Your argument is meme tier. All weapons have strengths and weaknesses. Swords were fantastic weapons up until most soldiers started to wear extensive metal armor. If the sword wasn't meant to be a viable weapon we wouldn't have seen it evolve along with the armor into things like the tapered arming sword and the incredibly pointy estoq.

Polearms were replaced by bayonets while swords were still around in the form of sabers.There is also the matter of combat at a closer distance or when there is less room to maneuver, and in those situations the polearm user will typically lose. idk the exact historical contexts in which that happened, but that's how it works.
