Did anyone else play this and love it?
This is one game I'd really love to see made in 2015. What games would you guys want to see revamped today?
>>2794802
I played it and never understood why people loved it so much.
>What games would you guys want to see revamped today?
For the love of fucking god none of them. Let the modern video game industry fuck up its own stupid ideas instead of dredging up good things from the past to ruin.
>>2794807
I like it a lot aesthetically / superficially. And because it's so different with fucking stupid dialogue. Do you think the video game industry with never produce nuggets ever again with how bad it's gotten?
>>2794802
I played the demo from a pc gamer cover cd. It's not too bad. I could probably scan the review from (uk) pc gamer. I remember I liked the human bit more, but it was tough at the time, very bloody and the demo was rather short.
What's your favorite SNES game to play along with a friend?
Mine would probably have to be Mario Kart (battle mode) if I really stop and think about how many times I've returned to that same game without it getting old.
Some runner-ups are: NBA Jam, DKC, Sunset Riders and Turtles in Time.
Games can be versus or coop... doesn't matter. Just good games to play along with someone else.
Bomberman all the way, Top Gear is very competitive too
>>2794536
SMK battle mode or racing
Bust-a-Move (Puzzle Bobble)
Super Bomberman
SF2 any version (not Alpha 2, SNES version is horrible)
TMNT Tournament Fighters
Fatal Fury 2
MK/MK2
Killer Instinct
Uniracers
>that framerate boost when you change video settings to widescreen/cinema
Anything to make it better.
Let's talk Perfect Dark. I'm on my first playthrough ever, stuck in Chicago on Secret Agent because I suck at shooting, stealth, or both (depending on the attempt). Slowly learning though. I feel like Retro builds their games around a lot of repeat attempts, which depending on your prerogative or taste for the game can either make or break it I think. This one still has me hooked though, I just want to get good at moving...

Ma nigga. You make me wanna play through Perfect Dark and Goldeneye again. I've played FPSs for like a decade and I started on the N64 but I'll be damned if I don't still have the time of my life playing those games. Still not even easy goings on perfect/00 agent either
>>2794430
>I feel like Retro builds their games around a lot of repeat attempts
Do you mean Rare?
It's pretty common for retro (small r) games to be based around getting better through repeated attempts. Particularly for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, since their roots lie in Virtua Cop, an arcade game, and not shooters like Doom.
>>2794442
>retro
Oh yeah, my bad. Retro is way more about LOOK AT THESE FUCKING ENVIRONMENTS (which did suit Metroid well I'll admit) but that's neither here nor there, this is /vr/.
Blast Corps is similar as well. I want to thank personally whoever made that game, it's easily in my top 5 on the N64 even if the race maps (a tribute to RC Pro-Am maybe?) make me mad.
Like seriously? I was supposed to somehow find out that I'm supposed to head east of the destroyed castle and search in this pile of poison for the Mirror of Ra? Enix what
Talk about parts in games that are/were (near) impossible without guides
Simon's Quest has a lot of these, I think they were explained in the FC version or the manual though.
Star Tropics has the famous submarine where you need to dip a sheet of paper that came with the game in water to reveal it.
>>2794190
to reveal the code to activate it I mean
That's the only one I know of where you actually can't progress the game without a guide if you don't have the physical piece of paper that came with the game
>>2794187
You know how the game outright tells you to talk to NPCs for info? There's a reason for that. There's a guy who tells you that you need to go to that exact spot for the mirror.
Fucking underages these days, I tell ya.
I just started playing Baldur's GateEnhanced Editionfor the first time. I played the original for about half an hour once when I was around 14 but gave up since it was to hard but man am I glad I gave it a second chance. This game is great. BG Thread.
I'm in the same boat. Made a half-orc fighter. Just going to run train for as long as I can. Probably won't use more that 4 party members max
>>2794263
No reason to not fill out your party.
Just get two archers or something as filler, they'll pull their weight.
>>2794767
Oh, shut your gob.
I bought all of these games on GOG last year (even IX) without ever really digging into them, but with a long break on the horizon, I feel like it's time for me to really get into this series. But first, a few questions:
Do I need to play all of them in order?
Do these games heavily favor certain builds?
Are VIII and IX that bad?
So general Ultima thread, I guess.
>>2793826
One and two are dodgy, kind of rpg shitposting. If you're into the history then give them a go. If you're just playing for fun no need.
Ultima III is where the series starts to buy into itself. It was my first crpg, it's a good game and I love it.
But the LORE of the franchise starts with IV so if you start there no points against you.
Don't play the vanilla IBM versions from gog. Get at least the graphic and music patches.
http://www.pixsoriginadventures.co.uk/category/ultima-patcher/
I would also recommend the fan remakes for the games that have them: xu4 for 4, nuvie for 6, exult for 7 and SI and Pentagram for 8
>>2794093
1 is a bit weird but it's short and simple so you don't need to invest much to complete it. Akalabeth is something you should mainly check out for the history
2 could have been cool but it really plays terribly...

>8 was rushed out and is only a shadow of what it was supposed to be. The gameplay is particularly grueling and you don't miss much by skipping out.
Patches to make 8 playable do exist, and 8 has a pretty unique storyline. If you don't mind that the Ultima series become much less of an RPG by the 7th game and deviate more into adventure game territory, you can probably somehow stomach the crap elements of VIII; some events are pretty epic.
With all the take about translations as of late, I think we should take the time and highlight those exclusives that we can actually enjoy.
Like this Goemon game. It's a straight platformer, no overworld map, so no Japanese needed. It's pretty pretty for a GBC game and fun. I can recommend it.
I think a good deal of people here are, have learned or are learning Japanese.
Go Go Ackman 1, 2 and 3 on Super Famicom
Loopop Cube: Lup*Salad is a really good block pushing puzzle game. Sometimes I end up thinking about puzzles a lot while not playing and doing other stuff during the day. If you are already used to the genre, skip the first difficulty, it's a real snoozer.
Oh, and I guess this thread is for Japan exclusives you can enjoy without reading rather than fantranslated ones?
To anyone new to Dragon Quest let me help you out on where you should start.
I'd recommend playing in order but if you want to play the best of the best start with 5 or 8
I - SNES
II - SNES
III - SNES or GBC (SNES is better overall, GBC has a couple more extras.)
IV - DS or Mobile (Mobile version has Party Chat restored, is otherwise identical to DS version.)
V - DS or PS2 (DS has an additional waifu to marry, PS2 has better graphics.)
VI - DS
VII - PS1 or 3DS
VIII - PS2 or wait for 3DS (Mobile version is gutted)
IX - DS
X - lol never ever...

3 snes by far. The only thing you're missing on the gbc is an extra endgame dungeon that takes too much grinding to access anyway.
Don't know why anyone would play the gbc version outside of nostalgia. I
>>2793279
Mobile would almost be the best version of 1-3 if it wasn't for that shitty localization restoring the DW talk.
Also worth noting that if you don't have a DS and don't want to emulate V/VI mobile are all the same quality as IV.
What's wrong with the PS1 for 4?
Why was Earthworm Jim 3D so bad?
Because the charm of the original didn't transfer to the still new 3d world. Everything was kind of ugly
>>2793159
The charm of EJ didn't even transfer over to EJ2.
I feel it was generally an okay game... except for the boss battles. If you ever want to see the definition of "artificial difficulty" encapsulated, look no further than EWJ3's pork boarding.
how do i write commodore 64 music
multisamples c64 libraries or a vst version
use with a daw like fl studio or cubase
write loops in basic and then pick up the unshielded rf with a radio
the opensource software Linux MultiMedia Studio (also on windows os) have SiD music chip plugin by default installation
So
was he faking it?
>>2792256
According to the Mega CD manual, he was.
why do people act like it was an unfair fight, he's got a fucking crossbow
>>2792264
so?
What went wrong?
>>2791257
Some retard was left unsupervised and ended making a shit thread on /vr/.
My fucking dream game would be SimCity 4 with SimCity 3000 advisors instead of those fucking soulless The Sims shit shoved in.
Compare this:
To this shit.
Is there any SC4 mod to use those old 2D animated SC3K advisors?
I prefer to keep playing SC3K to have to deal with The Sims shitting all over SC4.
Does anyone know what happened with the translations? I can only find discussions about the translation thread being locked. This game seriously looked good and all news about the game and the translation just seemed to die out.
The game was developed by love-de-lic, also known for UFO: Day in the Life, and L.o.L: Lack of Love. Love-de-lic was comprised of former Square employees.
HG101 did a write up about their games.
http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/lovedelic/lovedelic.htm
The people working on it gave up and the project was obscure enough that nobody thought to preserve what little had been done.
You'll have to wait another decade, minimum, before PS1 has fully become the new SNES for crazy fan translation groups and people start digging for weird games to hack.
>>2791293
I'm pretty sure the entire script has been translated and is available. I was expecting a release this year it sucks if it's been abandoned.
I read a post from someone who knows the people working on it about 3 or 4 months ago on gaf, he said it's still being actively worked on and is pretty close to completion.
Just gotta be patient.
Daily reminder that FF1 sucks - no matter the version - and that saying "it's a classic" doesn't mean shit. You are a shit person misleading people if you recommend this trash.
>Play Final Fantasy on the NES
>"Oh, this sucks"
>Read about the remakes
>Play the FF1 remake on GBA

What a great thread>>>/trash/
I like the Gameboy games
Which is the one where the world flooded? Legend 3? Yeah man, that's the good stuff
Well, what can I say, OP? In some ways I agree with you. Anyone who recommends Final Fantasy I on its own merit is indeed fooling themselves. It's like the first Legend of Zelda; you should play it all the way through at least once for historical reasons, and at the end if it didn't do a thing for you don't ever touch it again.
One thing that did rub me wrong a bit is that you act like it never _was_ any good- this is largely incorrect and you should do some research into just what your other options were back then to see what people of the time ever saw...

>Want to play Deus Ex
>Remember that it's fucking hideous
Why must such a good game be so ugly? And I don't mean graphically (although that is also true) I mean art direction wise. The game is actively repulsive to look at, and so many things in the game look stupid
"Good games with shit tier asethetics" thread I guess.
>>2790456
Compared to what? The art direction is pretty standard. I'm not sure what makes it so terrible for you.
>>2790463
The guns are ugly, the clothes look ridiculous, the only saving grace environmental wise is the section in hell's kitchen (felt really 1970's. Reminds me of taxi driver) besides that everything just looks boring.
It's gorgeous compared toMorrowind
