's /vr/'s take on the hardest retro RPG ever made? Can be turn-based, action, whatever.

I would say SaGa Frontier 2. Just getting past the learning curve isn't enough. Every chapter is a point-of-no-return, and the game often hinders grinding by not allowing you to leave dungeons once you enter, stranding you with no way to heal your party or maintain your equipment. Several people have played all the way up to the final dungeon only to have to restart the entire game from scratch because of the extensive preparation that has to be done chapters ahead of time.

>Final Fantasy Legends

Are you referring to the mobile game, or this?

Final Fantasy Legend for Game Boy wasn't too difficult. You could backtrack and grind as much as you wanted, although keeping any humans in your party equipped was certainly expensive.

Briefly. He wasn't interested and she spends a good portion of Disc 1 trying to make him jealous by palling around with Squall.

Either it's been too long since I played FF8, or the details of its story were simply beyond comprehension. Because I don't remember this AT fucking ALL.

Can someone explain to me why everything Nintendo releases via Virtual Console is so dark and washed out looking?

Really it looks so shitty that I feel like this would be a major complaint about the service from most of the userbase, but I rarely ever see anyone who seems to bring it up.

I think it's cause they're afraid of users getting seizures from all the bright colors

just another way neo-nintendo feels it has to babysit their users
>>
>>2827086
Why is it okay for Mario Maker to use bright colors for NES Mario but not have the actual NES game you can download look the same?

Also, source?

How old are we talking about?
I tried to get into Legend of Heroes 1 but it seems too unremarkable.
I enjoyed Xanadu and Ys 1 and 2. Couldn't get into Dragon Slayer or Romancia either.

Man, finished this game just a few days ago.
Great game, catchy music, nice gameplay, interesting plot, what an old gem.

The vs. mode is nice too but my friend would always pick Prometheus and that asshole, while having low mobility can sustain a lot of damage while dealing massive damage and i just don't know how to handle him.

That said, i also think Chrono Trigger is the best SNES game, i love retro games and i never played anything that i could consider better than CT.
>>
>>2826548
That's good for you then, we all have different opinions. I get why CT is popular, but I didn't care for it much.

Good morning fellow gamers,

I'm here to ask and to see if anyone here has a "Top 3" Turn-based RPG games. I have completed majority of the NES/SNES/PS1 Final Fantasy Series, Super Mario RPG, Lost Odyssey, and Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana.

Not a lot, but I would like to know if there are more games similar to these I listed. I am 100% about trying anything out, as the JRPG/RPG is not as complicated or hard anymore. (Grant it I'm 30, been playing since I was a kid haha).

Thanks.

So you are 30 and still want to play childish weebaboo games? I don`t think that should be encouraged.
>>
>>2826431
What are you looking for out of them? More story based or mechanics based?

Anyways, Phantasy Star IV excels at both and is one of the best 16 bit RPGs flat out. The Lunars are good too.

I want a good portable system, something that I can pop my ROMs on. A portable arcade/console emu, along the lines of a GP2x Wiz.

Are there any good ones, or anything along those lines, that anyone here would reccomend?

The goemon team left Konami in 2005 anyway. They made a great swan song for Goemon with the DS game though, a shame it's still untranslated, but it's amazing.

I hope Good Feel gets to make an original IP for once, so far they've only made Nintendo IPs (all good games though). A spiritual successor to Goemon would be good.
Or maybe a rare chance of Konami letting Good Feel make a new Goemon game, but that's highly unlikely. Maybe with the help of Nintendo...

I know there are some Saturn and PS1 emulators that let you put an actual disk in your PC's drive and run it, are there any emulators that do that for the 3DO?
