I was thinking over how the dialogue from Metal Gear Solid is a lot more memorable than the later games. Jeremy Blaustein worked on the localization of the game. From what I've heard, his dialogue is not 100% pure translations of the Japanese. Has anyone actually gone and compared the dialogue from the original Japanese game to what ended up in the English version of the game?
Especially curious about the most famous lines, like the one above.
Pretty much, although I recall him saying in an interview that he regretted the can love bloom in the battlefield line. He also took some unnecessary liberties, like giving Mei Ling an accent when she's supposed to have grown up in America.

The script is basically the same, and not so reminiscent of the Japanese save a few lines which they deemed not appropriate in the original, and the game blows.

That shit was shareware since 1999. Pretty cool rpg where you play as a party of orcs. Has a cool spellcasting system. Did anyone here play this? I only played the demo back in the day.
When you had to create a party of 8 complex characters in an unfamiliar ruleset, my eyes kinda glazed over and I didn't want to use the pre-set party.

Trying to find an old PC game.
Here's what I remember. Some of these may be off.
You were some surfer with green hair that washed up on a spooky island.
It was a first person adventure game.
The very first section of the game had skulls buried in the sand.
I know this isn't much to go on but I can't remember anything else and I've looked everywhere.
I have no clue what game that was, but it sounds pretty awesome though

No. My mind has repressed the memories of that trauma. There were so few good games for it and the controller was ass.
It performs a memory wipe after each play session, individual recollection would be impossible
Can't I've ever owned an Intellivision. But I have played the Intellivision Lives Collection for the PlayStation 2. (Yes I mentioned a 6th generation console. But I have a very good reason for it.)

Final Fantasy IV got a sequel, 3-D remake, and 2-D remake. Final Fantasies V and VI got this. Why is that?
Because Final Fantasy IV is one of the most loved entries, especially in Japan.

What is the year that it is safe to buy used PC games? I'm worried about steam or keys bullshit. What year did the beginning of the end happen?

It is highly unlikely you'll run into a key-related problem by now. Keys were mostly used to keep you from playing pirated copies on multiplayer servers. 99.9% of those were probably Gamespy servers, and that service has long since died. You're much more likely going to run into issues with old, incompatible EXEs or fucked up old DRM. Buy the physical media for collections' sake, but you're probably better off pirating for ease-of-use alone.

Because Level 1 is the first level the player ever sees so composers must make good music so player could be wondered what's next in the game because of music too?

Trip World is a perfect example. It's a neat game, but it's not excellent. Pic related is the first thing you see in-game, but it's not filled with consistently top-tier pixel art. Same with the music.
I know we tend to concentrate on more obscure gems.
But what are your memories over good old fucking Super Mario Bros.

I was like 3 years old when I first saw my parents play SMB on their NES. My dad was good at doing the turtle walk for extra lives.
