The STRIKE series is one of my favorite games of all time, I think I used the cartridges a lot faster than the CDs for the later titles but by god was it fun to play, explore the world and destroy buildings.
Why aren't there helicopter games as cool as this now? Also, retro copter games in general
>Why aren't there helicopter games as cool as this now?
More like, why aren't there helicopter games now? Hell, even plane games are becoming less common.
Seek and Destroy! From good ol Epic Megagames on DOS. Loved the shit out of this game a lot more than the Strike series.
Topgun Firestorm plays like the Stealth Fighter stage in Jungle Strike
So what do you think about this game?
>Fun Fact: If you hold your hand on the right wall of a maze and follow it, you'll eventually find the exit.
You're meming wrong faggot. It was supposed to be a flea market find.
>check Cinemassacre on youtube
>sure enough, Maze Craze comes up
Right on schedule
Show how does /vr/ feel about replacement cases and manuals? Are they worth it if you're unable to get the original case or manual?
>>3326082
They're fine, personally I don't really give a shit as long as the cartridge is in good condition, I'm more utilitarian about my collection.
Why not just get a scan of the manual?
>>3326082
you know, i always thought that was a guy on the cover of shining force 2. after seeing that large left breast i'm not so sure.
How could anyone have possibly beaten this quiz in Megaman Legend 2? You need either a guide or a long trial and error session, and even THEN there's usually a trick question involved.

Male tortie. Male calico cats are fairly rare.
Look at this shit!
>>3325750
Got me on that one. kek
...Well?
Every single level up there was a stat that would be better than the others to level.
Check for it and choose it.
Always.
There, you've broken the game.
>>3325708
Was it RNG, or is there a way to predict which one it'll be?
>>3325776
I think it was Star > Pow > HP > Star > Pow > HP until you reach level 30.
But I may be wrong.
What do you think would be better for a first time blind playthrough of Baldur's Gate - vanilla or BGT/Tutu?
I installed both Baldur's Gate games and was going to install either BGT or Tutu that make BG1 run in BG2's engine, but the more I read on it the more I started second guessing myself. With the proficiency differences between the two games, apparently you can screw yourself over a bit if you build your characters with proficiencies for weapons that aren't going to be available until the very end of BG1. Since the mods don't apparently put...

Vanilla you shit dick.
BGT/Tutu is fine if it's not your first time.
Avoid EE like the plague.
There are plenty of guides that recommend which mods to use to fix all the "problems" with the games if that's the only reason you want to use BGT/Tutu
>>3325694
Be nice.
But yes, I totally agree. Vanilla only first time.
The only games that that may need updates are "incomplete" games like Fallout 2.
>>3325685
also EE version adds a whole bunch of stuff that changes the flavor of the game
My poor RF Switch has been beat to shit, and now it's bent really badly. The actual bent part swivels around, so it's a bitch to try to bend back into place
Any recommendations?
>>3325623
It's standard coax. You can take the end from any other coax cable and attach it to that one with a crimping tool. Might be able to do it by hand, but sure. Radio shack has the tool though, I know that. Or just get composite video if possible. Or better yet, get a male-to-female adapter, and then attach a made-to-male into it and voila. It'll be a hassle, but it would be a solution.
As the other anon said you can cut the connector off and replace it if you must.
You should probably go without the RF switch altogether if you can though. Every splice degrades the signal and introduces interference and RF switches are really bad about that.
>>3325623
what are you using this for anon? Just curious

Is that language with all the fucked up A's and math signs real?
I've seen it used on bad vidya torrents and stuff but it can't possibly be readable, can it?
Is it just a result of my computer not being able to render whatever fucked up foreign letters are actually there?
Damn, those retro-gamer autists are gonna pay for shitting up my chan.

So, I want to buy a Saturn since emulation isn't good.
What should I know before I'll be looking for deals?
What's good price?
Some tips on Rhea?
Only thing of intrest is that some games need a ROM cart, depending on what game it may be 1 to 4 MB that is required. Besides that the Action Replay Cart makes it possible to play all region games (no burned copies however) and also has 4 MB installed so all the games are playable.
>>3325092
> no burned copies however
I heard about some PseudoSaturn, does it have anything with Action Replay?
so, any good non-space shooters I should play? besides Legendary axe and Dungeon explorers
>>3324781
If you're not only asking about pce games then pic related.
>>3324781
Dragon Spirit
Dragon Sabre
Magical Chase
Raiden
All great non-space shooters
>>3324804
I was too ambiguous with that, but yes, I was talking about PCE and and PCECD games
got annoyed by the shifter being on the screen by default in mame, so I did this
so whats the gamegenie codes?
Canon Ball
cool
Can we have a discussion about the different revisions of this game? It seems like so much rebalancing was done between revisions, and not all of it good. For instance, later revisions made food appearance much more scarce, to the point where you couldn't even collect enough food to offset the cumulative damage caused by the in-game timer, unless you caved in and fed the machine more quarters.
Also, I wonder if there's a way to know which revisions of the ROM are used in the various emulated compilations ported to home consoles.
>>3324649
Basically, with each revision the game got harder. Also, the barbarian and wizard were toned down in the revisions. They were much stronger originally.
Just a FYI, the Japanese Genesis version of Gauntlet, which is based off the original code, and is practically arcade-perfect outside of occasional slowdowns and flickering, is based off a version where the barbarian and wizard weren't toned down yet.
>>3324753
Are you referring to Tengen's Gauntlet IV, or was there a straight up port of the arcade game as well?
>>3324785
it's 2 games in one. a straight up port of gauntlet 1, and it has a couple other modes, such as a full-feature "adventure/rpg" mode and a battle mode. maybe some other things, i can't remember. it's been a while since i've played
How would you improve it?
I'd give it all new maps, seriously the vanilla maps in Doom 2 were terrible. Everything from the design to just how ugly the color scheme was, Doom 1 was interesting to look at, while Doom 2 just had a bunch of drab, brown places that all looked like sewers and factories.
>>3324465
The guys there mainly discuss mods and the community.
I wanted to have a thread strictly dedicated to the vanilla game.
>>3324452
Different setting, leading to new environment textures (less grey and brown) and enemies, and stronger emphasis on the dynamic light capabilities.
I'd add a new default input scheme that's closer to kb+m (with a dead vertical mouse axis) and controller support.
I would not change the resolution. 320x200, maybe 320x240, and 640x480 if I'm feeling really kinky. The sprites have a resolution designed for the old VGA mode.
I would not touch the arsenal, or pickups. Shit's quite balanced.
