I mean I know 'Blitzkrieg' which is striking the enemy unexpectedly very hard and to rush in as fast as possible to avoid getting into a trench war like Europeans did in WW1 (correct me if I'm wrong).

None of their manuals or handbooks contained the word Blitzkrieg and there's really no coherent doctrine of it. Guderian said it was the Allies that came up with it.
What was called Blitzkrieg was the latest in combined arms.
Infantry, tanks and aircraft were coordinated and deployed all together.
Only the Germans began the war with radios in every tank. They needed this technology to actually support all of this theoretical stuff.

How can something that happened so recently have been totally forgotten?

It seems so strange for something so huge to have totally fallen out of the picture. It's like if in 100 years no one will know that America went to the moon. Not that "it was faked!" just that no one will even mention it. Like it never even happened.

Pic related was the main bar of the Shanghai Club (now restored to its former glory as the Waldorf Hotel on the Bund, it's absolutely magnificent).
The higher you were up in the colonial foodchain in Shanghai, the closer you sat to the window. Sadly, this place was turned into a KFC one point, but I'm pleased to say that's its a real pleasure to visit these days.
