Had Operation Downfall proceeded, what do you think the results would have been? This is assuming the allies didn't have nukes. The landing invasion would have made Omaha Beach look like a cakewalk. You would have the Soviets too, and the Japanese had their entire population (around 35 million) ready to die for the emperor. It would be complete bloodshed for sure. But I wonder if it would push the Americans to withdraw if it got too bloody? I remember them being pretty drained by '45, and support for the war was wavering. Would have made for some epic movies/video games.
I'd imagine a "race to Berlin" -esque scenario between the Americans and the Soviets.

Everyone knows MLK, and I believe his side of the Civil Rights movement was larger and easier for Blacks, particularly the Southern poor churchgoing crowd, to identify with.
Malcolm X also played a huge part. I don't think it's fair to say he was less effective, rather his ideologies were harder to accept since they were more radical. If we see a duo like this rise today, I think things would be reversed and more people would accept Mr X's stance.

He wasn't very valueable. I don't really know anyoen who has argued that property and society at large AREN'T social constructs ("spooks"), so it is just stating the obvious. I guess he didn't comprehend the social contract though.
His philosophy was 'valuable' in the sense that it exposes the flaws of morality and the is-ought gap - In other words, someone can just reject the social contract and do whatever he wants, and there is nothing you can do to convince him otherwise.

Question, /his/. Is there the board for people with an interest in numismatics? Looking over the list of boards, none really fits but this strikes me as the closest thing, since an interest in history is pretty much mandatory for numismatics. Every classic coin and currency bill has some kind of history behind it and relates in some way to American history.
If not, please point me in the right direction.
