Can somebody explain to me how atheism is logical?...
I just don't understand how something can come from nothing...isn't that against the laws of physics?
How does 0+0=1?
I don't understand the logic
> I just don't understand how something can come from nothing.
Atheism never claimed that.
>>937580
Nigga I'm a recovered former atheist and that shit wouldn't have won me over if I were high and drunk.
The most common form of atheism is a result of spiritual aspergers, an inability to handle the abstract and intangible leading to positivist delusions.
>>937580
What's with the shitposting today? It's usually not this bad.
So what exactly were commissars in russia during WW2? were they basically just kind of like the SS? Some paramilitary group separate from the actual military that was folded into watch over divisions or whatever and make sure they were bing good communist?
I dont get what purpose they functioned

Basically MP's taken to the most extreme conclusion.

Without being edgy, we all know for sure that the beliefs Christians hold regarding Jesus are 100% false.
So is this the most likely explanation of the actual, historical story of Jesus?
>Maria either cheats on Josef or is raped by someone other than Josef and becomes pregnant
>She makes up a false story in order to deceive Josef
>Josef, for whatever reason, goes along with it
>Jesus is born and his parents convince him he's the son of God
>he believes it and proclaims it, thus angering the Jews
>the Jews have him killed through the Romans
>we all know for sure that the beliefs Christians hold regarding Jesus are 100% false.
we all know for sure this thread will end in shitposting by both theists and atheists
>>936218
Perhaps true, but the fact that Jesus is not the son of an imnopotent deity is a fact, whether religious people like it or not. Their shitposting should not get in the way of historical discussion - I'm genuinely interested in historical Jesus.

Why do people like the Byzantine Empire so much?
>>934938
because it was fucking cool.
Also it was Roman.
because i can identify with Justinian I
Because the remove kebab meme. Muh Rome, muh true original christianity also. Easy to see how it became a rallying point of traditionalist wankers.
I'm kind of stumped by it myself though, Byzantium can't even show that much in the way of conquest or anything for itself, spent its existence being constantly wreaked by rebellions, turks, crusaders and various slavs
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

Why did the Germans love Hitler so much?
Because he was making Germany great again.
Because he was the German Donald Trump

Because of qt propaganda like pic related
Why should i believe in the Christian God?I really want to since he seems like the most reasonable but even then he is still full of logical fallacies and gaps. And no Im not a atheist. Also i just got banned from one of the christian boards on the other chan because nobody was able to convince me to believe in their God.

God is an idea, not a metaphysical being. He's still the best thing we've got.
Question for Catholics: if I descrate the eucharist what is actually happening? Say if I burn a consecrated host am I literally burning a part of Jesus? Does Jesus feel it?
You're guilty of the body and blood of Christ
You may as well have partaken in the Crucifixion
Catholics are not Christians.
Topic 1): Post your fav Christian Philosopher. Heathens are welcome to simply post their fav theist philosopher if so inclined.
Topic 2): In the ranking of Christian philosophers who comes in at number #1 Thomas Aquinas (Thomism ) or Kierkegaard (father of existentialism)
>>926677
This could actually be a good thread on Christianity
>>926718
I remember someone yesterday saying this place was a christian hugbox despite the fact that you can't make a thread about Christianity without people shitposting in them instead of ignoring them

I'm not sure if you guys think you're helping your cause instead of creating more division.
Why do so many people claim that Americans don't have culture? What constitutes a culture? Is it possible to say that Americans historically possessed a culture (like in the 1830s when de Tocqueville visited the country, or the 1950s) that they have since lost? Is baseball a cultural activity? Is the American dream culture or ideology? Is there a difference?
I hope this makes sense but I wanted to discuss this further since it seems pretty clear to me that America has a culture, or at least it once did.

It's because they're a mongrel nation, bastards of several cultures.
Only speaking the truth, mon ami
>>924111
>It's because they're a mongrel nation, bastards of several cultures.
That's nearly every nation though, including the Japanese and British. That's not a very valid argument for why you think the US has no culture.
>>924133
Yes, but they're old countries, while America is a relatively new one.
I'm sure they'll develop one, but so far they don't have it

>Making Sense of Tantric Buddhism
does it?
>>924108
Yuh, it sure does, at least that's what folks tell me and the reviews are good.
Tantra Illuminated may be a slightly better generalist starter, but it's more focused just laying groundwork where the other assumes interested in Vajrayana particularly.

/his/, why is alt-history so bad? Is it the autistic authors, the shitty education, or the concept of the "art" itself?
>>911078
Because the people who come up with alt history usually have a really lose concept of history or how nations work, so their scenarios usually fall apart with just a little logic applied.
90% of alt history is DUDE WHAT IF LMAO
>>911078
authors set out trying to reach a goal instead of creating the scenario and letting it play out naturally. Like in that shitty "Man in the High Castle" alternate history where the guy had the axis win and continue holding on to it's conquered territories and create Atlantropa without ever analyzing the ramifications. Especially with Atlantropa, the ecological and environmental disaster would be unlike ever seen on earth, seeing that the complete evaporation of an entire sea would take place over centuries. For starters, the entirety of all the mediterrainean countries and North Africa and the levant would be added to the Sahara desert, killing hundreds of millions. The economic and agricultural effects would be equally horrifying.
Essence/quality exists objectively
Take a triangle and square of the same size, surface area, etc. Quantitatively, they are identical, but that would be absurd to say. A square is not a triangle. Ergo, they must be differentiated, qualified, according to their essentiality, differentiated according to what they ARE as opposed to their dimensions.
Nihilists, atheistcucks, positivists, etc. BTFO
dude traingle dont mean anything lmaoo
>>939030
They are differentiated by position, even if they were created at the same instant.
>>939052
No, they're differentiated by what they are. I don't know what you mean by position.
>/his/tory professor asks the class if anyone knows what pax romana means

>give very brief summary
>"excellent! very good!"

>turns head and begins to say something
>i thought he was still talking directly to me and that he was waiting for a response

>happened this morning and i can't stop thinking about it

anyone else have any funny stories involving /his/?
>>903279
this is a funny story imo.
but just to make it clear:
pax romana was the "do ut des" way of life of the romans to live a good life like being succesfull, r-right guys?
>>903315
Pax romana was the colonialism technique used by the Romans. They came, subdued the country, left a governor to collect taxes but let the country keep its laws and cultural identity as long as they didn't fuck with Roman rule.
>>903315
Actually, it's just a roman agricultural method.
