Can anyone simply explain the concepts of communism and socialism?
Socialism=common ownership of the means of production
Communism=a type of socialism with common ownership of their means of production without classes, money, or a state
They're both garbage.

Are there any instances of American soldiers knowingly and willingly engaging in suicidal attacks against an enemy?
I don't mean like "Oh boy, this is going to be a tough one, we may not make it out alive" type attacks.
I mean "I'm going to strap a bomb to myself and run at that German tank over there"
Self bump. Can't find anything about it personally, but found quite a bit about most countries during WW2 having some form of it happening.

Yeah, us americans aren't known for our rabid patriotism.
You dumb fucking retard.
>>436500
Okay sooooo what you're saying is that there are no examples of American suicide attacks?
Is there any truth to the theory about Freemasons being the Knights Templar?
this shit is bad history how old are you?
serious question

>Is there any truth to the theory about Freemasons being the Knights Templar?
Templars were devote catholics, zealots of christian faith. Freemasons were the forebears of anti-religious thought and atheism in Europe.

>Templars were devote catholics, zealots of christian faith.
What makes you think that?
You realise they were sentenced to death for heresy and various Oriental satanic shit, right? Sounds like Freemasons to me.

Tell me about the Assyrians. I've heard they were "cartoonishly evil", but all I know is that they've been around for a very long time.
Probably not too different than other conquering peoples at the time.
Well they had the first army that approaches what we'd see as modern today, complete with divisions, NCOs, and the like. They also pioneered the practice of deporting large amounts of the population in cities they had conquered to other regions and replacing those cities with yet more people they had previously conquered. As far as how evil they were, it seems they were no more and no less cruel than most Semitic states at the time. They were simply much more capable.
After Solomon dies, Israel goes into a civil war.
Israel is split between the kingdom of Israel (north) and kingdom of Judah (south).
Assyria conquers Israel.
Babylon conquers Assyria, Israel and Judah.
Persia conquers Babylon
Alexander conquers Persia
Rome
As for the culture of the Assyrians, they were degenerate pagans like the Babylonians, Egyptians and Canaanites.
Why is it that almost no philosophers or philosophy teachers end up in the right wing?
It seems like all the modern ones are communists.
Is there some secret in philosophy that refutes everything right-wing?
>post modernism and critical theory is all philosophy
it's called empathy
there's some anon on here who constantly cites The Opium of Intellectuals whenever somebody asks this, wait for him to answer it

I agree, the UK is pretty awesome.

Barons' War lead to Magna Carta.
>ended the use of slaves
UK outlawed slave trade in 1807 and slavery in 1833.

Two studies were conducted to establish that existential concerns contribute to anti-atheist sentiments. Experiment 1 found that a subtle reminder of death increased disparagement, social distancing, and distrust of atheists. Experiment 2 found that asking people to think about atheism increased the accessibility of implicit death thoughts. These studies provide the first empirical link between existential concerns and anti-atheist prejudices. (Corey L. Cook, Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, University of Washington Tacoma)
Christians confirmed to be just children scared of death.
Sample size? Methodology?
>Christians confirmed to be just children scared of death.
Religious people are scared of a life without meaning. After the rush of hedonism carries off, the atheist is left with two choices. The first one is to struggle on, a choice made by the weak masses. The second one is only for the strong; suicide.
Only faith can provide meaning.

Is this correct? What is the role of philosophy now that we have science?
>>439636
But your example doesn't make them mutually exclusive. It just makes science to be philosophy with a flashlight.
>The Oatmeal
kill yourself OP
>>439636
No, it isn't correct. Science is incapable of clarifying philosophical ambiguities within their own theories without help from philosophers of physics/science/metaphysics. I can't think of one longstanding philosophical problem they've resolved on their own. Furthermore, science is predicated on metaphysical assumptions that are required if it is to operate in a functional manner. Science is good when it sticks to its own methods and aims, not when it tried to go beyond them.

How peaceful was the occupation? We're there many culture changes?
>Han Chinese couldn't over throw the Manchu Qing government until 1911
Why is this?
Han Chinese tend to be weak, servile compared to Manchus. Small, thin framed, non-athletic. Manchus still dominate in every field compared to the Han and have higher incomes years after the cultural revolution because they are clearly smarter and stronger in every way
