ITT: games only you playedI'm a guy and I don't get why my parents got me this game? Honestly, it's a good game, but my parents wouldn't have known the difference, I remember it was my favorite game for a while, they didn't think it was weird?
>>2937019
>any Capcom NES Disney game

"no"

Unless someone in here has Outback Joey or some shit /thread
OP here just replayed it, what a fucking trip, I must have been like 5 when I had this game, can you remember being 5? That was like 20 years ago, things were so simple then...
Does the game boy have region lock?
>>2931808
I remember one friend of mine said that his dad got him Pokemon blue but in French, he traveled abroad, I dunno
no
next question
>>2931808
the first Nintendo handheld with anything resembling region lock was the DSi
uhhhh this sucks, there's like.. no cool games here.
just a bunch of wussy crap, maybe stewart would like this board
this cool password system is pretty cool
does anyone else really wanna play a post-apocalyptic survival king of the hill game
If someone actually owned an Atari Lynx console, how did they even carry it with them?
Fannypack
>>2929049
I had one as a kid, my mom used to carry it with her in her bag.
Or a backpack.
Model 2 is quite a bit smaller but yeah, you needed a bag or case up until 1996
Does this game suck? Or is it just me?
Grew up in the NES era, but never played Tecmo Super Bowl. I tried it a couple days ago and the gameplay felt sloppy. Am I playing it wrong? Or is the game really just overrated?
It was the first NFL/Players* licensed NFL game worth a damn. Therefore, it was fun and hype back then to finally be playing a good football game. Its popularity resurged in recent years due to the amusing novelty of hacking it to include modern teams and players.
It's not a good game, though. I never found it fun to play other than it being an NFL game and me being a football-loving kid. So, taking the subject of the game away from it, yes Tecmo Super Bowl is an overrated game as far as play quality.
*most of the players, anyway. Certain QBs were excluded...

That's fair. I don't hate sports games or anything, and to be honest, I kinda like the original Tecmo Bowl. I find it has better gameplay.
The hockey games from that era, like Blades of Steel and NHL '94 aged so much better. Would you agree?
>>2938351
I agree more or less. I probably had more fun with TB than STB as well.
And yes, hockey games were better. I preferred Nintendo Ice Hockey to Blades of Steel, but BoS was fun in its own way. And the early 90s EA NHL games were my favorite of all sports games. Those have a modern romhack community following too.
Mega Man X3 is about three times harder than X1. Good game, but damn. Now I see why I didn't get as familiar with it as a child.
>>2936807
X3 and X2 I feel are on par with the NES series in difficulty. X is just unusual for a Mega Man game because of how easy it is. For many people, it was the first Mega Man they ever beat.
Mega Man 2 is the only one near as easy, and it's still harder than X.
>>2936835
I'm going to disagree here because a) I don't think NES MM is hard and b) MMX2 is way, way easier than MMX.
>>2936835
>>2936842
Seconding this.
X2 is by far the easiest based on the design of the levels and tools you're given.
X1 is easy, but the final Sigma gauntlet is hard enough that you have to actually do well throughout.
X3 you just take a shitload of damage from enemies and theres a lot of one hit kills.
hey /vr/
what are some good game boy games, excluding pokemon gen 1 and tetris?
2 games in 1. Good submarine game, and bestever battleship version.
>>2936390
Warioland 1 and 2, Mario land 2, Dr Mario, Yoshi Cookie, Donkey kong land, The legend of Zelda Links Awakening, Kirby's dreamland, Metroid 2.
Tons, basically. Not even scratching the surface here.
>>2929383
Why are you dipshits even answering to this thread. At least let it die.
What are you playing this winter? Any goals to finally try, beat or 100% any games?
I am working on beating
Diddy Kong Racing
Pokemon Silver
Castlevania Rondo of Blood
Sonic 2 (never beaten a Sonic game before)
Xenoblade Chronicles
Currently working on the Megami Tensei remake in Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei. Excited to start Pokemon Red on my New 3DS Pokemon Edition I have pre-ordered because I'm a fag (not sorry, will probably replay Soul Hackers on it too). I never have an urge to 100% games, I'm usually a credits and move on kind of guy unless I want to replay something.
Recently finished DoReMi Fantasy and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, playing Paper Mario for the first time
>>2935954
It's not retro, but I'm working throughDrakengard[/and the rest of the series, but then I'm moving onto Metroid, which I now realize only has 2 games which are considered Retro by the boards rules.
Then I might go for something like Onimusha, Faxanadu, or Clock Tower and Silent Hill.
What should I play /vr/?
I just finished Final Fantasy 7, and i'm ready to tackle some other classics I haven't played.
Final Fantasy 8, Xenogears or Metal Gear Solid? Feel free to recommend any others!
Classics are a classic for a reason. There's no real wrong choice here.
Suikoden
>>2935759
I can't really recommend Final Fantasy VIII. For everything it does right, it also does something really bad.
The stat system is broken. Either you sit around drawing magic like a chump whenever you enter a new area, or you refine items and break the game within the first 2 hours. Magic also becomes useless because using good spells will decrease the stats of your characters.

Anyone else play this? What's /vr/'s thoughts on it? I found it enjoyable as a kid so I picked it up recently for a good price.
Very cool sidescroller with a fun gimmick. My only issue is that when I played it years ago, some of the stages seemed overly long.
Well worth a shot for anyone lurking right now.
>>2935654
Thanks. I thought about getting Medievil but it was more expensive and I had never played it.
>>2935664
Medievil is also good, but the lack of camera controls kinda bugs me. If you have some self control, take it for a spin in an emulator before buying it.
What are some good non-Mario Kart retro racing games?
I thought Chocobo Racing was fun back in the day.
Neo Drift Out
how the fuck do i beat this
I don't know. And no walkthrough on YouTube.
But I do know the music is really good. Even the composer thinks it's underrated.

i just had to grab the small rock thingy with the b button.

If you actually enjoy this game, there are also Die Maus and Tweety & Silvester by the same developer on the GB in a very similar style. And ofcourse there are Monster Max and Altered Space.

You ever get good at the old bomb jump?
Man that area required some intricate bomb jumps for those card thingies.
To answer your question. No, I managed to beat the regular last boss but those damn jumps made me rage quit.
>>2932634
I had too if i wanted to beat rainbow palace
>>2932634
The real pain was getting the gold cards for the big bosses.
>The whole Cerberus fight
Holy fuck, was that annoying.
There was a thread about multicarts a couple weeks ago with this multicart as the OP picture. I said I'd buy one and make a thread about it, so here's the thread. This multicart is available in either a red or gray shell and cost less than $20.
I'm willing to field any questions about it, but I'll say right off the bat that I do recommend it. It's a great way to play NES games that are very rare and expensive for a low cost.
>NES multicart
>Team Ninja-era Ryu Hayabusa
>2k3 Turtles
Thanks for the trigger, OP.
>>2931443
Multicarts and bootlegs have always had cover art like that. The cart has the 3 NES Ninja Gaidens and the three regular TMNT games plus Tournament Fighters, so I don't mind the cover art.

>This multicart is available in either a red or gray shell and cost less than $20.
Where do you buy it?
What are some good space exploration games on consoles?
A game where i can just fly around and participate in dog fights, upgrade my ship, etc.
It seems that games like this are usually exclusive to PC but I'm hoping there's something close to that concept that was available on retro consoles.
