Are the masses really being controlled by things such as movies, television, music, ect, or is this idea over exaggerated by people who project their self superiority on others as stupid sheep who cannot think for themselves. Is there really a hidden agenda being fed to the masses through, or is it just a expression of the times they where made in? Of course there can be both but it seems to me that it is blown out of proportion. Is there any evidence behind these theories?

/his/ WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS
>Bosnia and Herzegovina
>The Bosnian Indiana Jones has come into contact with a giant stone sphere. Like the famous movie counterpart, this large object is also bringing excitement along with it. The stone sphere discovered in mid-March, 2016 in Bosnia may be the largest of its kind in the world, however there is much debate if the feature is man-made or natural. The stone ball was discovered in a forest in Podubravlje and has a radius of between 1.2 – 1.5 meters (3.9-4.9 ft.) Preliminary tests suggest that it could weigh over 30 tons, making it the most massive stone sphere in Europe.
Are we witnessing the work of a lost civilization?
Ancient aliens.
what it is depends on the rock type, but it's hardly unusual, or unnatural

Studying the steppe is a bit like studying the core of the earth.
You know it's there, but you have to infer all of your data due to the impossibility of direct observation.
What would modern-day versions of ancient uniforms look like? Pic related is what a modern day Roman Soldier would look like, according to the movie "Coriolanus".

Wolfenstein: The New Order has an interesting concept for what a modern day Nazi uniform would look like.
"The Starving Time" refers to a period in American history when folk hero John Smith (of Pocahontas fame) abandoned his post in Jamestown, VA to return to the British Isles- because he was the captain and he wanted to. Upon returning months later, he found his camp in turmoil. Without proper leadership his crew had failed to competently ration their foodstuffs and resorted to stealing from Indigenous tribes, which retaliated- so they ate dogs. When the dogs ran out, children were used for sustenance. The crew was becoming desparate when he finally returned, but it can be assumed they would have begun to cannibalize themselves to the last man.
This is exactly why we can't look to authority figures to solve our problems. We must learn to solve issues on our own terms, in our own way, lest we perpetuate the ignorance that runs rampant in society. If all the grocery stores were looted clean, could you grow your own crops? Could you competently defend these crops from wildlife and scavengers? How? Can you build a fence? Properly maintain and utilize a weapon of any kind- not just guns?
There are people out there who care about this kind of thing, and this is for them. If you don't care or don't think the citizens of Earth are susceptible to societal collapse, you're lying to yourself, blinded by pride. Only those who are open with themselves and their minds can truly be open and productive in any society.

I assume the initial Jamestown colonist were all illustrious gentlemen from London.
Not sure.. I just remembered this from A.P. U.S. History and thought I'd share. Nobody I tell this ever believes me.
I'd assume they were just sailors with hopes of settling the New World.
I just find it an interesting tarnish on the otherwise sterling record of colonial America

They tried socialism and almost starved. They doled out property and let people keep the fruits of their labor and had an abundance, leading to the first Thanksgiving.
Socialism kills.
>during the Revolutionary War, Britain didn't know where to send the prisoners of war because their jails were overcrowded and up until then most were just sent to the colonies
>decided to keep them in prison ships docked off the coast
>these ships were packed to the brim with prisoners
>they were intentionally given very little food or care
>the air was so disgusting that the prisoners couldn't even keep their lanterns lit, so they all stood in complete darkness
>the heat was unbearable and lice and mites were abundant, so everyone had to stay completely naked
>many died every day of sickness and malnutrition
>"some swearing and blaspheming; others crying, praying, and wringing their hands; and stalking about like ghosts; others delirious, raving and storming"
>many died every day and it took weeks for any of them to be noticed by the British jailers because there was no light and it was so packed
>the dead were haphazardly thrown onto shore where they were buried in foot-deep mass graves
>more Americans died on these ships than in the actual war
Just thinking about being in one of these ships, stuck just standing there all day in the dark, skeleton thin, elbow-to-elbow with hundreds of naked prisoners, in that sweltering heat, surrounded by the dead, everyone yelling and crying... I dunno, it just creeps me out.

I have one ancient Greek Athenian silver coin.
Other than that, nothing, but I've had several chances to swipe some.
I used to house-sit for an old lady who had a couple bronzes recovered from Pompeii and a shoebox that had some old watches formerly owned by Louis XIV.
In university my archaeology professor gave me the keys to the s33krut lab so I could get some quiet study time. I was surrounded by wares picked up from various Mesoamerican civilizations and tribes. No figurines, more like shards and some modest clay vessels. And a lot of arrowheads.
I'm thinking of getting a metal detector and start some srs neolithic/bronze/iron age grave robbing though.
A survey for my fellow /his/tory buffs. Fill out as many as you feel like.
1) Are ideologies (Communism, Capitalism, for instance) destined to be different in theory than in practice?
2) When an ideology is different in theory than in practice, is someone/something to blame? If so, who or what?
3) Do proponents of ideology commonly attempt to sabotage the efforts of proponents of other ideologies?
3a) If so, is this a valid way for proponents of an ideology to establish the ideology's dominance? Why?
3b) If so, do the sabotaged proponents of the opposing ideology still constitute a good representative of that ideology, i.e. if a best effort is sabotaged, is that effort representative of the ideology?
4) Can a person be truly post-ideological, i.e. can a person somehow transcend and be above/beyond ideology?
5) Were humans ever pre-ideological, in your mind?
6) Do you subscribe to an ideology (or ideologies)?
6a) If so, which one(s)?
6b) Why?
6c) If more than one, do they conflict?

I understand the dictionary definition of ideology. Which I believe qualifies me to ask others questions about it other than"What is ideology?"
>>968866
>1) Are ideologies (Communism, Capitalism, for instance) destined to be different in theory than in practice?
Theory is not practise by definition, read the Sophists.
>2) When an ideology is different in theory than in practice, is someone/something to blame? If so, who or what?
Above.
>3) Do proponents of ideology commonly attempt to sabotage the efforts of proponents of other ideologies?
Naturally, all ideology is in a give-take relation to other ideology. Do you not know reality is Will to Power?
>3a) If so, is this a valid way for proponents of an ideology to establish the ideology's dominance? Why?
Valid, yes. Sound? Some ideologies are better than others.
>3b) If so, do the sabotaged proponents of the opposing ideology still constitute a good representative of that ideology, i.e. if a best effort is sabotaged, is that effort representative of the ideology?
It's weaker by definition.
>4) Can a person be truly post-ideological, i.e. can a person somehow transcend and be above/beyond ideology?
If their brain gets damaged enough to no longer produce "ideas" then yes. In the romantic terms you use? No, fantastical remnants of Plato.
>5) Were humans ever pre-ideological, in your mind?
Depends how you define "idea" but I think humans are too late in the hominini chain to be pre-ideological.
>6) Do you subscribe to an ideology (or ideologies)?
Yes.
>6a) If so, which one(s)?
The ubermensch within the eternal recurrence of will to power.
>6b) Why?
They comprise the healthiest, most aesthetic and rational ideology to date.
>6c) If more than one, do they conflict?
No.
