favourite ninja and karate games
an actually worthwhile C+4 game, that loaded
how could it be this good? we never knew...
It's a stretch, but I'm gonna count this one. Slashing your way through a dystopian future with an indestructible katana is pretty satisfying.
what's your favorite handheld, /vr/?
>>3090541
Original Gameboy and Gameboy Color by far.
Wonderswan is a close second
Followed by Sega Gamegear
I don't like handhelds.
Does /vr/ prefer cassettes or CDs?
carts
>>3089060
Didn't only Japan call them cassettes? Unless you mean the few systems that actually used cassette tapes as a storage medium, but you use a cartridge in your pic, so I will assume not.
Carts with exception of most sega since they put capacitors in them that die early.
CDs are too easy to scratch.
Please post old games that play like Alone in the Dark. I remember one where you enter this village and go into a pub and monsters attack you (no not Alone in the Dark 3). I think the game starts with you riding on a horse. I also remember one where you travel through time and you are in WWII and later in the future. Another one where you are in some French museum (you have to disable some laser alarm system) and it's about crusaders. I don't remember any names though.
>>3087905
First one sounds like Ecstatica 2.
The one in the museum is
Time Gate: Knight's Chase
The one where you time travel is
Time Commando
What are the dark fantasy games of olde?
Hexen 2. Great art direction and superb monster animations, but gameplay kind of falls apart in the third hub.
The first two Thief games are pretty much flawless.
Faxanadu
The Immortal
Diablo and Diablo II were gritty as fuck.
ITT broken-ass level design. What were they thinking??? Were they on drugs? I seriously would believe that they were.
Tom "Let's just have the player get fucking lost" Hall.

follow the ways Keen can go, and the level becomes very linear, with the few branching locations almost always being so brief, they happen on the same screen. It's hard getting lost there. It's tedious though, certainly
Keen 3 was rushed as fuck, so the level design was terrible as a result. Hell one level had like 1/3th of it blocked off because of how half-assedly they threw it together
Did that guy from last year ever scan that super mario world guide book?
>>3067726
Face it, he's never coming back.
>>3067835
I guess. He got me and other people good if he was a troll. So Mario thread?
>>3067726
Hey, SMW scan guy here and I'd thought I'd get your hopes up. I'm about to tell you something really important, listen:
I'm not the SMW scan guy.
How does this pic make you feel?
Great.
Did you know you can rent cars? IIRC that round symbol is where the rent cars are parked.
>>3089595
I used to play a lot of card games in Dollet..
this is the game that made me love architecture
Is there any benefit to owning real games for retro consoles compared to using a flash cart/everdrive?
>>3082513
Yeah, they are great long term investments. I bought a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for 100€ five or six years ago, I can sell it today for 400€.
>>3082516
Fucking hell
Damn kid that's some hardcore nerd cred with those skulls.
Which is the best Battletoads game besides the NES one?
>>3094772is that incase?
The one with Bimmy and Jimmy.
>>3094772
battlemaniacs, hands down
Why are there no good games for the Sega Genesis?
>>3094165
The resellers are hoarding them all.
Because youre under the impression jrpg = good game when you couldnt be further from the truth
because i like shit threads too
>Just watche Jurassic World
>Remember how good Jurassic Park was on SNES
>Remember how shitty was on Megadrive
Good times
I had the NES version which was actually pretty good.
>mfw when playing the first person parts with SNES mouse
>mfw it controls like shit
>mfw I realize you're supposed to use the D pad on controller with the mouse
are there any RPGs out there that aren't boring as fuck? i remember enjoying them when i was a kid, but now whenever i play them i'm bored as fuck.
list some RPGs that aren't boring as fuck.
You might try action RPGs like Zelda 2, Golvelius, Battle of Olympus, Faxanadu, Soulblazer, Ys, Secret of Mana, Dragonslayer etc
>>3086994
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 9
Paper Mario
Most of my favorite RPGs are non-retro, I think.
>I have ADD
Ys
>I REALLY have ADD
Half Minute Hero
I'm gonna play this for the first time.
Should I kill the Nemesis each time or not?
I heard you get good loot if you kill it.
I didn't last night but I need to start a new file anyway because I wasted too many items just wandering around.
>>3085634
It takes a good bit of skill and ammo. On a first run, I recommend against it since you'll just wind up with no ammo and no health. If you feel confident later in the game when you're used to the controls, making ammo, and dodging, go right ahead.
Jill can take 10 punches or 8 running punches from Nemesis before she dies. I'm afraid I lack detailed info on RE3's HP and damage values.
Don't try it, specially if you're playing this for the first time. If I'm not mistaken, you can get some items (1 or 2) by defeating him in cutscenes, but they're pretty useless (I think the first item is the upgraded pistol), only the last items are useful.
The reason is not because of bullets (there's plenty), but you'll usually fight him in enclosed spaces, and get hit a lot. This will destroy your herb/spray supplies.
If you follow the plot events clearly, he won't pursue you for long. I believe the longest he pursues you is after...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Dissenting opinion here, you should totally kill him every time. It will put a strain on your resources and give you access to weapons which are kind of fun. The only thing to watch out for is the guns you get from Nemesis can't be used with the specialized ammo from concerting a bunch of Ginpowder to handgun ammo/shells
The N64 had a special functionality for rendering sprites. "Texture Rectangles". It also had multiple 2D-oriented microcodes. It also had a special smooth scrolling mode for 2D.
http://level42.ca/projects/ultra64/Documentation/man/pro-man/pro14/index.html
Despite having far superior 2D capabilities to the PS1, almost nobody was interested in making 2D games for the N64. Such a pity.
It's also got 4 pixels-per-cycle blitting support, so that gives it a theoretical fillrate of 246 MPixel/s which is insane for 1996 graphics.
I like how your picture shows prerendered graphics, designed to look like a 3D game. Even your 2D example is ashamed of being 2D.

Having adequate 2D capabilities compared to the PS1, but no retarded executives forcing abstract muffled 3D visuals almost anybody was interested in making 2D games for the PS1. Such a great thing.
