What? Can't a man get a shower head installed at dick level without a bunch of autists on a Congolese bark carving forum laughing?

1. Everything must have a cause.
2. The fact that my idea of God
represents an infinitely perfect being
must have a cause which is infinitely
perfect.
3. I am not infinitely perfect.
Therefore, I could not have an idea
representing an infinitely perfect being if
there were no such being outside of me.
4. I have an idea of God which
represents him as an infinitely perfect
being.
5. I could not have such an idea, if there
were no infinitely perfect being
outside of me.
Therefore, an infinitely perfect being,
i.e., God, exists outside of me.

How does this make any sense again?

I don't understand why it's somehow important that someone has thought of the idea of god.

It doesn't at all though. And the other 2 proofs of gods existence don't really make sense either.

Have regimes, prisons, and politics always been as cruel as they were in the twentieth century, or was that century just particularly mean?

20th century was particularly barbaric, but 21st century isn't exactly peaches and cream

So I'm looking to get into Opera. I feel like I should start with the popular ones that I can find online then work my way up to seeing a live performance. I'd also like perhaps English Operas so I know what the hell is going on.

I've literally never seen an full-fledged opera (unless light operas/musicals like Les Miserables or The Pirates of Penzance counts. I don't feel like they do though)

Let's talk about the Opera, ladies and gentlemen.

English Operas are usually only modern, and aren't super good. I'd only suggest Opera if you life both symphonies and stage plays, because Opera is obviously a combination of both elements. That being said, if you have any composers you prefer, eg. Mozart or Puccini, or a preference for a certain stylistic-period of Western art music, eg. Romantic or Baroque, I would recommend starting with operas similar in style to music you enjoy.

Also, Italian librettos (the lyrics) are almost always better than any other language, especially German

So, /his/, I am trying to create a private study plan/curriculum for different areas of history and humanities I'm trying to learn more about. The problem is I have this bad habit of creating a list of too many books to read within a small period of time. There is also the added problem of knowing what is essential before moving to the next level.

Right now, I am thinking only in terms of a year. While I can read quite a bit when I am in the mood to do so, there is no way I could finish all the two hundred or so books I have listed into that time-frame and even if I could, I have other things I need to fit into my schedule. Plus, if there are several fields I am studying, I need to divide my time between them wisely.

Put simply, what I require is a method to a suitable process of elimination when it comes to determining what I should read and in what order.
