Can I get some good recommendations for NES games made by American or Euro/British devs? I was thinking about it and most of my favorite NES games were done by Japanese studios, and I'd like some suggestions for games worth playing. Not necessarily masterpieces, just stuff that isn't crap.

Pic related, I enjoyed Treasure Master.

Hey /vr/! What are some games that never made it to the United States that are worth emulating? I've been playing the first Fire Emblem, Mr. Gimmick and Panel De Pon lately and they're all really good!

I never finished it, but Marvelous: Another Treasure Island seems pretty cool so far.

It's what Aonuma worked on before he joined the Zelda team.

there was something so comfy and kinda psychedelic about the museum. the emptiness, the music, the '95 playstation graphics. i fuckin love it. really the games were more of an afterthought, as a kid i'd spend most of my time just wandering around and taking it in

Might be a really stupid question, but it appears I just kinda suck at retro games. I love them a ton, but I'll be fucked if I could ever beat one. Do some people just have a gift to be awesome at games, or is it all just practice?

pic very related.

I sucked at NES Contra and had never beaten it. I started playing it and got to where I could clear it (no code). I hadn't played it for a while, tried to play it again, and sucked. If I picked it up today and put in a bit of time to get back comfortable with it, I am sure I could beat it easily.

Similar story with arcade Makaimura and FC Batman: couldn't beat them, kept playing and playing and playing, then I could beat them. While of course natural reaction time plays a part, if you really want to beat a game, play it enough and you eventually will clear it. I don't mean play it for a couple days, stop, then try again a month later. Just dedicate all of or most of your gaming time to it for a significant period of time and I am sure you can do it.

Practice, patience, perseverance, getting the fuck gud.

practice

people don't become good at something just sitting on their asses (unless they're trying to get good at video games)

1011 KB,
I have to say it: Ocarina of Time sucked huge hairy ball sacks. What a huge waste of time and money!
People even say it's graphics were great, but they were fucking terrible, and yes, I'm comparing it to N64 games.
It didn't get enjoyable until getting the Mirror shield, and by then you're almost done with it.
And before anyone says "hurr guess Zelda games jus rnt ur thing, go back to COD u pleb", I've never even played games past gamecube era and some of my favorite games are Zelda games.
So what the fuck? Why does this game get...

Also, when I say the graphics were terrible, let me give comparisons:
Paper Mario had timeless graphics and did something unique.
The bomberman games looked great with their way of perspective and use of charm, especially "the second attack".
Just about every Rare game had fucking fantastic graphics for their time.
Even fucking Mario 64 used the TV blur to it's advantage for objects which used sprites, giving a depth illusion while saving memory and making it look better than it would with polygons.
Ocarina of Time doesn't do shit, and people...

Post and discuss great retro strategy games

Also whats the best version of this? Played it on the SNES and absolutely loved it but Im rebuilding my Genesis collection and am wondering how it holds up compared to the SNES version.

Genesis has extra levels, but whatever you do stay the fuck away from GBA.
>>
>>3325478

TLV is not even remotely a strategy game.

as far as the best version, SNES has slightly better graphics and music, but the Genesis has five exclusive levels so I'd pick that version. but make sure you have a good 6 button controller as it's a headache playing without it.
>>
>>3325494
Really you wouldnt consider it strategy? It requires making the most out of your vikings and using them just right. I am kinda torn on what genera it could even be placed it. I wouldnt really consider it a platformer.

So I have a question, /vr/. My mom kept all the boxes and manuals for my old video games, but she threw out the white cardboard inserts so that they would take up less room.

Now recently I lost my job and I need money, so I'm thinking of selling them off. Can I sell these games without the cardboard inserts as CIB?

Don't. Get a DS2 or DS1 at worst (DS1 has got better sticks but a more painful dpad). Sixaxis and early DS3s are also okay, but new DS3s are a no no.

Anyone own a chink SNES EverDrive?

I'm a Canadacuck and it would cost me twice as many syrup tokens to buy the real thing after exchange and shipping.

Does anyone know if the China Version has the DSP1 chip in it?

but I collect for super famicom / sega genesis / gameboy so it's like the absolute most i'm paying for a game is 20 bucks. for some goodshit too.

OP I ordered one from AliExpress after hearing all the good things about them here and Ali cancelled my shit and demanded I photocopy several forms of ID. Apparently that is something that randomly happens when you use the site, so be aware that it is a possibility. I know that the official Ukrainian edition is many more Syrupstani tokens, but if they cancel you, you could also try eBay, although the knockoffs are more expensive there.

As for the DSP chip, it won't be in the Chinese clone, and from what I've read I don't think you can install it later either.
