With Israel independence day coming up, let's discuss it's history.

How would you have compromised with the Arabs?

I would have genocided them while I had the chance. Yom Kippor war, no-one would have intervened to stop Israel annihilating those shitstains.

Once in High School I asked a Syrian kid if he was an Israeli Jew. I genuinely thought he was Israeli based on his accent and complexion. He got butt mad, but he said he was more mad about being called Israeli than being called a Jew.

if only mussolini hadn't invaded greece, taking hitler's attention away from the soviet union in the summer and tying his army up for precious warm months... oh how i lament the loss of all that could have been.
>>
>>1123110
Why did Mussolini invade Greece? Surely there must have a geopolitical reason behind it that was detrimental to the war effort.

Are you autistic? You can't have a New Roman Empire without Greece, That's like well...Greece without Debt

The low countries are very alluvial providing geographical barriers, they are also connected to trade with Denmark, France and England. The rise of sea trade during the Renaissance rivalling trade along the Rhine coincides with the religious upheavals and greater independence.

It is possible that "robber barons" played a role in this. Previously the empire would regulate tolls and taxes ensuring everything is fair and square, when this system broke down and the HRE didn't offer them much protection against French incursions, various cities probably began to wonder why they bothered. Though I'm speculating here.

Bolt action rifles, hand grenades, and some variant of the Maxim gun for the mostpart. Lots of handmade melee weapons, because a 6 foot long pike doesn't do you so well in the confined space of a trench.

A very broad question which I always like to see fleshed out by people who know more of the specifics than I do. It was truly a world war, and Germany's western front is not the only type of combat that was fought. African colonial campaign, and the ice fortresses of the alps are two other great ones, to say the least.
>>
>>1121639
Depends on the army. Most people had bolt actions.

I love the concept.

I'd actually love to see it as a regular TV series. Like a bunch of warriors from different time periods end up in the same place through some cosmic shenanigans and after a heated introduction they team up to beat the bad guy.

Why there are so few commentaries about the 50 years of the Cultural Revolution?

Is it because dwelling so much upon it would undermine the narrative of the left? After all, the Cultural Revolution in China was the moment in history where humanity has come closer to True Communism, and it was absolutely horrible. Besides, too much of the terminology and practices of that era are similar to modern terminology and practices of the hegemonic left for them to feel safe talking about it.

I ask because I want to see a documentary about it and I can't find none. On Netflix the only political documentaries are about leftist obsessions such as Nazis and mass killings of communists in the Third World (which are totally justifiable when you study the Cultural Revolution by the way).

Literal barbarians in every sense of the word. Afghanistan is on par with Hyborian age shit, it's that backwards and savage.

It's also kind of a meme country that didn't exist until 18th century and includes a shitload of tribes, which often leads to tribal conflicts.

Americans built a big dam
Turns out this drained a basin that became perfect for opium
Communists took over, and a dominant tribe started settling prime real estate (including opiumland) while suppressing everyone else with Russian help
America, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia destabilized the country with a civil war while planting a radical religious seed in a highly tribal and independent region of the country
The Americans tried to come in and run the place, only to empower cronies and target everyone who didn't like these cronies with heavy ordinance

The one mute Hamid fighter who looks a lot like Bin Laden would have been fine

Reading about the first Jesuits who entered Tibet.
I'm perplexed really. The level of erudition the Jesuits had is really unlike any other group of intellectuals.

These men entered Tibet, China and a number of other countries and managed to learn the language ( with a near native proficiency level ), study these cultures like modern anthropologists, dig deep into their canon ( and with such a great degree of understanding that scholars today have to agree with their insights and conclusions ) and even be skillful engineers and artists at the courts.

How come Jesuits are so based?

Pretty much any kind of battleship or carrier can be sunk in seconds with conventional-weapon rockets fired from hundreds if not thousands of miles away. All the old doctrines about "force projection" have been rendered obsolete IMHO. Navies of major powers continue to spend billions on new flotillas but it's just the inertia of military-industrial-complex tax-and-spend bullshit. Prove me wrong.

You need ships to transport supplies across the oceans, you are chair general scrub. Do you know how much it takes to transport a company of soldiers? How about a Battalion? A Regiment? Brigade? I'm not talking about shipping personal because efficiency is Airbus but what I am talking about is vehicles, ammo, medical supplies, equipment, food, ect.

Until space is used as an effective axom to transport supplies from spot to spot the navy will always have a place.

Now because of this massive need for logistics, these ships need adequate defense. Not only that but Aircraft Carriers make extremely effective launching points to drop Paratroopers to Expeditionary Force landings.

*the following is the sound of OP just getting BTFO because he plays too many video games and has never set foot in the military*
>>
When did force projection become obsolete? I must have missed that.

China is also the only country capable of sinking carriers at present, in simulations and assuming our new destroyers that are coming out this year are unable to defend against it.

I've always wondered and /v/ is talking about the new battlefield game and discussing this topic.
Could the Germans have won the war if the US was not involved in the war? Let's say they didn't economically sanction the Japs, because that's the main reason of their involvement.
Come on, /his/, get WILD!

I don't think so. American Lend & Lease was a non factor in the early Soviet victories. Which I think were ultimately key to that front. Britain had both beaten off the Germans in the Battle of Britain and turned the tide in the Battle of the Atlantic well before American entry into the war with new transport tactics and equipment. At that point Germany is facing a long war against two powers with a noticeably higher industrial capacity. At the same time, American efforts on the non-Eastern fronts cannot be ignored, so I imagine a longer war overall with a much slower and minimalized Western Allied advances. Still some involvement, mind you, as the British were active in Africa and provided half the troops for D-Day. Maybe the Soviets get to take the entirety of Germany some three or four years down the road?
>>
The US was already very much involved in the war before Pearl Harbor. It was Roosevelt's policy to support Europe's democracies against fascist aggression. He worked assiduously to find any way around Congress's Neutrality Acts to shore up Britain against Germany. The lend-lease act took place when the US was still a non-belligerent but it was decidedly NON-NEUTRAL. Roosevelt was determined to see the weight of the US thrown behind the Allies one way or another. The US had already declared a massive chunk of Atlantic waters to be under its protection (a deliberate 'fuck you' to German U-boat operations on British shipping), without Pearl Harbor maybe they just engineer some kind of incident in the Atlantic as a casus belli.
>>
well, that means ...

- without the early US supplies to UK?
- and later later land-lease?
- all the supplies to USSR?
- without any military answer to the attack of Pearl Harbour?

SURE!
