Can we have a thread on evolutionary psychology? It seems almost all social sciences operate from the perspective that humans are a 'blank slate', that all behaviour is learned. Evolutionary psychology is a hard science approach to psychology that posits otherwise.

You can find a behaviour, make a hypothesis based from that behaviour, and if it can't be disproved through fossil/ DNA analysis, it becomes a theory.

The problem is that the career I chose does not exist. I chose anthropology and might end up flipping burgers. I don't even know where to apply with this outside of academia since there are no marketable skills involved in my field.

I was taking a shit today, and my mind drifted off and I started to think about why humanity took so long to develop some sort of civlization, with laws and architecture, along with some sort of centralized authority governing its borders. Do you think that maybe the reason so much mythology around the world has some sort of legitimacy to it? If you think about it, there's so many connections with ancient mythology. People who could have never possibly come into contact with each other could string out more or less similar beliefs, with similar architecture. It's interesting...

Reagan didn't care much about what was happening in the ghetto and he created a foreign policy based off drug trafficking groups.
It gives too much credit to him or his advisors to suggest that their Latin American adventures were tied into a plot to hurt black Americans.
They just didn't see the connection and didn't care to look until it was too late.

At the time of independence, Mexico stretched from a border with Gran Colombia in the south, to what is now the US state of Oregon. If the Mexican-American war had never happened, and Mexico had retained it's northern territories which happened to have a massive amount of natural resources hidden beneath the surface, could Mexico had become a rival of the United States?
