I recently came across this game from the long forgotten Twinbee series.
It essentially plays like Sonic The Hedgehog 2, except with the added feature of being able to SOAR HIGH INTO THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE AND OFF INTO DEEP SPACE- any time you want.
Here's a link, I hope someone else can appreciate how ahead of its time this game was.
You can play it in browser here:

Let me know what you think.

Shameless self-bump
Also feel free to recommend other overlooked games ITT

Thanks. I will look into it in the morning. I saved the pic just in case i forget the name.

Its more like Rocket Knight than Sonic 2. Also that site you posted is awful.
>that kid who had to take a hit and run through the hard part
>That kid that used sting chameleon power to run through everything in Sigma's fortress
>>3172659
And?
That's a perfectly valid strategy.
>that kid who can't think of simple solutions to complex problems
That's you, in case you couldn't tell what I was getting at.
>that kid who implemented a clever strategy that makes the game look like a cakewalk
Fuck you, Kai.
What does /vr/ think of pic related?
I thought it was pretty enjoyable. Aside from the two parts you can completely dead end yourself which was kind of bullshit.
loved it, and then really loved flashback.
never beat this when it first came out, though. it was a bit hard and no internet to search for guides.

A game for the ages.
Amazing vision of outlandish, alien landscapes. Probably my favorite cinematic platformer.
Absolutely love this game. It's got an incredible atmosphere that very few games can match. It's got virtually no replay value, but honestly, that's fine.
Really enjoyed the interactions with the sidekick character, too. Hard to make a player care so much about an NPC without any dialogue at all.
I want to talk about the Neo Geo!
Quick summary for anyone not acclimated to this system: In the early 90's, the gaming company SNK was making numerous arcade games and decided to make a home system with the exact arcade hardware they used. The games were perfect 1 to 1 ports, but the system was $600 and game carts ranged from $200 to $300 EACH.
SNK made many famous series including King Of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, and Metal Slug, among others.
A Neo Geo CD console was released in 1994 to bring down the cost of games, but due to limited...

There are several MVS cabs floating around /vr/ it's a nice simple multigame cab that's a natural step between consoles and cabs before you learn about jamma and various kick harnesses or embark on trying to built a proper mame cab.
Personally I'm still pretty fond of Magician Lord. I still haven't managed to beat that "in the clouds" level even with unlimited credits and I like to think I'm pretty good.
Generally the most popular games are the Metal Slug series or King...

Mismatch Doomguy stomps
Should have made Ranger vs Doomguy
>>3171889
Ranger is the Quake 3 bot based on the Quake guy. The Quake guy is unnamed. You don't go around calling Doomguy 'Doom' do you?

>Who would win in a fistfight
Gonna have to go for the one who actually fights with his fists, here.
The controls are kinda stiff, the animations are ok at best for the time. The constant grinding is actually good in my opinion. The bosses in the game are a challenge only because of the stiff controls. The music is pretty much all the same and repetitive. It is a great game even with it's flaws. I don't think it is a 250 dollar game I do think more people should play it.
>>3171694
Emulated it on a whim like 14 years ago, it was fun, but the flying bee bosses (was there more than one?) were too hard.
>>3171696
The bees have a pattern. Once you know the pattern they are a push overs.
I agree with you. I would pay 50$ max for this game.
It is a fun game though and deserves a playthrough by all gamers.
I give it a 4 out of 5
Post your favorite penguin games.
I'll start with an obvious one.

Penguins are the best.
'twas the lack of penguins that killed modern gaming.
That, and blue skies.
The goggles do nothing

Nah son you have to go to GAME and ask for Disc Care for £1.
My friend used a disc dr once on a DC game. The while thing looked like some weird fan pattern afterward. He eventually sold it to funcoland, who had to test it before buying. It worked fine
They make you buy the funniest gadgets for the simplest things in Capitalist land.
In Eastern Europe, people just exhale some hot air on the disc, wipe nicely and if the disc is salvageable the job is done. No monetary or time costs.

Finally beat it last week after years of hardship!

Puzzles were too hard for me as a child. Also, nightmare fuel.
Could never beat the final boss. Finally did recently.
Also the NES TMNT game. Shredder was absolutely pathetic compared to the hell of getting to him.

What's the best /vr/ Let's Play and why is it Jurassic Park Trespasser by Research Indicates?
>>3187485
It looked cool back in the day. I've never known anyone that's actually played it though. It's one of those games where I'd rather just watch YouTube footage of rather than actually play.
>>3187491
Did you watch the one OP mentioned? It is a masterpiece, very informative, more fun than playing that buggy mess of a game.
I think most of us can agree Capcom vs SNK 2 is still the best fighting game in the last 16 years.
>>3181527
>not Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
>not Garou Mark of the Wolves
