Is it actually perfect?
yes.
>>3279751
I liked the NES version better but yes. It's a perfect game with no flaws, much like Pac-Man, Street Fighter II and Super Mario Bros 3.
>>3279756
>Super Mario Bros 3.
One of these things is not like the other.
Considering picking up a Blaze Twin Mini fightstick for my Dreamcast, having to opportunity to pick one up for $100. Are these things competent fightsticks or are they purely a "collectors piece"? More interested in using it for puzzle fighter/twinkle star sprites, etc than competitive fighters. Anyone have any experience with the Blaze fightsticks?
>>3279510
Most production level fight sticks aren't as good as ones you build yourself, but that's nothing new.
dont do it.
go big or go home, anon.
Just curious, how many of you on this board play consoles and games from before your time? Why do they appeal to you? Also, what was your first console?
First console was SNES.
Enjoy NES and Atari.
>Why do they appeal to you?
Good games
I don't play games before my time because I was born at the perfect time, 1977. Video games (console anyway) have always been largely targeted directly for me and consumers my age.
>>3279029
Pretty much this except I'm '74. I like games from all eras though.

Reminder to not befriend skeletons.
I've had an N64 for 16 years and I've just recently picked up a rumble pak for the first time. What are some games where the rumble pak help with the immersion? I've only tried it with indiana jones and the infernal machine, the effects were slight but it did add to the experience.
Ocarina of Time.
Rumbles near hidden grottoes.
>>3278169
Well, it originally came with Starfox 64 and everytime you were hit, it would rumble. That was pretty neat.
Apart from that it works like vibration in every other (newer) game.
>>3278171
Nice. Was just about to pop that one in.
ITT: games you love to hate
Ghosts and goblins
>>3278078
It made me a jibbering mess when I was a kid and it can still do me in as an adult, I have never gotten as mad at a game as I have Ninja Gaiden
Thoughts on the Ys games?
I played 1-3 on the PS2 so far and I enjoyed them.
>>3277803
Ive enjoyed all the ones Ive played
I played I and II on the TurboGrafx and really had a blast - easily my favorite game on the system, even if there were a few too many moments of "hug wall until hidden passage reveals itself" and "use obscure item here!" to progress.
I really want to get to play Ys 3 and 4 on the PCE, and I have a stack of CDr's just for that purpose - especially with the fan-translation of 4 being out there.
So are there theoretically "lost games" that were downloaded during the limited times broadcasts were available that could still be on some cartridges today? Obviously without the SoundLink bit, but the idea of lost games being rediscovered gives me such a hard on. Very much like people discovering old Doctor Who episodes previously lost from the 60's.
How exactly does this work? Or do I have it all wrong?
>>3276406
The games are just files encoded onto a cartridge. Companies either still have them and someone leaked the files or they were leaked once someone downloaded them.
With the "Lost Games" they pretty much use the cartridge like a blank hard drive, it stores the game's data on it, those that receive the connection to the satellite or network that transmits the files uses a cartridge with more storage capacity.
>>3276424
So are there still cartridges probably floating around with game data on it that could be extracted? There's well known games like Radical Dreamers, BS Zelda and BS F-Zero, but I wonder there's also some with incomplete or partially downloaded weeks.
>>3276427
I don't think so, the cartridges would mostly just be blank if they are even around, you would have to check ROM sites or people who make Reproduction cartridges if you want the real deal. Easier way is Emulation though as you can get the files directly.
The connection to the Broadcast Satelliview network most likely is severed now and Sega Channel is long been since defunct.
Let's talk about the Nintendo 64DD. A relatively obscure piece of hardware released at the very end of the Nintendo 64's lifecycle, this accessory had been continually teased to the public since 1995 as Nintendo's answer to the innovations of the Playstation and later the Dreamcast - namely greater storage capacity and online capabilities for games. It only ever saw a release in Japan, only sold around 15,000 units, only came with 10 pieces of software and all support for the product was withdrawn less than a year after it came out.
So, has anyone here...

Only worthwhile game was Mario Artist.
Does anyone known if you can use a DD on a non Japanese 64?
>>3276021
That's a funny way to spell F-Zero X expansion.
The whole thing was shit there were no gaems.
Always wanted to own one but not for $600
So, I'm dumb and impulsive and I bought an SNES and Yoshi's Island. I've never owned an original SNES and I honestly haven't played any games on the original hardware (I played mostly GBA and DS ports).
But since I've already paid up for it, what games should I get now? Big nintendo fanboy, but I feel I should branch out and check out games published by other companies for the SNES.
I'm willing to spend up to about 50 bucks for a real good game, but anything rarer than that seems out of my price range.
Just wondering what...

Flash Cart Adventure 2: The Return
Obvious answer, but pick up Super Mario World and All Stars.
You can get them both on the same cart for like 30 bucks or so.
>>3274979
>I'm willing to spend up to $50
Chinese Super Everdrive
How much would you/did you pay for this game? It's a game I really like, but it's kind of expensive and I'm trying to decide if I should buy it or not.
Get the GBA version. Not only is it not retardedly expensive like this, but it's actually a tighter game.
Or if you're not retro, get Heavenly Guardian on PS2. It's from the same development team.
>>3274154
The GBA version looks like it's ridiculously expensive too. I'd rather spend a lot of money on SNES game than on a GBA game.
>SD2SNES $199.00
This much
Why don't you like belt scrollers, /vr/?
wouldn't belt scrollers be a name more apt for gradius-style games?
>>3272710
Be quiet.
We're trying to take down the term "beat 'em up" in this board.
>>3272705
Schmups are for robotic old men.
Blood Thread
Recently, I've been working my way through some of the more well-known user mods since I've finally figured out how to load unofficial maps. I finished Death Wish a little bit ago and that great, I'd even go so far as to say that it's better than the base game was. 10/10 add on. Also just finished the first episode of Bloody Pulp Fiction earlier today and that's pretty good too so far. The fuckhuge levels are awesome although there are a few frustrating bits every now and then. I'd probably give it an 8/10 in quality.
Anyone...

"no"
Anyways, whatever happened to the BloodEX source port guy? Did he ever give any kind of eta on that?
>>3267070
Play Inherit the Earth and Hostile Takeover, they're kinda old and were also made by the DW author IIRC.
I'll start.
>Nintendo saved video games after the market crashed in 1983
>Thinking they didn't
>I think OP is onto something here
>The Dreamcast died because of piracy
It was already pretty much dead by the time people learned it could play burned discs.
Are their any worth subbing to on YouTube?
Finally someone makes one. Please re-direct all e-celeb discussion here, no tip-toeing around it by making multiple threads about avgn/some podcast/whatever and killing an old actual vidya-related thread in the process.
