Get an american version and a decent TV that supports NTSC plus PAL?
Though I had an American SNES and a PAL Megadrive, enjoyed them both equally.
>>3168020
SNES games are already appallingly slow as it is, I'd hate to imagine how playing them at 15% less fps would be like.
>>3168115
Try using an american ROM with an emulator and limit the fps to 50 (you'll feel the slowdown).
Then try playing the european ROM with its default setting.
You will notice is not the same at all, playing Sonic in PAL I never noticed any difference against its NTSC version.
Ages or Seasons?
>>3167883
Played Seasons first when i was young. Never beat it. Finally now im 21 played through and finished it.
Played through Ages after via link found Ages to be quicker/easier not that its a bad thing.
Cant really pick a favorite but OoS Din is my waifu
>>3167883
Ages had less bullshit.
Seasons had best girl.
You have to play both of them for the real ending so they're technically one game...
What are the best four-player N64 games? Any hidden gems?
I'm having an 'N64 party' on Friday and I have an ED64 loaded with a full no-intro set, so anything goes. I already have the obvious ones planned, like Mario Party, Smash, Mario Kart, Bomberman, etc. I'm just wondering if there's anything else cool out there that I may not know about.
Goemon's Great Adventure has a 4 players mode but I think you need to beat the game first, if you have an ED you might be able to download a save file or something (though I recommend actually playing through the game yourself on single player, it's a great game), the default is only 2 players.
The MP is hilarious and chaotic, you can piggy back your friends and stuff.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_64_games
I JUST built a PC with a N64 emulator exclusively to play 4 player games. I tried pretty much all of the 4 player titles one by one, though some didn't work. Here's my suggestions:
BATTLETANX (or the sequel, it seems like a fun shooter without being a nightmare to control)
SNOWBOARD KIDS 2 or 1 (if you ever get tired of Mario Kart)
And then there are the amazing shooters, that work very well but have nightmarish controls. I got good at it and it feels natural, but it's hard for newcomers: TUROK: RAGE WARS is amazing (I keep hearing how Goldeneye...

This failed because people felt silly playing it right? So why do tech companies think oculus rift will be any different? Motion controls? Fuck motion controls. I'll stick to playing vidya on a tv screen thats fun for the whole familia
Because the VB wasn't even vr.
It was a shitty red tinted screen you strapped over your eyes to play glorified GB games on.

>People learning things from Nintendo
Nope. As a society, we'll simply rip-off Nintendo indescriminantly until they're gone, then be lost without them.
Learning from their mistakes requires thought and planning which the current industry does not value.
>Top 10 PlayStation 1 games list
>Metal Gear Solid is always #1
>Top 10 Nintendo 64 games list

The fifth console generation wasn't exactly lacking in games. Why do top ten lists always look the same?
>OoT
>bad
Oh boy this thread again.
>>3166716
Could it be that most people don't play every game made for a system so it's more likely that they've only played a few of the most popular games?
>>3166720
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying that it's a very overused pick for best game on the system when there's plenty to choose from. Same deal with Metal Gear Solid - both MGS and Zelda are fantastic games, but they are generic responses.
What video games do you consider to be overrated and/or have aged poorly, /vr/?
Every day till you like it.
Metal Gear Solid
Super Mario Bros
Zelda
Sonic
All Final Fantasy's, except 8 and 9
Castlevania
Metroid
Megaman
Half Life
Diablo 2
>>3166161
These. Also every game ever with the possible exception of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Everything else has aged horribly.
The good.
The bad.
The Very, VERY bad.
Let's get an appreciation/hatred thread going for these miniature machines that we all love or love to hate. I'll start. Pictured is one of the better ones, it has 12 NAMCO games in it. Real microswitch inputs. Pole Position is controlled by twisting the stick left and right. Oh, and it has easter eggs!
What's your favorite?
>>3165298
I was thinking of getting that Pac Man Anniversary one. I like all of the games on it, and I'm a big fan of Pac and Pal
got this one for Christmas one year, the emulation was great , the controls not so much. Except for pole position, the little yellow thing rotated to steer and it worked great. Still had a ton of fun with it as a kid though.
>>3165487
I fucking love that one. I just realized TODAY the one in my OP image can be literally turned backwards (So the joystick is right-handed) without affecting Pole Position at all.
>>3165457
The shape of that one bugs the hell outta me. But having Pac-Man 256 is a treat.
Another of my favorites. I have this one half-modded into a mini C64. It's the best NTSC version of the C64DTV there is.
>You will never enjoy another game as much as Paper Mario
I have played good games, but nothing compares to Paper Mario.
I refuse to play TTYD cash grab.
I thought TTYD was better.
>>3164997
>ttyd is a cash grab!
>I never actually played it though
Better then the original in my opinion, play it dumbass.
>>3165036
I saw a walkthrough though
They don't have to be overtly Christian but they should have Christian vibes or implicit themes/message of the religion or can be interpreted as such.
>>3164981
>>3164981
Basically anything from Japan that tries western themes.
>>3165005
You know things like evangelion are considered blasphemy right? mostly japan just uses christian words because they think they sound cool
Did all other consoles just have shiny silver colour discs the same as music CDs?
>>3164920
>shiny silver
That's... Fucking black.
>>3164920
ps2 had blue dicks.
>>3164927
Some. Some weren't colored.
So I never managed to get into Final Fantasy. Am I missing out? I think I've tried them all. Even had it for Game Boy. The music is great but the game just bores me. FF for SNES looks great yet I did not manage to get into it. I've tried to get into FF a bunch of times but I have always failed so I am wondering if those games are even worth it. Am I missing out on something? First I would blame the genre. I never liked it. I would prefer action oriented games (no discussion if those are RPGs. I never said they are) like Mystic Quest/Final Fantasy Legends, Star Tropics...

Different people like different things. Don't worry about it too much.
That said, I personally think FF4 and FF9 are really fun and I recommend them to everyone. 6 gets a lot of (deserved) love, too.
Not a fan of JRPGs. The turn based combat with random encounters are a turn off.
Can appreciate the story, music, and world though.
>>3164170
Unfortunately RPGs are made for people like you nowadays, being completely real time and no random encounters. So thanks for ruining the genre!
Why did the Digimon games never come close to the quality and fun of the Pokémon games?
>>3163821
Digimon is about a single partner who you stick with the entirety. Pokemon is about throwing them in a box to rot when their usefulness has ended.
>>3163821
Digimon was and still is a Pokemon ripoff.
>>3163821
Why did the Digimon games never come close to the quality and fun of the Pokémon cartoons?
Hey bros, I can finally afford to move out and get my own place. Looking for ideas to get my game room up and running, like pic related (I don't have that many retro consoles though). Share your own for ideas.
>>3163179
I have a shelf to the left of my TV stand for all my games and controllers. Then my TV Stand has two rows with about 6 consoles on each row.

Component consumer CRT (or PVM/BVM)

>Secretly hoped some games would be put on the VC or eShop
I've lost any hope I've once had.
wtf is this?

Jesus fuck, is this a /v/ meme? Fuck off.
Is it possible at all to complete Front Mission 3 via emulation?
My game keeps freezing at Shanghai
I heard there was a method through Retroarch, can someone explain how that works?
>>3162504
I just did with ePSXe, no problems.
>>3162586
Did you complete the entire game? No freezes or anything?
Do you mind saying what settings you had or what iso you used?
>>3162552
That's what I was told on /m/ and nothing more.
I don't know anything about RA shilling, I just want to play Front Mission 3
>>3162649
Yep, entire game with pete's opengl2. Don't remember where I got my ISO from though, since I've had it downloaded for a long time.
