OP here, I might just not be able to play games by Bullfrog. I have yet to figure out how to get Syndicate to go from the item/mission/stats screen to the actual game as well. Dungeon Keeper as well. The lack of manuals probably was the cause, or my own stupidity. Syndicate Wars was pretty neat however.

It's a fun game, I only recently figured it out, like last year. Haven't played it since though. Have owned it forever, you just are supposed to make things as favorable as possible for your people, and help them flourish as much as you can.

I had both this and Populous 2 on the Atari ST as a kid. As much as I enjoyed the first game, 2 was so much better with the heavily expanded magic and champion systems.

nah, it was too hard. we'd just play TMNT Arcade or the Manhattan one on the NES instead.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, most handheld emulators are horribly inaccurate junk. Stick to emulation on a real PC, and play actual portable games when you're out and about.

Why were there only 3 white blocks in the whole game? And 2 were in the same level! Unless I am forgetting some, that is. And what about Kuribo's Shoe? Confined to a single level. This game is great. but has so much unrealized potential. Why no Hammer Bros suit before World 6? Why only one World with a canoe? Why make coin-ships and anchors so hard to find? NES games are made from a background layer and a sprite layer.
Before rendering the scene, paint the sprites as a 2D plane in 3D space and draw the background layer as a 3D voxel-like map where colors give the depth information.

Obviously there's guesswork involved but cool nonetheless. Will never be perfect though
