So this place is strange and interesting in many ways, Politically, its been very hostile. linguistically, they are some of the most isolated people on earth, despite not being that at all in real life. Culturally, its all fucked and blended from Russia, Persia, Turkey and god knows what else and Historically, well... that's what I hope we can talk about today.
So what happened here. Who are these mountain people and how did they say so separate from the local giants that tend to pass through there?
Try not to say "Muh Mountains"

I know, but I would like to hear something more interesting.
Like Grand battles or political maneuvers.
Muh Mountains may be an accurate answer, but it sure as hell isn't satisfying

What does /his/ think about the possibility of reincarnation? Is there any evidence for it? Or is it all just eastern hogwash?

Do you believe it? Why/why not?

It's been proven that there's no life after death as there is no scientific proof.

Next problem please.

That doesn't disprove it though, that just also doesn't prove their is life after death.

I don't believe it because I'm a Roman Catholic. At least we have miracles such as Lanciano or Turin or Sokółka.

I'm seriously fascinated by Christology and the development of it over the first few centuries of the Church. And while I'm not a Christian myself, I can understand and agree with the all of the decisions made by the Ecumenical Councils regarding Christ's nature - except for monothelitism.

The official Church position is that Christ has two wills - one human and one divine - but I find that hard to reconcile with him being only One person. Is this not just crypto-Nestorianism? If Christ is human and divine united, then he'd only have a single will - not both just in case not having two would somehow "reduce his humanity."

What do /his/torians think?

Saying, "He has two wills," is really to say that the different aspects of his purpose are connected to two different natures, both of which He possesses. One nature, the divine, is attached to the salvation aspect of His purpose. He is the manifestation of the Divine Logos, meant to free us from having to face justice for our own actions. The other nature, the human, is attached to the ministry aspect of His purpose. He took on the trappings of Creation as whole man (while being whole God), in order to witness to us in a way that put example and action to what were just mere words of revelation from prophets before. He was a kid, raised by a mom and a dad in His dad's trade. He lived like the rest of us, made friends like the rest of us. He went through everything the rest of us went through. And then, He went through what the rest of us wouldn't have to go through, because He did it. His human nature is shown when He weeps upon entry to Jerusalem when people lay palm leaves in His path, and when He asks the Father to take the task of crucifixion from Him. He felt a stab in the back upon the betrayal of Judas, and He felt every lash, and was in pain every second when He was on the cross.

The theological terms are easy to get caught up with, but they are just attached to His purpose. His purpose for being here; what He did and who He is, should not be separated from the discussion. Being whole God, Jesus knows you, knew you even then. Being whole man, Jesus felt everything a man would when dying in such a way. He died in your place, and ascended to the place He is preparing for you.

Because like all religions its a closed cannon, because each time God speaks its apparently for the last time and that no additions are ever necessary.

God has a funny habbit of only talking to one prophet at a time and then being silent until another one comes along.

If that new prophet fails to gain traction then it is clearly because they are a mad heretic and God wanted them gone.

>>If that new prophet fails to gain traction then it is clearly because they are a mad heretic and God wanted them gone.

That's how Christian handle it.

Muslims being more smart about it say those were in fact valid prophets, but unfortunately the people the disgusting sinners that they are wrapped and sullied the TRUTH being spoken.

The Koran is the TRUEST TRUTH by the way, if you didn't know. And they have the historical data to PROVE it as well.

How did it arise in modern Sicily?

Was it basically a bunch of thugs shaking down establishments and private persons, or something more akin to a semi-feudal structure with limited legitimacy?

How much was/is it embedded in Italian history and political culture?

Could it be seen as the response of a traditional society to modernity and industrialization, thus stressing values such as family relations and loyalty?

How did such a structure spread to other countries, particularly in the United States and what facilitated it?

>>
Depends what you mean by "modern".

I mean after WW2 they arose because when America took Italy they let everyone out of prison and appointed mafiosi to government roles because they claimed to be anti-fascist resistance leaders without also being socialists.
>>
>>492371
Basically allies used them against Italy and Germany, strengthening them when they were on their way to extinction. After the war everything was fucked and mafia filled in the void naturally all the way to the top.

>How much was/is it embedded in Italian history and political culture?
Not that much outside of Sicily today, after the nineties and the murders of Falcone and Borsellino (the two most prominent anti-mafia magistrates) opposition to Cosa Nostra has become a matter of national conscience
The most powerful Italian mafia today is the 'ndragheta, which acts in the shadows and has in its pocket lots of politicians

Why do so many people live along the tectonic fault lines around the Pacific, don't they see it coming?

How some so many people live in tornado alley, aren't they seeing it coming?

Why do people still live in the south where hurricanes and flooding strikes every year? Can they see it at all?

Is there any extent to which Nietzsche did not destroy non-theistic morality?

The Christians get a pass because their definition of right and wrong comes from an absolute moral arbiter. If you believe that such an arbiter does not exist, however, what becomes of morality? Aren't we ultimately only left with Thrasymachus' rule of the stronger?

I thought he only attacked Christianity? At least I know that's all he "attacked" in the gay science.
>>
>>491969
he didn't destroy it
he merely explained it.

the rich kings told you not obeying them was bad
then some sheister came along and said that god rules above all kings and that what the kings do against the poor is evil.

he merely offeres an escape route to those wishing to escape
he didn't destroy it

Are Slavs directly descended from proto-indo-europeans?

No. They came from the proto-balto-slavs who in turn diverged from PIE.

Just like how the Celts and Italics came from Italo-Celtic which came from PIE

Stop spewing wikipedia linguistic bullshit, the only things Italic and Celtic have in common are the /*r/ mediopassive endings and the labiovelar stop split.
