Hey, the interview was solid as fuck. You also missed Silent Hill.

It was about 10 minutes, the rest was about Konami and the challenges. Another thread with people complaining they didn't get the episode they wanted.

It's widely regarded as a classic and the best game in the Serpent Riders games. Why wouldn't anyone. /vr/ used to have small generals about Hexen for a while.
Better question would be if anyone remembers Hexen 2 as it's never brought up.
>>
>>2872308
i know about hexen 2 but ive never played it. and i know noone in my life whose ever known about hexen besides a family member of mine

I was hosting it coop on Z& for like a week last week and noone joined. So no, nobody remembers it.
>>2872317
I'd like to host Hexen 2, but it doesn't want to work for whatever reason. Maybe I'll try again

what?

They made a video about the scrapped conker sequel Gone Medieval, turned out to be just a bunch of concept arts for multiplayer skins to be used on live and reloaded.

Everyday is chest day mother fucker.

Closing in on what is "hopefully" the final moments of the game. Holy shit, Lloyd has gone through some stuff. I bought the 2nd game, but was disappointed to later read its only like 70% translated or something... Is it still worth it?

Yes, the second game is fucking awesome. Great story and much improved gameplay. Just make sure you get the "Ultimate Hits" version (not the original release) because it adds the option to skip battle animations and the battle animations + loading screens take a long time.

Also, not sure if you're aware but the PS1/DS version of FM1 has an additional scenario from the perspective of someone on the other side of the conflict so you might want to play that next.

>Lloyd has gone through some stuff
He sure has. Just wait until you see him in a secret FM2 mission.

Yeah - I'm actually really wondering how this game will end. I'm done playing for the night but fuck I just fought Olsen like 30 times, I dunno what it takes to end this thing.

OLD THREAD SO OLD IT IS RETRO IN OF ITSELF:
https://warosu.org/vr/thread/S1532342

Any of you dorks still got copiers laying around?

>duh guh bluh muh orginal hw/repros/flashcarts/emulat-*cocksucking noises*

Yeah yeah, all that stuff is better, we know. Can't it be argued that retro nostalgia can also apply to the weird HK "backup" devices we used in the ROM scenes' infancy?

Pic is of my old Game Doctor SF7. Floppy drive finally kicked it so I got one of those cheapo gotek hardware emulators off ebay. Works pretty good. No disks, no noise, no more moving parts, less video interference.

OG POST FOR THE LAZY:

Ever wonder where your old console ~*{ROMZ}*~ came from? Chances are, some nerd in 1992 imported a game copier from china for like, $700 and ripped his carts for you. Thousands of games, sitting on dialup BBSes years before anyone started coding the emulators to run them.

Super futuristic copier features included:

-several megabytes of high speed RAM to store your ROM file during playback. Don't pull the power though, or you'll have to reload the entire game though...
-the floppy drive! Chrono Trigger took a while to load since you had to swap four whole disks that the game was split across. For the extra-baller, copiers were available with parallel ports you could hook up to your dope 386 DOS machine, which sped up file transfers considerably.
-cheat codez!
-barely-comprehensible chinese GUI!

As late as 2008, before cheap (and awesome) flash carts started coming out for nearly every retro console, these old copiers were still THE way to play translations and other hacks on the original hardware. A used Game Doctor SF3 could be had for 35$ and would run ~95% of SNES games. You just had to find some disks and figure out the shitty DOS software that would convert/split your ROMs back to whatever long forgotten interleaved format the stupid thing used for some reason.
>>
>>2861964
that's pretty neat actually, what games does it not play?
>>
>>2862106
Nigga what? Can you not read?

It plays all games. It literally rips rom images from games or plays back rom images already ripped games. It is console specific as well.

Chiller I guess.

I can't think of many games where your goal is to straight up murder/torture people in cold blood, let alone retro games.
>>
The blocks! The blocks are people!
>>
>>2869619
Never played Chiller, but definitely The Immortal for Genesis. Holy fucking shit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AB9O0__7oWg

Should I just quit playing this and move on to smt2? I hear it's way better and I'm kind of losing interest quickly in the first. I've played IV and Nocturne and loved them so i wanted to start from the beginning. The rate that I run into a fight is so fucking high, though, I seriously just had a fight every step of the way out of a 4 block room.

>>
The gameplay in SMT2 really isn't much better but the encounter rate is significantly lower and much more bearable, yeah.
I heard the story is alright but I didn't get that far. It's defintely not worth playing for the gameplay, though. Early MegaTen games are just kind of shit to be honest.
>>
>>2869226
I'm kind of in the same boat, I'm loving the later SMT entries but I'm also trying to play 1 right now, and I"m feeling similar. I put aside any notion of 'pride' or whatever you call it and I'm just cutting through any way I can. I'm using guides, I'm fast forwarding through a lot of fights/grinding, anything to make it bearable since the story is really what I'm here for.

>>2869690
>Early MegaTen games are just kind of shit to be honest.
I hate to admit it but that's how I'm feeling, the cool story and atmosphere can't make up for the lackluster gameplay and drab environments, etc.

When does it seem the SMT games break out of it's major negative trappings and become really good? I assume 1, probably 2, probably If... and the Megaten1/2 remake are all on the rough side.
>>
>>2869226
I fucking love this game. I've played both the SNES translation and the iOS remake and both are dope. The music is fucking great and the story is spooky and scary. It's just so grindy and honestly I can't play it without a guide. I feel like a dick. Still haven't beaten it.

anyone else think this game is way too frustrating? if you jump one frame too late or early you die, and the only way to win is to 100% memorize everything. i wouldn't even call it a platformer its more like a side scrolling puzzle adventure game.
the world is cool as fuck though and the story is cool. plus its satisfying when you finally succeed.

>i wouldn't even call it a platformer its more like a side scrolling puzzle adventure game

That's what's good about it.
>>
True, but then again the game gives you a million checkpoints and I think there's a quicksave in the pc version. It may seem hard but you actually get punished very little.
>>
>>2868409
>if you jump one frame too late or early you die
It's a cinematic platformer. Abe is tied to a grid.

I´ll start with a pretty obvious one.
Theres something about this logo that really makes it pretty i cant really explain it.Have anything similar to share?

Anyone here play Marathon?

One of Bungie's better games/series I think, I love the interaction with the different AI personalities and the sometimes eerie levels due to the lack of soundtrack.

What's your favourite game of the series?

>>
it's been a longass time.
i can remember a hugely frustrating level where you mapped out a maze while running out of air and dying over and over and over, and another level where it implied you were looking for a hidden door to win the level but you actually had to mash your face right up against an underwater window.

that shit annoyed the hell out of me.
>>
>Implying Marathon> anything
>>
Marathon was fantastic, but I couldn't get into Durandal and never tried Infinity because of the lack of soundtrack, it just killed it for me, especially after how good the Marathon soundtrack was

so can someone tell me what the difference is between Quake 3 and Quake Live now that Live is no longer free to play?

why divide the community like that?

Aren't they basically the same thing now, except Q3 has more compatibility with computers due to ioq3?
>>

Quake Live is multiplayer only
>>
>>2859301
Eh, Quake Live does have some changes. Mostly for the worse. Thanks to the magic of open source all the quality of life improvements can be experienced in Q3, so fuck it.

>>2859304
I only ever played it once and that was during the free to play time, but it did have bots for offline play. I can't imagine the bots are gone now. If QL is multi only then so is Quake 3 for having deathmatch as it's single player mode.

Every Megaman game rewards farming. Only some of the Castlevania games do, therefore Castlevania is better. Also the Megaman games have a shitload of slowdown and sprite flicker.

Tell me more about this oh mighty shill.

Is this better than RetroArch?
Does it use the same emulators as retro arch?

if so I may use it.
Just tell me why I should use it.
>>

yes
sure

because retroarch is shit

not op btw

this is the best emulation experience i've had since i first found emulation in the late 90s early 2000s. makes shit so much easier.
>>
>>2873451
>because retroarch is shit
Not a very good reason.
Can you tell me why it's better and why I should use it? None of this seems convincing.
