Imagine this...
Stalin rules over Nazi Germany
Hitler rules over USSR
What kind of history would happen?

Nazi Germany and the USSR would go to war.
>>
>>1013620
A flawed concept since the state they're running now opposes their ideology.
>>
>>1013620

It wouldn't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things imo. Both leaders would still be paranoid, both would be leading explicitly anti-commie/anti-fascist nations, both would feel that Eastern and Central Europe belonged under the control of Berlin/Moscow. And Germany would still be at an extreme disadvantage compared to the USSR in terms of resources and manpower.

Although I wonder if a guy with Hitler's personality could even rise to power in the USSR. Mobilizing the people didn't mean much there, what mattered was knowing your way around an established party hierarchy. Same goes for Stalin in Germany. In Germany, it was all about making grand speeches and mobilizing stupid working class people, not really Stalin's style. Also, how the hell is an Armenian going to lead a German nationalist party?

Singlestick, also known as cudgels, refers to both a martial art that uses a wooden stick as well as the weapon used in the art. It began as a way of training sailors in the use of swords such as the saber or the cutlass.[citation needed] Canne de combat, a French form of stick fighting, is similar to singlestick play, but is more a method of self-defense with a walking stick.

It originated in Great Britain, was at one time an Olympic sport in 1904, and was a training tool for armed fighting.

In class do you prefer to take written notes or type up your notes?

You always hear it's better to handwrite notes. Supposedly you retain info better,. but for me writing is just so god damn slow. I just lose track of what the prof is saying. Plus, you have to look down to write. It's possible I just suck at note-taking but whatever.

This has been scientifically proven, something with the consolidation of memories. It's been a year since I had my course on memory [nospoilerspossible]should have written some notes[/nospoilerspossible]

I honestly would not be surprised if it's propaganda funded by the pulp and paper industry. And professors like saying it because they assume everyone on their computers is on Facebook.

But even if it's the case for most people, I can say it's certainly not for me. You lose a lot more information when you can't keep up with the speed of the professor.

I write, but only the absolute crux of what he/she is saying. The details will most likely be found elsewhere. Throw in the intentional or otherwise obfuscation of information that they may deploy... basically don't hang on their every word.

If Anarchists are anti-top down organization, how did they organize chains of commands in emergency situations in their society? Did every decision have to be subject to a group meeting?

Isn't it just more rational to have the most experienced people at the top making the calls and organizing responses to things like battles, fires etc?

What did they do in Catalonia?

it's possible in anarchism to have chains of command, as long as it's based on free association. From what we've seen in Spain or in Ukraine (or with the modern day left libertarians of Mexico and Syrian Kurdistan), commanders still exist and are able to excersize some level of command. The critical thing is that every component of the military section (from squad up) have a running dialogue. Still, of course, it is always possible for any single member or united group to challenge whatever orders they get.
>>
No one is actually an anarchist, they just support anarchism in order to wipe the slate clean so they can setup their ideal government.
>>
Law and order is not absent in anarchy. It's just privately funded and volontary.

>Muslims take control of a city
>about to burn hundreds of thousands of books and manuscripts (yet again)
>get foiled by a third-world librarian in a dress

kek

>Mr. Haidara returned home from a business trip to learn that the weak Malian army had collapsed and that nearly 1,000 Islamist fighters from one of al Qaeda’s African affiliates, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, had occupied his city. He encountered looters, gunfire and black flags flying from government buildings, and he feared that the city’s dozens of libraries and repositories—home to hundreds of thousands of rare Arabic manuscripts—would be pillaged.

>Mr. Haidara knew that many of the works in the city’s repositories were ancient examples of the reasoned discourse and intellectual inquiry that the jihadists, with their intolerance and rigid views of Islam, wanted to destroy. The manuscripts, he thought, would inevitably become a target.

>The result was a heist worthy of “Ocean’s Eleven.” They bought metal and wooden trunks at a rate of between 50 and 80 a day, made more containers out of oil barrels and located safe houses around the city and beyond. They organized a small army of packers who worked silently in the dark and arranged for the trunks to be carried by donkey to their hiding places.

>By the time French troops invaded the north in January 2013, the radicals had managed to destroy only 4,000 of Timbuktu’s nearly 400,000 ancient manuscripts. “If we hadn’t acted,” Mr. Haidara told me later, “I’m almost 100% certain that many, many others would have been burned.”

the Glorious Revolution was the greatest historical development in the history of humanity

The Glorious Revolution was neither glorious nor a revolution

All "revolutions" past the 1700's have only been adding to the earths inevitable demise.

When Kant wrote admiringly about republican government, the "republic" he had in mind more than any other was England.

England was the one country to which every enlightened person in Europe looked with longing: the country which had conquered monarchical absolutism and religious obscurantism.

Does the existence of the Pirahã debunk pretty much every humanities theory?

>they have no concept of religion
>their language has no past tense
>their language has no numbers
>their language has no subordinate clauses
>they have no fables or stories
>they make no art
>they name their children after other members of the tribe, and many cannot remember the names of all four of their grandparents

Any theory of objective humanity trend, sure. But no one really believes in that anyway.
>>
>>1011645
What we know about them is filtered through a rather dubious source.
>>
I don't believe human trends and "laws" should be taken as completely absolute but as a way to Generalize human behavior.
