Hello, is there a bluetooth dongle to connect a bluetooth controller to old consoles?

If not, is there a way to build one? Thanks.

I dare you to go into GameStop and ask for a dongle. Be prepared to fistfight.

Any argument against random battles in old RPGs is an argument for an inferior mode of gameplay. When you're not battling enemies in an RPG, what are you doing? You're playing a literal walking and talking (reading) simulator.

I think a lot of times it's the encounter rate that irks people, not the "randomness" itself. Say the battles occurred 80% less often in FF7, for example. Do you still think people would bitch about muh random battles in that game, then?

If you're trying to do something specific like search an area for treasure it can seem irritating to get interrupted by something you have no control over -- like random battles. That's fair and I understand that. What I don't understand is why everyone's so damned impatient. When you're interacting with the battle system in an RPG you're engaging in the most interactive, fun part of the game which is also the core mechanic that fundamentally makes it "a game." It's not a punishment.

No RPG ever in the history of RPGs has had some kind of platforming or puzzle.

I'm an expert on the topic you can believe me.
>>
>>3045173
If random battles are suppose to be the meat of the game, then why isn't the game just a collection of battles instead?
>>
>>3045175
Point taken. I meant more in general, very broad terms. It's not uncommon for RPGs to have more or less half-baked puzzles out of battle. But even then, the fact remains: if you want a puzzle game, play one, if puzzles are so important to you. Isn't an RPG's main "hook" supposed to be its battle system?

Context, anon. All games require this to some extent, even Pac-man (recall the cut-scenes in that game).

I wanna get an AVI to HDMI adapter to use on a flatscreen for my N64, but I can´t tell what adapters won´t stretch the image to 16:9 instead of 4:3, anyone use any/know of any?

That's the opposite of what you want to get, that takes hdmi and converts it to av.
You need av to hdmi.

Most promising SD => Super Nintendo (SNES) card out there?

I may go with SD2SNES but I've heard there are better ones out there capable of dumping ROMs as well

Super Everdrive China Version for $60 off of aliexpress. It doesn't play any of the special chip games, but there's only a handful of those worth getting anyways.

How much are you willing to pay for a legit SNES game nowadays?

In my country there's people who're selling games up to $145 which is insane.

As for me, I'm not paying any more than $15, no matter the game.

I don't fall for that "it's a collector's thing" bullshit.

My SNES broke a few years ago, it was literally just when TBBT became popular and old consoles got expensive as fuck.
Should've bought 10 SNES for a buck each when that was still a thing on ebay.
when will I ever get to play my games again.

>inb4 emu
But I have dem games ;__;
>>
>>3043574
I try to keep it under 10 but I'm willing to pay 15 or more if it something I reaaaaaaaally want.

The one outlier is Megaman X2 for $75 a couple weeks ago, it was the last X game I didn't have and the rest I got around the times they were released, either as gifts or for real cheap.

I only paid that much because I know the majority of them are over $100

if you're willing to get a columous piece of plastic to store 4mbytes of data that could be stored in a sdcard without losing any functionality, i guess it is a collector thing huh

nothing wrong with that, but i dont waste my time unless its special chip games, i dont get you guys crying over this, even if its multi million stock SMW sent out with the console

Probably the same reason why Sonic's arms weren't blue, or that Mario wears overalls. It makes them stand out at the tiny sprite size.

Wait. What?

MAME supports autofire now? Holy shit, this changes everything. All those games that I didn't bother playing on MAME because I didn't want to fuck up my hands, like Raiden and Tiger Heli. PS Yes I know about the mame versions that have autofire but I didn't bother with them.

List some good button-mashing arcade games for me to play. My faves are Out Zone, Metal Slug series, Fix Eight, etc.

why would you do that, mashing buttons is fun, i imagine beat 'em ups 10x more boring with autofire

Am I the only one that never really understood the story in secret of mana?
As a kid I always assumed it was me and the story was too complicated for me and I lacked the context to properly understand it.
I always felt like I was missing some information or background for the characters actions or relationships.

When I replayed it as an adult it still seemed very cryptic to me.
Either I'm missing something or something was lost in translation or people don't give the game enough credit for being super cryptic on confusing before that was even a "thing" with jrpg.

It's well documented that large amounts of text were cut due to it orginally being designed to be a SNES-CD game and the cart version not having enough space to fit it all.

So no. You aren't the only one.
>>
>>3035389
But square ported that thing to android even.
Why didn't they just remake their orignal version?

Or why didn't they release it on psx instead?
Why would they do that and is there a way to read the original script?

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/tempo/tempo.htm

32x: The story tracks the eponymous hero's journey across a dance show called the Major Minor Show, but how much of that is actually reflected in play? Very little, from the looks of it. Gameplay consists of methodically exploring each level for hidden goodies and carefully navigating a sequence of tricky jumps. While such conventions would make sense for a traditional platformer, they lack both the rhythm and the expressive qualities that the disco motifs seem to demand.

Game Gear: Admittedly, cutting so many major features makes this a very simple game, but that's precisely what makes it work. As good as these features might have been individually, there was just something about them that refused to work together. Each one pulled Tempo in disparate directions, preventing the game from ever fully realizing any one facet of itself. Since many of them are absent in Tempo Jr., the game is finally free to do one thing and do it well.

Sega Saturn: While the game presents itself much like a typical 2D platformer, it doesn't make sense to approach it like one. In fact, it doesn't make sense to approach this as a cohesive game. Super Tempo jumps so frequently between jokes that it makes a lot more sense to look at it as a loosely connected series of gags. One minute, you're flying through classic arcade games like Asteroids and Missile Command; the next, you've powered up and are punching apart a robot chicken.

>Unfortunately, for as great as the game was, Super Tempo was never released outside Japan.
Pretty good review. Thoughts on this series?

This game is one of the most expensive, rare games for the Game Boy. It's like $400 for just the cartridge.

Do any of you guys own this game? Fuck, I want to play it but I'm not going to shell out that kind of money.

It's possible you could acquire the read only memory contents of the cartridge and execute them within a program that emulates the Game Boy hardware.

I'm a purist. I enjoy experiencing games the way that they were created to be experienced. I have to play the games on the original hardware or else I feel like I didn't really "beat" the game.

The first time I played all the way through Mega Man 2 I was emulating it on a PSP, I had thought the NES games were "impossible" so just saving every thirty seconds was OK.

I feel so retarded now, a decade later, since I consider Mega Man 2 one of the easiest "hard" games on NES.

Every once in awhile I'll use a savestate if it avoids really, really pointless grindy shit that just wastes time, but generally I feel like if you're not gonna at least try to beat a game the way it was made, what's the point? You really need to see the story in a fucking NES game?
>>
>>3037460
I really enjoy games that are hard to beat, but when i'm re-playing retro games i just use save states to complete the game in one go.

I believe that the first time you play a game, it should be blind (without guides, ss or anything besides the game and your skills).

Is this how a crt looked like? I actually find it quite appealing. The blur and bleed mask the jagged edges of the low-poly models. I think this is why people try to emulate crts to make jagged edges less edgy. Blur+bleed=smoothness

No, that's what an emulator, filter and scanlines look like.
>>
>>3040764
>Is this how a crt looked like?

No, this is how a certain model of CRT as viewed by a certain distance looked like.

>The blur and bleed

FYI, N64 games have an internal blur filter for anything 3D. I don't even know if your shot is accurate in this regard. CRTs also don't blur crap.

Bleed isn't caused by a CRT, but the input signal, in this case NTSC composite, which crams a lot of information in a single sinusoidal stream, and this is a lossy way of carrying images.

>jagged edges of the low-poly models

You don't know what you're talking about.

Big eBay stores often hike prices like that temporarily while they sort out stocking issues because it'll usually prevent anyone from buying it in the interim. It's very common and also easier than relisting the item for some reason.

So yeah, nothing to see here.

Most of the library is pretty fun, but some of it is crazy expensive. If you play whatever you can get your hands on and you'll probably end up loving it.

Would love an Everdrive quality flash cart for it but that probably won't happen, at least not for a very long time.

The fighting games on it are pretty similar to each other, but they're all good games, so just get the one with the characters you like.

Besides that, Metal Slug, Puyo Pop, Card Fighters, Baseball Stars.
