Are Wizardry titles good to introduce someone to retro wRPGs or will I get my shit pushed in?
This is a troll, right?
Assuming it isn't, I take it you mean W6 and NOT the old 8-bit Wizardrys.
both
>>3093587
No, I'm not trolling. But I've only played some fairly modern (seemingly, easier) dungeon crawlers like M&M7 and SMT/Persona and I wanted to look for opinions on whether the Wizardries are worth playing and which is the good one to try out.
Hey /vr/, what are some games that are short, but still dripping with quality?
I recently completed Super Mario Land for the first time, and I'm still playing it. I didn't go in expecting much even though the game apparently sold 18 million copies, but was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy the level design a lot and lets be honest Superball Flower>Fire Flower.
After I've had my fill of this, I'll probably move onto the other games in the series. Are they better?
Super Mario Land 2 is generally considered to be a fun little jaunt through some more themed levels. If you liked 1, you'll like 2.
SML3(henceforth called Wario Land) is a change to the system, not only because you play as Wario, but also because of the treasure hunting aspect, different kill mechanics...most often considered to be the best of the original GB series.
Cannot comment on the rest, as I have not played.

Ninja spirit on the turbografx is pretty amazing, despite such a short length. Fun weapons as well. At least it's still 7 levels. Someone skilled enough can beat it in 15 minutes, though the 1 hit death mode is very challenging.
Hint: last level has a ninja pit. It's impossible to get through unless you use a guide
Kirby's Dream Land
Extra mode, 3 health
A friend just sent me this, how much should I pay for them?
>>3091868
ask how much he wants and then lowball him hard
$20 each game.
Anyone here have a Famicom to NES converter? I recently bought a copy of Famicom Wars and I have no idea what converter I should be getting..
Yes. I gutted it from a Gyromite cart.
Good luck finding a real Nintendo brand 60-to-72 pin adapter out of a 5 screw cart in the wild I must have looked at a thousand 5 screw carts before I specifically ordered one and paid like $12. Came with its Japanese Gyromite PCB but no shell for some reason even though that's the cheapest part.
Don't worry too much about the adapter though. OP even if you get unlucky and buy one that lacks a security chip you can just snip one thick leg on your 10NES in your console so just get whatever pops up at the price you want to pay.
>>3090116
60 to 72 pins, you can get them on AliExpress.
Can we get a TurboGrafx 16/CD thread going? What are your favorite games for this system?
>>3089739
I just got my PC Engine back from a guy after having a recap job done and the cd section doesn't work now. He said that maybe it got busted in transit but I'm not sure. He did give me a fully refund. It worked before I sent it so I don't know what to believe. Anybody know of good repair people?
As for op's question my favorite games are the only ones I have:
Blazing Lazers
The Legendary Axe
Ys Book 1&2
Lords of Thunder
Macross 2036
Air Zonk is pretty fun.
I just recently discovered Kaze Kiri by Naxat Soft. Somewhat impressive animations and gameplay by TG standards.
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAART!
why were 90's Sega arcade racers so amazing?
Daytona USA, Virtua Racing, Indy 500, Scud Race/Sega Super GT, WaveRunner, etc.
>you will never play Daytona USA or Scud Race with 7 other people on an 8 machine liked setup
why live?
also Sega Rally there's so many good ones
What's the best/your favorite pre-1985 game?
>>3093686
Intellivision D&D games
>>3093686
A few text games - This one in particular.
Probably Wizardry
Draak is back. His own brothers, the disciples of Kaliba, the ones who banished him, will they know how to quench his thirst for power and revenge?
Ah, the pre-Diablo II game that was popular while people waited. It had remarkable random dungeon generator and sometimes you'd miss some interesting quests and unique items making it easier to replay again with a new class.
Relatively fun multiplayer masher.
Also, the game had this song theme.

>>3093324
Yes?
Also, supposing this is a Darkstone thread, how is it the Ps1 port?
>>3093379
I'm not the OP, but I played only the PC version myself. Those who played the ps1 port said that it was a better port than Diablo. There is definitely some nostalgia goggles involved, but the game was one of the more popular dungeon hacking games on the console.
I've been wanting to play through this game again but I don't want to spend time on this game and have the game data randomly erased. I was wondering if there was any way to prevent the saved data glitch or if there's any way to indicate which copies of the game have the glitch and which don't.
>>3093134
They all glitch when you beat career mode with a caw. Just don't do that and you're golden.
Later on carts have the error fixed
Look for ones with a -1 on them
The working one I have has the numbers
NUS-006 (EUR)
NUS NW4P-EUR-1
I worked in an indie game store when this game came out and the amount of annoyances that came from it and the boss saying "Dont take returns on it" nearly made me walk out, most people on the street dont want to send the game back to the manufacturer
>>3094046
I have NUS-006 (EUR), hmmmm I'll try it out in a bit
IT'S LETTER TIME IT'S LETTER TIME
>Hi Video & Arcade! This is my favorite show of all time, I am a really big fan! My favorite games are Mario 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time.
>Hey Johnny! Thanks for sending us that letter! Just for that, we are going to send you a copy of Superman 64 and a Video & Arcade travel mug.
Every fucking time

>mfw every toy run the contestant always grabs the least valuable items
anyone have all the episodes?
I want to try both of these games but I dont know which one of these 2 i should play first. I have never played a dragonquest game before but I hear these 2 are the best in terms of retro dq
Play them in numerical order, you filthy casual.
>>3090960
This. If you don't play in chronological order you need to pee out of my fucking diarrhea ass.
>>3090925
You should never play 3 before 1. So if you're dead set on one of those two then it has to be 5.
Also, remakes are for girls so you'd best be playing the original version, m8.
It should go without saying but non-arcade releases are allowed.
Really love their old art and characters.
>>3089880
Same, I also like a lot of their more obscure games, for example toypop.
Klonoa a best
EU cover was different iirc tho.
It came with a demo of Point Blank too. Loved that.
What's the most friendly game to help you learn japanese ?
Look for games with Furigana above the kanji
i think zeldas all use furigana
lol give up
Draque.
In your opinion, who won the Link Bowl, /vr/?
Probably Zelda because of the ending of Zelda 2: Link's adventure.
Or the town girl who heals you in the same game (if you consider lelsexreferencesftw real)
