ITT: Game series that are total console slut/port whores?

Not just the same game, like Tetris, being recreated on every personal computer/console, but also games like the ones this legend stars in where consoles gets one version, a portable version with the same name that is more based on the sequel, a sequel that is still being ported even to modern handhelds, a portable version with the name of the sequel that is more based on it - any random combination.

Resident Evil is pretty egregious

The classic Sonic games have been ported on pretty much every console after Sega dropped out.

It's better than getting the "where the fuck are the goddamn ports" treatment like Viewtiful Joe.

6 KB,
Can we talk about the VMU?

There's a lot of discussion about how fast it eats up battieres, but most of the people who talk about that are basing this off of like, watch batteries from 2000 and 2010. We have much better battery technology now, and I was wondering how long these last with current generation lithium batteries?

This fucking thing is ingenious, by the way, and pretty powerful as a portable console in it's own right, especially for the size and year it was released.

Any love for the Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon games?

I just beat Mystical Ninja starring Goemon! for the umpteenth time last night. It's still my personal favorite game of all time, even though I'm starting to see some of its flaws.

Might restart Goemon's Great Adventure soon, because I never got around to beating that one yet.

Seems like a great series. The humor is top-notch and the gameplay is really well done. I want to play through 2-4 on SNES, but waiting for an English script.
>>
there's actually 8 goemon games that were translated to english
most of them are fan translations though,

Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu (NES)
Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu (MSX)
Ganbare Goemon 2 (NES)
Ganbare Goemon: Sarawareta Ebisumaru! (GB, part of the European Konami GB Collection Vol. 3)
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES)
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (GB)
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (N64)
Goemon's Great Adventure (N64)

That's pretty cool I didn't know about the translation of Karakuri Douchuu.

Do you like pixel art, or is it just for the nostalgia?
144 replies and 41 images submitted. Click here to view.

To be honest, I don't care about pixel art that much, if the gameplay is good, I will like the game. I would say it's a plus if the game looks nice depending of the releasing date I suppose.

Graphic is not really a big issue for me, I still play indie pixelated games on Steam such as Titan Souls for example because of its cool concept.

Fucking love it, but it's only really at its most impressive when it occurs in old games because of an understanding of the restrictions that they had to work with when making it, in terms of hardware capabilities, file size limits, and of course having to fit within the scope and theme of the game itself.

Because it's different

Because someone on the internet said so.

This game was so immensely popular that stores had shortages. My parents bought me a copy and had to sign up on a waiting list for it.

But is that the sort of story you'd hear online? Nope, youngfags will say that this was a vastly unpopular pile of shit that flopped so hard they never made another one like it.

I'm monitoring it for mainly old RTS games. Still quite sad LED Wars, Dark Colony and Conquest Earth aren't on there, but 7th Legion is and will be mine as soon as it gets a discount.

Also not retro but Infinifactory on half price is probably worth buying.

I was born in 92', so I never saw this kind of display, was it as hard on the eyes back then as it is looking at it now? I figure there might be a difference between those really old tube displays and modern flat screens.

I get that the idea for the color choices for CGA and the Apple II was to allow for contrast for displaying text, for business purposes, but sometimes I see images done on these old limitations and I'm amazed that some people managed to make images as good looking as they were with what little colors they had at hand.

The TGA and EGA...

Still wondering if we're ever going to see Deadly Kiss.

Not many maps are made anymore so if you're interested I released one last month, which took me more than a year and a half to complete (lot's of down time).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f7AHHwehe0&feature=youtu.be

http://www.moddb.com/games/shadow-warrior/addons/showdown-in-suzhou

Works in (DOS)box, SWP and Redux. DOSbox is the most recommended but you might get a framerate drop in the main outdoor area of the map.

With the rampant influx of spot on reproductions being created and sold for a fraction of the price (pic related selling for $40 on eBay), don't you think used game stores, places that sell used games and even craigslisters will start miss-pricing original carts because of the inability to tell repros from originals or maybe not even having any knowledge of repros existing?? I'd love for someone to see this cart-only price and then sell me the original for close to the same price.

I'd post the eBay link but you can find it yourself if you give a shit.

Thoughts?

I don't know what you THINK is going to happen, but I'll tell you what will happen. All the places and people that sell used games will sell the repros at the same price as the originals. Most of the sellers don't know the difference,...

>Willing to bet a large number of them won't be willing to let you open up the cart to confirm it's legit either.
>Selling bootlegs is illigal.
Think they'd have to open the cart to confirm it's the actual item.
