Can we have a Zelda Classic thread? We had one a few days that went well.
Quick explanation for those unfamiliar:
Zelda Classic is a fan-made PC recreation of The Legend of Zelda that comes with an extensive editor tool, that allows you to essentially make your own Zelda quest. You're not just limited to stuff from Zelda 1, as the editor lets you add tons of items and elements from later Zelda games, and supports scripting to allow you to add even more.

Seems like an awesome idea, I've been meaning to give it a go for ages. Only issue is that games can't be exported, they have to be loaded up in the player which makes sharing with friends etc. inconvenient.

Shogo was a unique, brilliant, and underrated game. Not just for its aesthetics, but the gameplay successfully merges mecha, vehicle, and on-foot combat seamlessly in the one engine.
It had twin weapons, NPC interaction, good pacing, multiple endings, and even a Linux port. There is literally nothing to dislike about this game.
I'm one of those crusty 2D nostalgiafags who whined in 1995 about how Quake was taking focus off gameplay at the expense of graphics, but even I loved Shogo and have finished...

I remember getting into emulation with Nesticle around 1997. I would spend hours reading all the info on Zophar's Domain. MAME seemed like the greatest achievement of computer science in history. I never did figure out how the fuck Pasofami was supposed to work.
But none of that was "retro". I don't think I even had a PlayStation by that point. NES games were already pretty old, but it all still felt pretty contemporary. Then ZSNES came out, and HOLY FUCK FINAL FUCKING FANTASY V AND SEIKEN FUCKING DENSETSU 3. It was as exciting as a brand new game...
