I feel like I'm obsessed with NES for a long time. I never owned it, so I can't have any nostalgic feelings about it.
It's truly a great console full of awesome games and arcade ports and I feel like it's the greatest console of all tome.
Any thoughts?

About to buy a SEGA Saturn at a retro game store when it ships in tomorrow.
What are some must have games for it?
Im not sure. I had one that my crackhead stepdad sold.
I had Shining in the Darkness, and it was kewl. Shining Force 3 was something I wanted. According to Saturnfags Arcade games, and shumps are the bread and butter of the console.

Not an expert on Saturn by any means but I know that Fighters Megamix and Nights into Dreams are absolutely essential.

If you mean surpassed consoles completely then in the 2000s with 6th generation. Prior consoles had an edge in some form or another. Scrolling, launch hardware capability to present PC hardware, etc.
Was Sega just a one-hit-wonder? They couldn't seem to be able to capitalize on the Genesis success.

Ya that whole like nearly 80 years of making arcade games. Ya you modern gamer kids wouldn't know about that. To be fair I thought they only went back to the 80s maybe late 70s until I learned about their origins in the 2000s.
They made a lot of great games, the console market is tough to crack though.
What are some fun shmups with point-blank mechanics? Weapon number 2 from Axelay and the laser from Donpachi is what I'm looking for. Gradius when firing up close with options also applies.

Name some good ones. Usually the spread shot isn't even the strongest weapon.

I previously tried buying some replacement rubber bits for my SNES controller, but they were worse than the original ones.
Any recommendations for the best way to refurbish a SNES controller?
Are your pads worn or is the silicone torn?
A decent temporary fix is rubbing graphite on the pads...but I'm guessing you want them 100%?
You could try finding a controller with good buttons in bad shape or otherwise broken, salvaging the parts you need.
I'm sort of in the same boat on a dreamcast controller...

Same my snes controller has a worn out dpad and I'm looking for high quality replacement pads, anyone know where to find the best?
Dunno about SNES controllers, but you can fix a NES controller by salvaging an N64 controller.
There are some Sega Saturn, PS1, and GameCube games I want to get re-surfaced since they won't play anymore (or certain parts won't play).
Do you guys have any good recommendations for where I can do this?

Many local game stores do it with professional machines, don't bother with those cheap disk resurfacers. My local /vr/ store offers it for $3 a pop.

Damn, that color scheme Civ3 is as 2000s as it gets when you compare it to the more watery 90s palette of Civ2.
Is there a comprehensive resource or guide on emulating psx on psp to recommend? alot of things i find on google seem contradictory and out of date.
