Should I play PS1 games on PC or PS3?

It has 2 Metal Gear games, plus. The controllers are a little hard to find but if you look in the right places you will be happie playing 2 Metal Gear games, plus other classics, somebody wanna help me out here????

I went to my local retro game store yesterday, it didn't go so well. A lot of games were pretty cheap, but they're all fairly common games, or games for six then consoles that everyone already owns, and they're all around the same price as you can find those things for on Craigslist or a goodwill.
They had a copy of Tales of Destiny 2, which was I think the rarest game they were selling. But they wanted $200 for it, saying that it was "Complete in Box". It had a jewel case, although it was obviously a new one, and actually didn't even have an insert, rather a poorly photocopied JPEG of the cover art. The guy insisted it was a good deal.
They had lots of games in that state.
My question is, what is my incentive to go there? If retro game stores are more and more using eBay as a price guide (I see other anons talking about that here) and still trying to pull Craigslist tier shit when it comes to condition, why the fuck should I go there when I can get the game sent to my door for the same price? Anyone else have this problem?

the one i go to is similar, they sell more dvds and next gen games and phones etc than sega or nintendo games so i guess they mark up the price?
I really think there are some sellers who are so dead-set on the idea that their goods are rare and valuable that they'd rather close their doors than budge an inch on price ("for offer no lowball i know what the game is worth"). Every once in awhile some guy probably comes in and pays their ridiculous prices, thereby reaffirming their belief that all they have to do is wait long enough and that one special guy in the area who understands the true value of old games will come in and pay $60 for their sunfaded, "RICKY'S GAME" Super Mario Bros. 3 cart. With the apparent boom in terms of collecting old games, you wind up with a vicious cycle of opportunistic sellers feeding and being fed by new, frenzied buyers who have little knowledge of the market (or rather little understanding of the market before these fad-hopper types shat all over it). It doesn't help that some people in both of these groups likely view old games as poor man's investment pieces.

Actually i'm grateful for playing RPG's in english so i can argue about games in english imageboards and play something else than the literally four retro rpg's translated in my language.

Genesis game is better. SNES version gets boring quickly but IMO looks better.
In a vacuum? Virgin. Compared to every other platformer of the same era? Capcom. Virgin at the time was cranking out game after game that all played the same, several of which were based on Disney movies.

So this just came in the mail today /vr/.
I've only got composite cables to test but so far SNES has been proven to be a huge improvement over the previous TV composite connection I had it connected to.
N64 is giving me some minor trouble when I try to play in 720p with scanlines in 3D platformers in particular.
Both Banjo Kazooie and Mario 64 are giving me this issue when I come up against wall objects where it starts blinking and bluring when walking alongside it.
If I put it in 1080p which discludes scanlines it doesn't give me any problems.
Could the problem be the scanlines?
Gonna try Ocarina of time next and then try some PS2 and Dreamcast as well.
Will likely order some s-video for N64, PS2 and Dreamcast as well.

Oh yeah, also, is there a preferred settings for all the different options I have for the thing?

Do you have an actual machine or emulating it? What is your setup?
I am currently looking to get my hands on a Windows 95/98 computer, preferably a laptop or small desktop. I only want to play DOS games and 2D Windows games like Diablo, Starcraft and Simcity and stuff so I don't think I need any fancy Voodoo cards or anything like that.
How much chance do I have of finding one at my local car boot sale? On the one hand I'd expect 90's computers to be super common and dirt cheap these days, but on the other hand I'd also expect them to be fairly hard to find as most people probably assume they're completely worthless and either keep them in their attic or have thrown them out already.
It seems like ordering online is always going to cost more for computers because they're heavy and therefore cost a lot to post.

This game frustrated me. Is there a Dreamcast shooter game that is not so frustrating?
Giga wing 2 is way easier and also fantastic, it has unlimited continues and lots of unlockables tied to playing well, so you gradually get better but never get stuck at a wall.
Ikaruga is trash that shmup babbies like to hail as the best ever. You're better off playing something like Giga Wing 2 or Mars Matrix. My personal favorite though is Border Down, top tier hori.
Good news, our resident autists consider that an easy casual game.

oh, and as for how popular it is, it was one of the best selling Saturn games, it got ported to PC and Dreamcast, and it got anime and shitload of sequels for a good ten years (I stopped paying attention circa Sakura Taisen 5 on the PS2).
So, one of the more popular Sega franchises that is not Sonic or Hatsune Miku or Yakuza.

I have been playing some gameboy games and have a new found appreciation for its library. I just finished for the frog the bell tolls/kaeru no tame ni kane wa naru and I'm playing megaman v right now, great games.
I've recently rediscovered pic related, and it's a crying shame that it doesn't get more recognition.
Also, could anyone explain to me what the hardware improvements the color had over the brick? It feels faster, but that might just be me.
