What is the magnum opus of the SHUMP genre, /vr/?
>>3350187
Anything on the Turbografx-16/PC Engine. That console had so many gems in the genre that I recommend checking it out.
>>3350187
I K A R U G A
They're armed with Five Five Sixers and pineapples
overrated games general?
>>3349902
Why the dreaded Pinepples.
Wow! He must be crazy to fly a Hind in this kind of weather!
What are some /vr/ approved game collections?
Best $10 I ever spent.
Unlocking the games was bullshit though.
>>3349818
>that perfect minimalistic cover style
the pal version pulls it better, with all letters being the same size, but the multiple colors kinda fucks it up.
and i wonder how many arms and legs the japanese special boxset cost?
>>3349849
>and i wonder how many arms and legs the japanese special boxset cost?
Just looked, there's one on ebay for 150 BIN. Not too bad I suppose. Dunno what they sold for at the time, obviously.
I hired Trevor, Grunty and MD at the start. Am I screwed?
Are you playing on some extreme difficulty setting?
>>3349639
No just vanilla 1.12, Lots of Guns, Normal, Realistic combat my IMP Merc is an Auto Weapons + Martial Arts guy
Nah, most teams in JA2 are perfectly viable. Get Meltdown as well, she is ridiculously powerful in the earlygame.
>have very distant childhood memories of some game you either just played for a weekend or used to see in magazines but can't remember the name of it
>finally find out which game it was
>feeling of nostalgia doesn't really come up because you remember a few small details differently and can't be 100% sure it was that game
Does anyone else know this feel?
>>3349602
absolutely. Feels bad bro.
>>3349602
Yes
>>3349602
That's how I felt about Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG
Anybody else prefer this to any of the versus games? The versus games get all the attention, but honestly for some reason this game just feels like a better game when I play it than any of them
Why?
This game would be good but the infinity gem shit ruins it. Why add Smash Bros lolrandom shit to a fighter.
>>3349491
Can you quantify why you like the game more?
Obscure retro games we wish we could discuss, but no one's fucking played them.
I'll start:
>>3349440
Well of course no one's played it, it says "Export Outside Japan Prohibited".
>>3349448
Because it's the Japanese version you dumb dumb.
>>3349448
Call the Kempeitai, I don't give a shit.
What's the version to go for, MAME or some port?
Uncharted Waters (SNES) does not use X and Y or the trigger buttons. What was the "reference" system for the game, the system the game was originally developed for, before being ported to other platforms?
>>3349420
How about NES?
>american cover
Every time.
But still, there is some charm.
>>3349423
>Every time.
I started this thread because I'm reading the SNES manual, about to play the game. As an image is required, I did a GIS for Uncharted Waters, and grabbed the first image that was not a screenshot or New Horizons. I am not aware of differences between the covers or versions
>>3349427
>I am not aware of differences between the covers
Dude, don't worry, there's nothing special about Uncharted Waters cover. That's a common thing when covers get different from their Japanese originals.
but most Jaguar games remained exclusive to the Jaguar?
Shit games vs good (enough) games
>>3349293
SS and PS couldn't handle Jaguar, do the math
Most of the 3DO's library was produced by third parties such as EA and Crystal Dynamics. When the 3DO floundered, they just ported all their stuff to the PS and SS.
I don't think had any serious third-party support, outside stuff like Rayman (which got ported to several platforms) and Double Dragon V (which was originally for the 16-bit consoles).
Is there a mod for Duke Nukem 3D that allows you to look up and down without completely warping the perspective?
Use the opengl render on eduke32?
You're not asking for a "mod", you're asking for a true 3D renderer. And it doesn't "warp", that's the thing.
Use EDuke32's Polymost renderer, it's true 3D while retaining a look that's faithful to the original game.
>>3349154
Why can't I just get a mod?
Except for Outlander and Quarantine 2, which other games recreates the Mad Max vibe?
I'm talking mainly about the driving part
Autoduel
>>3349079
mad max-nes
car battler joe-gba
atomic highway-d20
>>3349170
>mad max-nes
reviews seem to rip that one to shreds. Is it as bad as they claim, or are they crappy players?
Hey guys, what kind of gamepad do you use? For what games?
I've always used one of these and I'm thinking about grabbing a new one, but I'm curious to hear some other opinions...what do you think is a really good gamepad specifically for fighting games and 2d sidescrollers?
>>3349035
xbox one for 3d games and non-retro
buffalo snes, for 2d and retro
thinking of getting one of those saturn usb pads
>>3349035
I'm glad you made this so I didn't have to. I still use a wired 360 controller for everything, but mine's wearing out.
Anyone know of a good replacement, a good catch-all controller? I don't care about price.
>>3349035
For emulators i use a dualshock 3. Besides some awkwardness with the triggers, it has a decent d-pad and connects wirelessly, so i have no complaints. If you go that route, use SCP server and avoid motioninjoy.
The wired 360 pad is pretty good as well, but the d-pad isn't ideal for older games.
>there was nothing we could do
>My God.
>mfw he says that after I accidentally shot the guy
>tfw I hate HotD4 only because it uses a automatic weapon
HotD2 and 3 are my favs
