Devas or Boddhisattvas?
Who's superior according to Mahayana theology?
Bodhisattvas
The celestial realm of the Devas is still a conditioned existence
Boddhisattvas are considered superior. They are beings who have reached enlightenment but who put off their Buddhahood (paranirvana) in order to assist all other life-forms in reaching enlightenment.
Devas are deities in the Heaven-realms, and are very much like the Olympian gods: they are powerful, but still flawed and unable to escape from the karmic cycle themselves.
THE DEVAS/DAEVAS ARE REPTILIAN USURPERS FROM THE EAST; THE AHURA/ASURA ARE THE "GOOD" ONES; THE ARYANS THAT FOUNDED THE INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION.
Ask a communist anything.
How's it going

Sad because non-revolutionary conditions.
Otherwise fine though.

Would Lenin have killed Luxemburg?
How do Catholics even justify their being on a board dedicated to historical matters yet continue to fervently defend the Catholic Church?
Putting their atrocities and abuses aside, let us look at it from the perspective of academia. In their persecution of various "heretics" (Cathars, Bogomils) in the Medieval period, the Church establishment destroyed all their documents and scriptures, and such was the extent that to this day, we cannot - with authority - claim to know exactly what the Cathars or Bogomils even believed in, which in turns makes it harder to...

>You're on a history board defending an institution which has a history of destroying and completely eradicating historical records and making the study of it muddier and harder.
If it was possible for me to destroy the stupidity of the WE WUZ KANGZ movement, I would do it in seconds. Some knowledge is so fantastically retarded, that it doesn't deserve being preserved.
>>1269662
All historical knowledge is valuable.
Even the WE WUZ movement is valuable in its own certain way, for it would show historians of the future the sociological conditions and trends among black Americans in the 21st century.
Just because it's factually incorrect does not mean it's not valuable in historical terms.

They're godless pagans trying to deceive other people into joining their godless church.
Plus they get to vent their frustration and murderous rage against actual Christians.

I'm genuinely curious as to how the idea of the trinity in Christianity got started. Because I've read the Bible and even looked into the history of the church, and I don't see how anyone got the idea of the trinity.
To me it seems obvious that Jesus references god as someone distinct and separate from himself, and this would fit with prophecy that concerned the messiah as a distinct entity who wasn't god. So, it just seems like this idea of the trinity comes out of fucking nowhere and is stupid. But clearly there was lots of debate over it and people...

It's really fucking obvious desu:
>Commandment clearly states that you shall have no other gods
>But we want to worship Christ and the Holy Spirit because they were holy n shit
>So let's just call God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit "God" that way it's not really polytheism it's actually monotheism :^)
>>1271935
>I'm genuinely curious as to how the idea of the trinity in Christianity got started.
The Trinity has always existed, before time itself did
>>1271935
Literally the first few lines of the Gospel of John. It is also the most authentically "Christian" gospel.
What's the /his/ consensus on the Hamilton musical?
>>1269948
They picked the wrong founding father.
Kill whitey
if you need watered down trendy garbage like this to digest history you shouldn't be here
if you're here to discuss the quality of acting, writing, or production, you also shouldn't be here as this is a history and humanities board
Why is academia still so full of Marxists?
We have an entire century of proof that his ideas don't work, and are even harmful in the large sense.
>>1265900
I have no idea.
It all comes from bullshit disciplines like X studies, political "science," literature, or the lower dregs of philosophy. There evidence doesn't really matter, only feels.
>>1265900
Marxism is an aesthetic movement of bourgeoisie values against aristocratic one, economic results don't matter
Is the existence of a fiery eternal hell justified? I believe so. We are all given a chance here to better ourselves. Don't let the worldly life deceive you. God has the best reward with him.
>>1264230
if it wasn't justified there would be no hell
>>1264335
Well, I guess that's why there is none :^)
Well that's just fantastic, OP. Thank you for sharing this with us all today.
There's this really neat board you can discuss this on, it's called /x/. Have fun!
How did prostitutes do their profession back in the day with such shitty anticonception?

Infanticide.

Did the American internment of Japanese Americans during WW2 have any justification besides paranoia?
Like was there actual credible intelligence that there were enough Japanese on the west coast to actually create enough of a threat to warrant such a flagrant disregard of basic human rights?
>>1272705
Honestly I don't think so, there was a Japan town in my hometown and in it was a Japanese temple and school. When they were detained they burned down the temple and confiscated their farms and homes then sold them.
Even though Japanese farmers introduced citrus cultivation in many parts of California and contributed to California's agriculture immensely looking at my region the deportations were an excuse for poorer whites to just take from such a thriving group.
Success breeds jealousy so to speak.
>>1272705
Japs in America were caught actually helping Japan so I'd say there was something more than paranoia.
>>1272771
>Even though Japanese farmers introduced citrus cultivation in many parts of California
This is bullshit btw and I doubt your other bit about burning down shrines.
How did the US get away with being the only one in history using the most inhumane weapon we ever built?
Who's gonna do anything about it? Japan?
>>1271994
Russia and comrade putin.

dunno but did the US or Truman, who gave the order, ever get before a judge to be punished?
I know that the US isnt accepting the international court but yeah has really no one done anything about it?
Why (barring a few exceptions) did it take so long for humans to realize that slavery is an immoral practice that should be outlawed?
It completely robs someone of their dignity and humanity... I mean come on...
>>1266449
its nice not having to work
Because they could get away with it
>>1266449
Really makes you think...
Seriously though it's because robbing someone of their dignity and humanity used to just be a way of dickwaving, especially in ancient times. Once liberalism popped up is when people started to actually care about things.
It's always bugged me. What makes Africa (and possibly middle east) lack any form of development? It's as if they are stuck in a prehistoric age.
I dont think it's because of other countries intervention, because their development wasn't stopped. It pretty much didn't even begin.
inb4: because blacks
I'm not trying to be racist, but if you think Africans are different, then what made them different.
>>1264301
Because zebras dude
Late agriculture and isolation.
>>1264301
Because Africa is basically the human homeland.
Everything you need to survive is there, the right weather, the right food, the right terrain, everything necessary for human life to develop and sustain itself is all over the place. Whereas anywhere else you have to get creative to survive.
>and possibly middle east) lack any form of development
The middle east and North Africa are far from lacking any form of development, for a long time their civilization was comparable...

Why do Roman Catholics feel the need to encase all of their supposedly "incorruptible" bodies with was?
The Orthodox don't even embalm bodies, let alone encase them with wax. For us, an incorruptible body means there is no stench, and instead of rotting, it gradually mummifies. We don't use cosmetic trickery. Pic related.
>preserving bodies at all
cool party trick though
>>1270452
Can you explain why you are antagonistic to preserving bodies as opposed to any other relic?

Speaking of preservation
Reminder that neoliberalism is a good thing.
http://www.econlib.org/library/Columns/y2010/Sumnerneoliberalism.html
>First, to understand what neoliberalism it, we need to start with the term "liberal." The best way to make sense of liberalism, in all its permutations, is to assume that liberals are people with constantly evolving policy views but relatively stable utilitarian values. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, idealistic utilitarian reformers, aka "classical liberals," believed that free-market capitalism was the best way to improve human welfare. Views shifted over the course of the 19th century, as capitalism was increasingly associated, whether accurately or not, with overly-powerful corporations and increasing inequality. After the Great Depression, many liberals saw laissez-faire not just as unfair, but also as dysfunctional. In the United States, self-described "liberals" moved toward somewhat more socialist policy views.
>The neoliberal revolution combines the free markets of classical liberalism with the income transfers of modern liberalism.
NEOLIBERALISM = FREE MARKETS PLUS SOCIAL INSURANCE
Scandinavia implemented many neoliberal reforms. Denmark has a privatised fire service, Sweden a school voucher system and both have lax labour/product regulation and no minimum wages.
