How do you catalogue your collection? What's the best website or is a good old spreadsheet still the best way to go?
A Letterboxd for games would be nice.
The Collectorz website has a program you buy as well as smartphone apps. Games, movies, books, comics... all that
I have some minor issues with their morals and goals of how they handled certain features and updating. But to be real their program is top tier.
I paid one time for their pc program and have their Android and iOS apps. Even though I only have owned iPads for reviewing iOS apps, I still bought their app and it works great on both.
My only issues are that -
1. once in a while I find a game that is not on their list in name or upc (like...

I don't. I often find old games I didn't even remember I had and it's like, w00t!
I was playing one of these carts when I accidentally hit the side of my nes, freezing the game. Now the cart won't boot up at all. Is there a way to get it working again or is it fucked?
Have you even tried opening it up yet to find the problem?
>>3282726
Yeah, it's just a board with some chips on it. Nothing that I have the capacity to fix.
>>3282759
Is it a Famicom cart connected to an NES converter? If so, you should reseat it. Otherwise, these glop-top multi-carts can burn out with time, but it's likely unrelated to smacking your NES.

Which version of Killing Time should I pick for my first playthrough?

What if alternate universe Nintendo bought Midway to battle the Sega and Namco's arcade ports in the 5th gen?
Exclusive MK, Ready to Rumble, Hydro Thunder, etc. Does it fill the void outside of RPGs?
>>3282478
Exclusive MK3/UMK3/MKT would be a big deal, and would give it a flagship traditional fighter....but that's about it.
>>3282485
You kidding? Midway had the rights to the legacy Williams properties too. Can you imagine all the wacky stuff that Nintendo could do with those?
>>3282686
Like what?
Are there some 3D action/adventure games that have that colorful, grand adventure feel like my Shonen animes.
For the PS1 in particular?
The only reference for what I'm looking for are the DQMJ games on the DS, not retro yes, but as I've noted it's a reference for what I'm looking for.
In fact I'd say much of the art for Dragon Quest has the aesthetic and feel of what I'm referring to, but as I've also noted, I'm partial to a more 3D action/adventure game and not a turn-based RPG, however RPG elements are okay.
>>3282063
Try the mega man legends games.
>>3282158
Have MM64 and really like that, even though its probably the most inferior version of the game.
>>3282163
If you have a ps3, they're all three on sale for a pretty good price.
Or was that last week?
Favorite retro Sonic game?

Sonic CD, followed by Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

What game is in that picture?
I own an NES that has the flashing screen of death. At first I figured I'd get a NES2 since it doesn't have the same problem but the I looked at the price of them and the price of replacement pins and realized replacing the pins in the NES would be significantly less expensive. Does anyone have any experience with replacing the pins? A guy on YouTube said I should try cleaning first (he also recommended using a Game Genie) but I think the pins are bent to the point where replacement is necessary.
You can bend the pins back.
Take out the connecter and boil it. Seriously it works. https://youtu.be/TnxZIuYb9WU

Not a permanent fix.
What's the most obscure vidyakino you think you've played?
Pic related. Name just ONE person besides me that has played Mob Rule
vidyakino?

Kino is German for cinema or film but it's used as a transplant meme from /tv/ in place of "high art".
Dark secrets of Africa. Never met a person that played it or even heard about it. Hell, the localpiratedidn't even know what it was when I got it from him.
Is this the greatest retro game of all time?
Also, how do you feel about Kirby games?
>>3281289
It is pretty great. But greatest? Nope.

>silent hill 2
>retro

kirby games are bretty gud. I just got kirby 2 for gb
What do you guys think about this RPG? Playing it right now for the first time and I'm loving it!
Also Riza a cute.
One of those pretty overrated games that people hype up due to it being "exclusive" to Japan. It's fairly easy and straight forward, a even easier FF6 but no real interesting plot points.
>>3281251
The only thing that really makes it unique is the spell system, but otherwise it's just a really solid RPG.
I can't get into this game. The physics are kinda weird and the controls are too stiff and don't read inputs very well. Randomly spawning monsters and no continues kinda hurt the game as well. What am I missing to enjoy this, /vr/?
>>3280887
Actual skill. I know this sounds like trolling but it's not. The controls in this game are excellent; the fault must lie with you. It's a hard game, so if you want to enjoy it, you'll have to keep at it. Don't lose heart, anon
>>3280920
>git gud
ftfy
>>3280887
I'll bit (no pun intended)
You just need to git gud.
Except for the randomly spawning monsters, that's actual bullshit.
Was it alright to kill all the Metroids? the Metroids did nothing wrong, they just lived the way they where on their planet. They where exploited bye evil beings, but instead of dealing with the evil beings, they decided to kill the Metroids instead. And there where big consequences for that.
>>3280832
Metroids gud. Mother brain bad.
See in super the metroid u saved in 2 saves u in the last moment
>>3280832
METROIDS DINDU NUFFIN DHEY IS GUD ALIENS DHEY WAS ONLY PROTECTIN DHEIR HOME
>>3280832
It WAS wrong to kill the Metroids, because it led to Fusion happening.
Not that Samus or anyone else had any idea what would happen if they wiped out the Metroids, or why they were there to begin with.
Any fans of the Wrestle Angels series around? I've got a hankering to give the series a try, but the only one I've played is Bishoujo Wrestler Retsuden Blizzard Yuki for the SFC, which is more a spinoff. I dig the management aspects of it, but I'm more in the mood for story/drama, which I understand some of the other games in the series had a deeper focus on before it started moving towards being a more straight-up simulation game.
I'm thinking of picking up Double Impact for the PCE-CD, if only because I love the general aesthetic of PCE-CD games....

I've only played the SFC game and wasn't in the mood for simulation at the time.
Will check the other games since the idea interests me.

These are surprisingly fun for turn-based anime-style pseudo-"card battle" wrestling games.
Logic patterns screen translated for Blizzard Yuki.

Moment where you realized you've played through much or even most of the game "wrong".
I was still mostly spamming GFs and had little clue how to even use the Junction system in FFVIII until sometime after I got the Ragnarok in Disc 3.
>>3280123
Yeah that happened to me too when I played FF8. Then I got to that one fight where you can't use your GFs or you'll kill what's her name that's fused with that evil lady. And I was like "shit, I am in no way prepared for this."
I think right around disc 3 was when I realized playing FF8 at all was wrong.
I've played Final Fantasy VII 20 times.
I've played Final Fantasy IX 10 times.
I've played Final Fantasy VIII1times.
Why do you think this is?
