Why is "Role Playing Card Game" in English if it's only a Japanese game?
>>2801556
Japan loves to write random things in English or stick random English words or sentences into songs. It's kind of the equivalent of English using French words or phrases in an attempt to sound fancy.

Is the cover of an art book good enough for you?
If I were to make a game for a 6th and under-generation system, how difficult would it be compared to using something like Game Maker or Unity? Could it be done as a first project, or would it require significant prior experience?

Let me ask you this: do you have a solid understanding of how computers function from a computer architecture point of view? Do you understand how to map a C program on to assembly? Do you know what interrupts are and how they are used?
If you aren't intimately familiar with concepts like these, fret not, but you need to set the bar a little lower. I would suggest something like GameBoy or SNES.
You can probably find a compiler for a MIPS R3000A, but you will probably need to frequently dip down...

Way more difficult.
Unity is great for dev because it manages an absolutely fuckload of stuff for you and has an easy and user-friendly interface.
The idea of making an NES, SNES or PS1 game is admirable, and I've thought about it (although more Neo-Geo MVS).
The issue is you need to know the architecture well, and a lot of stuff wasn't well documented.
You'd also be coding in assembly or -at best- C in all the old consoles. So you need to be well versed in those, and its way more difficult then C# for Unity.
You can also...

Extremely difficult and exhausting, especially if you've never programmed anything before. It would be fun and totally worth it because I think old systems and all their nuanced limitations are the best, but it has to fit into your schedule
If you go the Game Maker/Unity route, you can jump straight in. If you're planning to make your game in Game Maker first and then make an old console version later then best of luck to you.

anyone still play this game?

GOAT soundtrack
I still play it from time to time. I always liked playing to accomplish something pretty obscure, like run a household with no full time employment, or master each skill.
I recently made a house with 2 parents and six kids. Without cheating, I built a small house, got the parents jobs, and purchased enough decent furniture for everyone. Then I put the game on fast forward to see how long it takes for each Sim to get fired/flunk out of school, fall asleep on the floor, or for the household to go bankrupt and eventually starve.
I got bored with drowning them and...

Never had a computer powerful enough to run it, which is a shame. How much did I miss out on, friends?
Other than the sequel
Goemon's Great Adventure comes to mind

I still have yet to complete this game.
I got to this giant bird, and dropped off at some weird overview map, and lost interest at the time.
How far did I get, and does it stay good?
Wario Land 3 maybe?

How rare are these things nowadays? There's a machine here at a local Chuck E Cheese/Peter Piper Pizza-type place.
Daily reminder that picking Tails is bait and will hurt more than it helps.
Play as Sonic and just get your bro to control Tails when needed to reach certain areas.
Tails was a based companion in Sonic 2.
Nigga used to get some last minute hits on the boss for me in my time of need.
Ps. did anyone else think Tails was a girl until they saw the stupid cartoon?
My waifu....;_;

It's aight, I still think she's a grill.
What does /vr/ think about the first Medal of Honor ?
>>2797701
I thought it was kind of hard to get used to the controls / gameplay at first, but ended up liking it quite a bit. Underground was good, too.
I loved Medal Of Honor: Underground when it first came out.
I tried to play it last year again and discovered the controls are complete shit. Like 007 goldeneye tier crap (i never liked that game, fuck you)
Sad day.

Frontline is the best first level in FPS history.
Motherfucking Omaha Beach.
Or just games you thought were obscure when you were younger.
Made this mosaic years ago.
There's a Socket thread on /vr/ right now but I haven't seen people talk about it for years.
Mines of Titan
Got this one copied on some 5.25" I don't even remember. I could never get far and every attempt to find a guide for this had failed.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.

hi dad
For anyone in LA area:
there's a PVM-1910 for sale in Newhall at $25. Check it out on craigslist.
The guy says "Not pretty, but it works", and I don't exactly know what that means, but it's worth a look I'd imagine.
I'd be driving up there right now if I wasn't living in lower Orange County.

And if anyone grabs this, throw a couple pictures of it our way
When's the last time you looked after yours, /vr/?
I imagine it's still under the seat of the 1984 Chevy Celebrity my father sold twenty years ago.
somewhere in the basement of my parents house, last time I saw it in passing was 04'

I AM A PERFECT SOLDIER!
Yellow Ranger from Growl. Armed him with the whip and you can clear the game in less than 20 minutes.

Oh! Please! Spare my life, and I'll give you anything you want! Drop dead you scum!
Now that I understand what Fallout is really about (a GM-less PnP for your computer) and now that I have a Win98 machine, I want to give it another try. I've got a character in mind, but I'm curious about the papers. Is it worth my time to track down original documentation, or can I get by with a crazy-large printout or something? Anything I should need other than the vault dweller's survival guide and the quick reference sheet?
>>2786967
and I know that I could just go with PDFs or something on a machine, but I strongly prefer physical manuals when I'm going to play a game, especially ones with lengthy documentation.
If you have 10 bucks to spare I recommend just buying Fallout off of GOG. It comes with pretty much everything you could ever need. If not then I recommend looking for the Fallout Bible and GOG scan of the instruction booklet. Don't read the bible until after you've beaten the game, though, because I think it's full of spoilers. All of these could be on the Steam version, but from what I've always remembered the Steam version of old games never came with jack shit.

>MATURE (15 years olds)
Show us your most beat up, weathered, marked-up, etc games. I want something different than showing off our rare shit or our entire collections like we normally do.
I try not to buy stuff in horrible condition unless it's a good deal or I think I can clean it up.
I don't have any games in impressively bad shape; best I can do is some beat-up boxes.
Bonus points for the Bomberman tap box because I bought that brand new back when it came out and must have smashed myself.
>>2787017
Also had this since I was a kid.
Think it belonged to one of my brothers but we just kind of shared all the game stuff.
tell me a really GOOD platformer , but :
>It can't be a Mario, Sonic, Rayman or Donkey Kong game.
>It must be a pure platform game, not a hybrid like Mega Man.
Adventures of Little Ralph, it's pretty fucking awesome.
