Are there any other notable games made throughout history with a political bias or flat out propaganda?

not retro but any call of dewtee

I really can't think of any that are retro other than your own submission.

most games in the period are either foreign (and thus generally uncompromised, or even laughably incapable of portraying US politics) simple-plotted (e.g. missile command could be construed as anti-ABM propaganda because you eventually lose anyway, or it could be that it's just good fun), or else wouldn't be necessarily propaganda (e.g. wolfenstein 3D is clearly anti-nazism, but is it really propaganda?)

honestly, most date from post-retro periods:

>America's army
very obvious. it doesn't try to hide that fact though.

>Halo
not intended as such, but it recruited a lot of people, and it's plot about hostile religious zealots struck a chord post 9-11.

srsly can't think of any more though.

If you could magically have 3 games/consoles/accessories (not each) from any console (1999 or older of course) show up right beside you when you wake up the next morning, what would they be, and why? (Not Necessary)

-Sega Dreamcast console new
-Gauntlet Legends for Sega Dreamcast new
-SNES Wild guns new

Because I always wanted a dreamcast.
And wild guns speaks for itself.

Does anyone on /vr/ buy Sega Pico games? I'm a Sega fanboy and am looking into picking one up. I'm not interested in many US games other than the two Sonic games and Ecco, since the Pico is an educational tool first.

My real interest was I was thinking I could learn some Japanese by importing. Bandai seems to have made games based off most of their properties (Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Sailor Moon, Ultraman, Godzilla, etc) and as a resident of /m/ that's peaked my interest. Most console games based off those properties at the time were shit so if I can at least learn something from the Pico games, I'd be alright. Also, pic related, the Ultraman set looks badass.

Any thoughts or knowledge on Sega Pico collecting are welcome. Two questions I do have is how it hooks up to a TV (you have to pass-through a VCR according to wiki?) and if its region-locked.

The Sega Pico is a babies system. You can't learn Japanese from it.

Actually buying and owning one/using one is pretty genuinely autistic, anon. It's a 90s toy for 5 year olds with little kids books.
>>
>>3329860
Sonic's Gameworld looks better than some Sonic games. As a party game I'd play it over Sonic Shuffle based on the gameplay video I watched. The Tails game does sound autistic (literally) so I'm with you there. And looking into how it functions, it doesn't seem like the games actually tell a story so learning Japanese wouldn't be possible. But that just makes the games more accessible! The mystery of the Pico's library coupled with getting Sega games based off some of my favorite Bandai properties is what's appealing to me.

This is just Link to the Past 3D. Like, this game didn't do anything new or innovative, it didn't have amazing graphics, good plot, it just had solid gameplay and is extreme nostalgia bait.

Pic related, it pretty much codified 90% of shooter genre in fucking 1962. It invented the shooter genre understood as controlling a moving character, competitive multiplayer, physics system, advanced movement techniques (you can use gravity well to pull some tricks), shootemup and shooter genre as a whole, laid foundation for 'spaceship shooter' theme that is still popular to this day, and was arguably first hard-sci fi game ever made (since it was trying to simulate realistic space combat, more or less).

Also, you can actually play it on Steam in multiplayer, except it's installation is a secret - in "input product code" thing, put in

steam://install/480

And you get Spacewar.

You set up RetroArch, download the beetle/mednafen PSX core and put on your CRT autismo shader of choice.

In a few years do the same but replace core with rustation.

Suggest me a good laptop for playing Dos games?

It needs to have a nice quality 640x480 backlit TFT that can play 320x200 games 2x without ugly scaling.

Good Sound Blaster Pro emulation.

Preferably Pentium 1.

>90s laptops

Color laptops all used PVA back then, they switched to TFT in the 2000s for cost reasons.

>good SB Pro emulation
>laptop

In fact just wanting a laptop from that era is asking for a lot because very few working examples are left so good luck finding one. Laptops lead a harder life than desktops...
>>
Easy. You can install DOSBox on any current laptop and play all the games you want without the horror of adjusting CONFIG.SYS files. ;)

Any tips on getting good at this game? I recognize there are combos to perform and that you can deflect your opponent's projectiles by doing a combo at the right opportunity. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Honestly, the game is just pure reflex. As long as you pay attention to what's coming at you from your opponent, you're going to not be shit.

Which retro games could be easily adaptable for mobile gaming (or were already ported)?

Pic related: in this game (Factory, the Industrial Devolution) the only control is clicking on the good spot at the right time (apparently someone did made a mobile adaptation, but it seem to be shit)

I just got this for PS4. It feels kinda input laggy. Is that normal?

I also have Megaman Legacy Collection on PS4 and apart from the occasional slowdown (just as it happened on NES) it doesn't have the input laggy that MS3 constantly has.

>>
The Mega Man collection had a fairly well-documented fine tuning process to get it to run right on modern consoles/TVs. Neo Geo....well, to say the least it's nothing like that. Whether it's on Steam or consoles if you buy a Neo Geo game all you get is a rom playing on a shitty Chinese emulator with zero optimization. You really shouldn't support this stuff, they'll keep doing it.

I feel like it's appropriate enough to ask here so what are the best ways to find local garage sales? Looking at craigslist, checking for ads in the local paper, or just driving around hoping you find one?
28 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
It depends on where you live.
>>
If you want to beat the faggot resellers at their own game you watch Craigslist and Facebook and the paper then show up at those houses way before the sale opens and bug the shit out of them. If they specifically list video games you can basically guarantee some dipshit will do this it's just a question of which one gets there first. Unless you're the only dipshit in your town then "lucky" you.

This one is easy and quite fast to beat. Just make sure to change the difficulty settings.

If you feel like playing more of it, just grab the sequels (the third game is bit harder, but it shouldn't be a problem).
