Baku Baku is a poor mans Puzzle Fighter (exact fucking same gameplay, but with no counter attacks, so whoever throws the most blocks first will win).
It had wicked music though. I still listen to it from time to time. And the PAL disc had a kickass remix bonus track.
Rather than just creating a new /gg/ Gameboy General thread, this thread is trying something a little different. Feel free to discuss vintage handheld consoles in general, including the Nintendo Gameboy family, Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx, WonderSwan, Neo Geo Pocket, etc.
Some discussion of "portablized" systems like the Sega Nomad and Turbo Express is acceptable, but should be focused on the hardware itself rather than the games, since they are portable versions of home consoles which have their own threads.

OP here. I'm fine with it. Just ignore the shitposters.

What is the absolute worst retro game you have ever played?
>>3266486
one of those chinese war simulator games.
Like romance of the kindoms or some shit.
Super Mario Bros, inertia in a platformer just fucking sucks, and the arcade game is even worse.
Original Legend of Zelda, but that might be because I never gave Zelda II a chance.
The game is completely unplayable without a guide. The only people who were able to ever play it and put it on a pedestal today are Nintendo Power fags. It was pre-internet era so you had to go out and buy a subscription or a guide to get through that shit and the payoff isn't even worth it.
Whenever someone tells me they were able to get through it without any help at all, that's how I know they're full of shit. Or they've got some weapons grade autism.

That's a tough call, I love both. It'd be neat if someone hacked NiDL to use cleaned up and improved KA sprites though. I like the newer graphics but the originals are a lot more charming.
I tried the original at virtuanes but it seems to have emulation issues. Should I try a different emulator or VirtualConsole version at Wii?
why hasnt Sega mixed the games from Sonic Mega collection Plus and Sonic Gems collection (and add in Knuckles chaotix) all together?
Because all of the games have been released multiple times, and now that we live in the age of virtual console and Steam, it's not like Sega NEEDS to release another compilation disc.
>>3320476
youre right i just wish Chaotix was rereleased
These compilations never tend to be perfect, usually because I imagine the developer wants to cash in by releasing the games across multiple volumes.
I'm more upset that second-generation arcade compilations are usually so lightweight by comparison. The Atari collection series on PS1 contained maybe 6 games per volume at most, even though every volume could fit onto a single disc. Each volume also retailed at US $45.
What is the best NES emulator out there at the moment?

Wow, so edgy.
What do you think about Alex Kidd /vr/?
Poor man's Super Mario Bros or great platformer for Sega?

Like clockwork...
But now that that's out of the way, I loved it. If we're comparing it only to SMB1, then it's definitely the better game. Just much more variety. Sucks that A&B are reversed though, after you get used to that it's fine though. The ending is pretty fucking cryptic though and some of the janken matches seem rigged (unless you find the cheat).
But yeah, way better than SMB1.

Yes
So I want to get some Virtual Console games from the Wii Shop Channel. Do stores still sell Wii Points Cards?
No, I don't think stores still stock cards for consoles that aren't being made or supported anymore.
You might be able to still find them on ebay/craigslist though. Maybe some gamestop somewhere still has them.
My Sears had plenty of codes six months ago. They also had plenty of PSP-Go PSN cards. If you can't find any (and you can't use a CC) just soft-mod your Wii and download any games you want. Don't feel bad, the people who made the games profited and moved on decades ago.
>>3319646
The Wii Shop Channel is gone, mate. But the Nintendo eShop is alive and well and stores should have a few of those.
Was digging through some old things when I found 1982/83 Nintendo game and watches, that amazingly still worked
Second one
So, what the fuck is the point of your post? Just to brag about it and show your e-peen to /v/'s containment board?

He found something he thought was cool.
What the fuck is the point of your post? Mad that someone has something somewhat rare that you don't have? Don't you have some reseller and collector boogiemen to bitch about?
Hello /vr/, I am an anon that has been searching for one particular game for quite some time. It has been driving me fucking insane. It is an edutainment game from the 90's or early 2000's. I played it on my parents windows 95/98 PC. It surround a purple car, that is 3D, and the intro sequence ends with him sliding down a slide. I have no fucking idea what it is called or what it pertains to. I only remember this. Pic not related. Putt Putt is not the game. Every time I ask someone, they tell me it is Putt Putt and I know damn well that it is not that sad piece of...

Putt Putt
>>3319285
No man, it wasn't Putt Putt. ;-;7 I don't remember if it was even a purple car but the cut scenes at the very least were definitely 3D. You had to do tasks for one reason or another. This is literally killing me anon, please save me. ;-;

>that sad piece of shit
yo don't be talking shit about putt putt
So, I had no idea this existed! The Japanese re-release of Tenchu: Stealth Assassins contained a level editor (the west only got a level editor in Tenchu 2). The 100 best user-created levels were packaged together and released as Tenchu: Shinobi Hyakusen!
I've found Russian, and even Thai translations, but not English sadly.
Tenchu thread, I guess *shrug*
You don't really need a translation to play it as the missions have no plot and you should already know what items do what. The missions themselves could be considered "only for experts" as many of them are made to fuck around with what a seasoned Tenchu player is accustomed to for example sneaky archers covering ninjas on rooftops are a common thing.
Random screenies
I always considered the psp Tenchu game Time of Assassins as a sort of spiritual sequel to this. Though it's widely considered shit for it's bad draw distance(almost identical to the first tenchu btw) and controls, it seems to take it's structure partially from Shinobi Hyakusen while injecting a semblance of plot.
Is there a reason Fire emblem V has the worst translation in the series and no one is working on it? Why the hell would they redo IV and VI which were perfectly playable and push back V which doesn't even have a proper menu translation?
The game is often hailed as one of if not the best in the series. Do I really have to wait another three years to play it properly assuming it comes out at all?
>>3318746
I'm not really sure. I've played them all and it's my favourite by far. I guess FE6 was popular because the other GBA games were popular (and because of smash), FE12 was a new game when the translation project started, FE1-3 might be easier to translate, and FE4 should be played before FE5 for story purposes to translating that comes first.
In other news, Tear Ring Saga is almost fully translated (though it may take a while to insert the text into the game)
You'll never be able to play it properly if you use translations.
You could learn the necessary basics in a few weeks to months and then learn the rest by playing games.
