This isn't my area of expertise, so I would appreciate some insight? I know about the colonial independence struggles, but it seems to me that the decline of it happened well before that, and I'd like to know what precipitated that.
They invested all their gold into pretty buildings and wars instead of building up their own production, getting an economy as diverse as the one of Russia.

The Dutch Rebelling caused a lot of their colonies to rebel and they also blew far too much money in that war. They lost a war with the French who took a lot of their colonies too. Their empire was too outstretched to maintain on the limited funds that they had. France and UK overtook them.

This is how agriculture initially worked on the Nile and this is how they saw the source of all life. All life came from similar mounds of silt. When they wanted someone to go to the afterlife they created mounds to bury them in, to let the afterlife bloom.
The pharaohs supposedly were supposed to become gods upon death. Once gods they could help the people of Egypt, mainly by controlling the Nile's flooding so it didn't kill thousands of people....
