So i found myself a nice pal and we plan to play a lot of retrogames together. So far,we've played:
-Metal slug 3
-Sunset riders
-Ganbare Goemon 2
Can you guys recommend me some good /vr/ approved games that are playable in multi? Any platform is fine, really. A jrpg would be awesome.
I'd love to add a specific page for multiplayer games on the wiki,if i had enough knowledge about them, too.

So I bought a fami to nes converter at a flea market and I tested it out with the only famicom game I own, being Dragon Quest. The game itself runs perfectly but the audio is severely fucked, sounds like Sugiyama got hammered. I'm guessing this is a hardware thing that has to do with the pins? I'm not a techy guy. Is there anything I can do to fix the audio or should I just get a famicom?

>The game itself runs perfectly but the audio is severely fucked, sounds like Sugiyama got hammered. I'm guessing this is a hardware thing that has to do with the pins?
Pretty much. The Famicom has an extra sound expansion pin that the NES lacked, so if you play certain FC games on the NES that make use of the sound expansion, some of the music will come off a bit muted. It happened to me playing the FC version of Rolling Thunder on an NES with a converter.

Huh, I thought that was only for Disk System games like Metroid or Castlevania 3.

DQ's ost is pretty much the same in Warrior so I figured it would be the same.
>>3274379
Not just FDS games but not DQ are you paying on a clone console?

So I downloaded Seal Team for DOS and it's really a unique infantry sim. Any other simulation games like it? Can be Vietnam or any other theater of war, no preference.

Thanks!
>>3274079
Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis, while not retro, is a solid infantry sim. Some other tactical games off the top of my head are Hidden and Dangerous, Swat 2/3, Rainbow Six and it's sequels, Jagged Alliance...could probably throw X-Com in there too.
>>3274657
>while not retro
So don't bring it up shithead.
>>3275491
It's from 2001, not like I'm recommending ARMA 3 or The Division. Chill out dude.
> It's a gaunt enemy with his back sort of turned towards the screen(ᵃᶰᵈ ᵖʳᵒᵇᵃᵇᶫʸ ᵃ ᵇᵒᵒᵐᵉʳᵃᶰᵍ ᵒʳ ᵏᶰᶦᶠᵉ ᵒʳ ʷʰᵃᵗᵉᵛᵉʳ)
>>3274016
What kind of fighting POSE is this? Every beat'em/belt scroller game has some enemy who's back is turned towards the screen
people say this is suppose to be southpaw
>>3274112
It's called only so many ways to draw sprites facing left or right.
>>3274124
Well how come it's always some dude holding his fists way up
Currently downloading Dragon Warrior 7 to emulate on my laptop - This will be the second game of the series since I played Dragon Quest VIII years ago, which I fucking loved to pieces for its undeniable charm, fantastic story (mad but fantastic story) and brutal difficulty. I would like to replay it but I need to buy a new copy.
Am I to expect a similar feel with Dragon Warrior VII? Or can anyone recommend some of the older titles?
Dragon Quest Warrior General I guess(?)
>>3273954
VII is VERY VERY VERY long, it will probably take 120 hours to complete. I recommend waiting for 3ds version, from my understanding it cuts a lot of the bullshit of the ps1 version, in the ps1 version you don't fight your first slime until like 4-5 hours in where in the 3ds version I heard it's now only like a hour. I recommend going to III or V now, those and VIII are considered the best of the series. My personal favorite is IV and I highly recommend that one aswell. The game's connections are loose...

I'd suggest picking one from 3-6 to instead, 7 is probably not a great starting point.
>>3273974
Fuck meant to say 4-5 hours before you encounter your first slime. I guess I need to proof read my comments.
Did he ever scare you??
>>3273912
No, not really. I was like 19 by the time i actually got to play this game on the gamecube.
Yes that mask is fucking ugly.
>>3273912
I never bothered to look up and didn't even notice the moon (I never talked to any NPCs that didn't seem important) until I had to look at it from the telescope.
Scared the shit out of me.
Itt retro related stuff, games, whatever that you saw that you thought looked awesome
Pic related. Saw adverts on TV for the SNES Super Scope all the time but somehow never managed to get my hands on it - ever. Just looking at it from this pic it still looks badass af to me, kek.
jaguar looked cool in a magazine. Never saw one in a shop though.
>>3273619
my dad bought the gun and game package and 3 other games as a deal when they were getting rid of them.
>>3273619
The super scope is an odd choice to me, surely the regular pistol sized lightgun is cheaper to make and infinitely better to use? I've never used one, how are they?
>>3273735
>The super scope is an odd choice to me
I was a seven year old kid, dude. The adverts for it were great, too. It looked so rad. Perfect marketing. I also really liked Duck Hunt on the NES.
Didn't know if this belonged in another thread, but I discovered that reducing the track by 4 semitones was the "sweet spot" for a new key. It worked better on fast songs, and gives them a more mellow tone overall. Ill post the few that I've worked on but there's still many more.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This game was written completely in Applesoft BASIC. I wonder how difficult it would be to do a C64 port given the extremely similar BASIC.
Playing Fallout 1 for the first time. I am using the Fallout fixt patch, should I go purist or half ?

Purist.
What's the additional content?

How about you just play the game however you want instead of asking questions. It's a role playing game. So you know, role play and make your own decisions like the grown man that you are

Enjoy it cancer i hope you have a great time
Sup, /vr/, these 2 games were developed by BlueSky software in the mid-late 90's and I'd like to figure out which engine they run on. The amazon description for the Goosebumps Attack of the Mutant strategy guide claims that it runs on a modified Doom engine, but the file structure for these games is unlike anything i've ever seen. here are some videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHhgjKaLHJw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQbL0gbWe_E
open it in a hex editor and look around, retard
>>3272143
I Mean, i would if i actually knew how to use one.
Pic of some game files. they use the same resource types.
>>3272137
I think they programmed the engine in house and just reused it for goosebumps. Doesn't look like a doom engine at all.
Are there more games that work and feel very similar to these?

interesting video btw...

The original Final Fantasy resurrection myth.
He actually tags along at some point but his only non-boss appearance in battle is an in-engine cutscene where he gets smashed by Melbu Frauma.
