Never been a fan of the Shinning games.
Shouldn't have ditched Tamaki and Takenouchi for other character designers and musicians (collab with Sakuraba would have been great), but Shining Force III is all kinds of awesome.

Without modding my consoles, what is the best quality output on each system?
Here's what I know so far
>Component: Wii, PS2, Xbox, DREAMCAST and GC
>S-Video: N64, PS1
But I don't know about the Saturn, Genesis, or SNES... Can you guys help? Not eurotrash so I can't use SCART without modding

Hello gents, what is the best -->arcade game focused<-- portable emulator machine out there?
Bear in mind I'm going to want them stgs and such, and some of them might be modern.
I want something out of the ordinary, if I have to save for lots of time, I will.

I've actually had some faggots tell me that the Crash series is far better than Mario 64.
As someone with little nostalgia for either, and having only beaten Mario 64 a few years ago, I just can't understand the rationale outside of these idiots not giving it much real thought.
How does this basic-ass, no momentum, hallway simulator game objectively come even close to how Mario 64 and how it not only wrote the book on proper 3D platforming, but hasn't aged terribly in regards to its mechanics either?

Having played both, most times I'd rather boot up Crash than SM64. If it makes a difference, I'd also rather replay a DKC game than a Mario game on the SNES.

I can't, I completely agree with you. I must admit I absolutely love this onenot retro however.
I like them alright, but they strike me as the arcade genre most likely to be intentionally designed as a quarter-muncher rather than something designed with a doable 1CC in mind.
The Sega Saturn is the worst hardware ever designed. It fails at absolutely everything : perrformance, cost, ease of use, you name it.
Seriously, name a design worse than this. Even the Jaguar was at least cheap to manufacture.
it had the best 2D graphics of the 5th generation. the irony being that it got a shoddy port of SotN, one of the best 2D tittles of the 5th generation.
still, it excels at arcade fighters and some side-scrollers. a shame you need to be proficient in moonrunes to fully appreciate one.
There's no way I would have bought one back in the day, but I do admit for particular tastes it does offer something the ps1 can't.

hey /vr/, would it be possible to to mod an snes controller wire to a gamecube port so i can plug it into a gamecube adapter to play on my pc? i'm trying to learn small and easy soldering/mods as i have no experience in that field, but it interests me and i'd love to learn.

God, Everquest looks so comfortable.

When i first played this i was 10 and didnt understand how to exploit junctioning. It was pretty good, for a 10 year old.
When i replay it now its a fair bit more painful.
Music is absolutely godtier though. 'The castle' is probably hands down nobuo's best piece of work. Its Beethovens pathetique condensed into 3ish minutes.
Also that recurring idee fixe throughout the game is outstanding.

Death Mountain, Zelda 1.
Nearly half the size of the total overworld.
Filled to the brim with tough bosses and monsters.
Contains two of the most powerful items in the game.
Demands you be absolutely decked out in items and supplies to get through it.
Now this, this is a dungeon!
What are some other awesome dungeons like this one? The kind that throw you through challenge after challenge, the kind that make you forget what the outdoors even looked like, the kind that perpetuates dread through every step?

That pic was chosen because almost every other pic is spoilers of the map. Was hoping to find someone who would draw a stylized version of the dungeon, but people don't seem to do that much for Zelda 1.
Incidentally, I remember a guy on /vr/ here was making renders like this. I wonder if this one is by the same guy.

Link's Awakening dungeon 7, Eagle's Tower. This is the best Zelda dungeon. It's a difficult puzzle (at least it was when I was 12) but it's completely fair. You always have some idea what you're supposed to be doing and feel like you're making progress.
