Can we have a thread on evolutionary psychology? It seems almost all social sciences operate from the perspective that humans are a 'blank slate', that all behaviour is learned. Evolutionary psychology is a hard science approach to psychology that posits otherwise.

No.
>Evolutionary psychology is a hard science approach to psychology that posits otherwise.
>Hard science;
Nigga, it's based on literally unprovable speculations.
>>1373605
How are they unDISprovable?
You can find a behaviour, make a hypothesis based from that behaviour, and if it can't be disproved through fossil/ DNA analysis, it becomes a theory.

The problem is that the career I chose does not exist. I chose anthropology and might end up flipping burgers. I don't even know where to apply with this outside of academia since there are no marketable skills involved in my field.

So, why do you hate him /his/?
Mostly because of the rampant murdering and human rights abuse.

I was taking a shit today, and my mind drifted off and I started to think about why humanity took so long to develop some sort of civlization, with laws and architecture, along with some sort of centralized authority governing its borders. Do you think that maybe the reason so much mythology around the world has some sort of legitimacy to it? If you think about it, there's so many connections with ancient mythology. People who could have never possibly come into contact with each other could string out more or less similar beliefs, with similar architecture. It's interesting...

No. It's because civilization requires agriculture, which requires hunting and gathering to be the worse option, which requires a large enough population, which requires a lot of time.

Did the Reagan Administration cyhper drugs in the black ghettos to wipe out the black population, or is this a conspiracy on the same level as Bush doing 9/11 and the Roswell sightings?
Reagan didn't care much about what was happening in the ghetto and he created a foreign policy based off drug trafficking groups.
It gives too much credit to him or his advisors to suggest that their Latin American adventures were tied into a plot to hurt black Americans.
They just didn't see the connection and didn't care to look until it was too late.

Okay, /his/, what does this fucker specifically mean when he talks about techne and poiesis? What are both specifically and how are they connected?
>>1372415
Anyone?
Techne is artisanship, poiesis is simply work.
A person who has techne can build a building, AND knows why it doesn't fall apart.
A person who simply has poiesis simply knows how to build a building with no knowledge of why it works.

At the time of independence, Mexico stretched from a border with Gran Colombia in the south, to what is now the US state of Oregon. If the Mexican-American war had never happened, and Mexico had retained it's northern territories which happened to have a massive amount of natural resources hidden beneath the surface, could Mexico had become a rival of the United States? Would Mexico be a world power, or would it still be backwards and poor?
