Recently found Brawl Brothers for SNES (aka Rival Turf 2) and have been enjoying it. Side-scrolling beat-em-ups can be rather repetitious & predictable, and this game is no different there... just part of the genre I suppose. But I like it better than the Final Fight series at least. You'll probably want to adjust the options on the main screen before playing. The "Angry Mode" is a nice addition. I also like little details like the CRASH sound effects being drawn on screen like a comic book. The hit detection can be a little off sometimes, but the fact that you can move your character around quickly makes up for that. This one is definitely a lot better than Rival Turf. I have yet to play The Peace Keepers, but I'll get around to that one as well. JALECO made some pretty solid beat em ups for the SNES. I'd say pick this up if you see it around at a decent price.
Apparently this is the only North American SNES cart which has both the English version of the game as well as the complete Japanese version (which does have some differences from the American version) hidden on the cartridge and accessible with a cheat code.
I'm playing this for the first time, based on your post. Does the sewer part of the first level ever end?
The sewer part is a maze... you'd think they'd save the harder parts for later and not throw you right into them... You may need a walkthrough for that part to figure out the proper route. I sure did.
My first fatality was Mileena's man eater, and years later, I developed a vore fetish.

My first fatality was Bo Rai Cho fart in MK:D. Yet i had MK3 for SNES.

Maybe because you got them for Christmas or just because they seem to have a festive atmosphere what are the game you have to play every year?
For me it has to be Toy Commander on the Dreamcast even though it was not set at Christmas it was always snowing outside and that house was so damn cozy and a year later it had a special Christmas level on the Dreamcast demo disk.
Spyro 3, PS1 was my first console and it was the first game I got. All the Sunrise Spring worlds are maximum Christmas nostalgia.
I play it every Christmas

Is it like a thing when auctions are always rigged and AT BEST, you only make 2 dollars difference of the cheapest BIN price now?
there's even cases when the auction price ends EVEN HIGHER!
Is it not obvious that with Buy-It-Now you are paying for the immediacy of not having to deal with an auction? Time is money and buy-it-nows are usually priced taking that into consideration. Of course there are always ridiculous sellers who put prices they'll never get, but on the bright side they have to pay to keep those annoying listings up.
There's a lot of rigged shit on ebay.
Auctions go for anything especially auctions under $50.
If you're trying to save money on like a $20 dollar tops game than you're pretty jew to begin with so ebay should be like a second home for ya.
>>2852475
that's is a weak justification if you ask me, seems like Ebay system is shitty to begin with auctions.
Has any series topped Princess Maker in letting you completely customize the fate of your character?

I'm sorry /vr/ is so shit anon, I loved this game

CoD.
Why don't people use Kaillera? It's really cool imo.
(For those of you who don't know, it's how you can play almost any emulated game with someone else over the internet)
It was pretty big back in the day. People just stopped using it. It was kickass for stuff like 3v3 KoF and shit.
because fightcade is better
Because it was garbage.
Let's settle this for once and all: Deus Ex or System Shock 2?
System Shock 2 is garbage.
>>2849837
They're both quite different and are good in their own rights but I prefer Deus Ex.
However,Thief > Deus Ex and SS1 > SS2
System Shock 2
I'm currently playing GMDX 8.0 for Deus Ex and it's pretty great, easily the best overhaul mod the game has to offer, much better than the over-marketed Revision. What are some other great overhauls for older PC titles that gives the game a second life?
>>2845507
Not retro, but the mechwarrior mod for crysis warhead.
Also there's basically tons of mods for unreal:tournament, and doom. check the eternal doom thread?
For rpgs, I can only think of Diablo II and Neverwinter Nights(both the retro and non-retro game).
>>2845507
What does GMDX do? I started playing Revision (original sountrack and character models, Shifter mode) for my Christmas playthrough.
So far the biggest problem is that some of the animated textures (the TV's, those pump things on medical equipment) look weird exactly because they're higher-quality.
>>2848136
GMDX is a mechanics overhaul, it rebalances augmentations, skills, adds perks, enhance enemy AI, minor scenery changes, revamped difficulty (harder than the original). Check out the moddb page http://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/ but keep in mind that version 8.0 won't release to the public yet (but you can request it to the author via PM)
belts and zippers fetish aside, nomura was a good character designer.
>>2856094
Why are belts and zippers in themselves bad character design and how is a random drawing of a character with literally no costume or any personality trait implemented in the actual game good?
I agree though; it's directing he sucks at.
>>2856094
>nomura was a good character designer.
Not in the same universe where Kinu Nishimura, Tomomi Kobayashi, Yoshitaka Amano and Tatsuya Yoshikawa exist.
He's mid tier at best.
You left out Leather. Leather + Belts + Zippers.
Then you add Metrosexual.
How do you beat this fucker after he steals all of your shit??
>>2855667
By not blowing your FP until he steals your shit, then unloading on him.
I struggled against this boss back when I was 8 years old. Are you 8 years old, OP?
>>2855926
Its fucking insane how difficult this game was when I was younger, but starting a new file not even a few weeks ago, I've blazed through most of it already.
I found this game on my 3ds forsome reason. I must have downloaded it a few years ago when it was on sale. How do you guys feel about these game? How does it compare to the other 2D Zelda games? Is it worth playing through?
>>2854362
>A few years ago when it was on sale
I hate liars like you
>>2854369
Not him, but what are you talking about? Eshop has sales semi-frequently. Is there some weird thing where Seasons and Ages would never get put on sale?
>>2854362
If you like Zelda then they're pretty good. I personally liked Link's Awakening and Minish Cap a little more, but it's Zelda. If you dig it, you'll dig them.
>>2854438
>Is there some weird thing where Seasons and Ages would never get put on sale?
Because they only put one game at a time on sale for like 10% off. Nintendo's software prices are the fucking worst.
Forget the FF7 remake for a moment. Square should shelve the project and consider remaking much earlier FF games in glorious 3D. What better way to celebrate the series than to breathe life back into the settings and characters that started it all. Unfortunately, it seems the classics have been retired to the status of mobile shovelware, complete with dumbed down mechanics for casual audiences.
How the mighty have fallen.
Folks on /vr/ bitch about the DS remake for FF3. I don't know why. it seemed pretty solid to me.
>>2851171
It changed the amount of enemies that could be in a single battle which borked the game's difficulty and balance.
>>2851168
The fuck is with the Jojo posing on OP's pic?
Now that the dust has settled, what's the definitive version of this game?
>>2850996
FF4CC PSP no doubt.
SFC Hard Type
>>2850996
These goddamn memes why does /vr/ always get bullied
There aren't all that many of them and that's all the more reason to love them. Most famously known are probably the Ninja Gaiden cutscenes, which are pretty cool.
Metal Warriors

The PCECD has a lot of this, since while the CDs gave it a lot of storage space, it couldn't really handle video compression, so they still had to do their cutscenes by physically drawing all the pieces.

Oh man, the thread with just a black picture looks stupid. I fucked up.
>>2846194
But thanks, those are definitely cool. I think the Sega CD also had a decent amount of cutscenes.

>they still had to do their cutscenes by physically drawing all the pieces
Cell animation would've required that anyway.
>>2847983
>Cell animation would've required that anyway.
I meant that they had to program the actual movement of the images on screen, rather than playing a video. Maybe physically wasn't a great choice of word.
Sup /vr/. I was doing some thinking, and I'd like to hear some of the terms you guys used back in the day, whether it was exclusive to you or not, and where some of the terms might have came from. For instance, when I was a kid, we always called stages "boards." I picked it up from my cousin, and just assumed it was some bastardization of stage or level, until I heard other people online using it as well.
The only game I remember using the term 'boards' for stages was DX-Ball. I didn't really play many other breakout clones but I would've assumed they were called that for being flat and stationary, i.e. you wouldn't use that term when referring to a sidescroller.
>>2843792
>we always called stages "boards."
I never understood this. The only way it would make sense is if you just spent your whole life playing board games and moved over to video ones, but even then the instructions are usually pretty unanimous in calling it a stage or level, or even a world.
>>2844035
>the only way it would make sense is if you just spent your whole life playing board games and moved over to video ones
That's exactly what happened. "Board" is a very old name. People said "board" in the late 70s/early 80s.
