Has anyone ever failed this hard before or since?
only scots can fail so hard.
although in all seriousness that incident is fairly typical of scotland, particularly the blaming of the english for the failures of the scottish, the bitterness and the scapegoating and judicial murder of innocents to appease the scottish public
Why did Jim Jones order the mass suicide? Did he finally snap, or did he realize that many more reporters would come to visit Jonestown and that eventually he would be arrested?

Trotsky's fanboys like to present him as a benevolent figure opposite Stalin. To me he's just another ruthless communist. How much truth is there to that?
Stalin was a ruthless opportunist, Trotsky was a ruthless communist.
But I don't think Trotsky has a lot of fanboys. Most communists regret that he did not seize the power when he could, but just because he was the only one with a real chance, and they would recognize that he was not as bad but not quite good.
And trotskyists do not see ruthlessness as a fault, and most would denounce benevolence as an idealist concept that is not appropriate for revolutionaries.
TELL ME ABOUT ALEXANDER THE GREAT.
WHY DOES HE STAND IN MY LIGHT?
What are some of history's most epic moments ?
Post them if you have them.
What is the future of religion?
When did Slovakians become a people? What is their identity based on? What is Slovakian nationalism?
I ask because historically I don't see anything to draw upon. They don't seem to have been a people up until quite recently, and I fail to see what distinguishes them from say, Poles, Belorussians, Czechs, or Ukrainians. Why do they even exist?
Ethno-genesis general too I guess, since I can't imagine there are many Slovaks interested in telling me.
So which cultures aren't "memes"? What makes those genuine and the others a "meme"?
>Who is your vote for most unlikeable person in history?
I vote Pol Pot, the guys policies seemed to have no good will in them, his personal life is shrouded in alot of mystery so you dont really get a feel for him as a person. I would vote Stalin a close second.
Why is the pattern with with Dharmic religions so overtly contrary to middle eastern Abrahamic religions? Dharmic religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, and more recently, Sikhism) have never seen any sort of rapid expansionism similar to that of which Abrahamic religions used to spread their religion. Sure, all religions, if not most have had their fair share of nut cases applying religion to further their own political interests, but in comparison to Abrahamic religions, there's no correlation between the two in terms of rapid expansionism, and a surge in sudden conversion among the population.
Best and worst factions to play as?
Best: Spain. OP cavalry and spearmen. Once you have southern Iberia and north eastern Africa, your money is limitless.
Worst: Egypt or Byzantines because EVERY FUCKER declares war on you when you're just peacefully trying to build an economy.
And mods, this game is related to history.
The best is objectively Venice. You start near the orthodox heretics, so you can conquer, plunder and destroy without having to fear the Pope in your first turns. Once you have Greece and the balkans you get a lot of cash too. Also, being in the middle of the map, you get to interact (i.e. fight) with all sorts of factions.
Which is the philosophy for living the objective best life?
Was the Treaty of Versailles too lax?
I've heard a lot about it being one of the main reasons why the Germans rose again against the world because it was too harsh
But if it was too harsh how was German able to create in 20-25 years enough of a Industrial and economic base that they can wage war against the world (and lose) again?
It was harsh, too harsh for them to do and harsh enough to royally piss them off. It wasn't too lax, it just wasn't enforced.
Hitler has occupied the Rhineland, oh well whats the worst that could happen.
Are we capable of civilized interaction without laws and governments or is freedom the price to pay for security from each other?
Every anthropological evidence points out to this : Humans, by nature, are dirty animals who would love to bash each other's heads for any particular reason of survival. The only way to civilize people is to impose order on them.
