Which country makes/made your favorite propaganda, /his/? Personally, I'm a big fan of Vietnamese propaganda. Propaganda from communist nations has always fascinated me, and I feel that the French influence on Vietnam's propaganda art give it a liveliness and abstractness that's missing from Soviet, Chinese, and (especially) North Korean propaganda art. Additionally, it often seems like the Vietnamese were really trying to play up the "Uncle Ho" image of Ho Chi Minh (approachable, simple, a man of the people, etc.), as opposed to say, Chinese propaganda,...

Probably the U.S. just because the sheer quantity of it means there's a lot of entertaining posters. Some famous Soviet propaganda is hilarious too.
As far as aesthetic/cultural value goes, Germany, easily. Of course it's all bravado and self-aggrandizing bullshit, but that adds an ironic value to it.

I think I dislike Italian propaganda the most.
A lot of countries have likened themselves to the Romans in propaganda throughout the last millennium, yet somehow modern Italian propaganda likening its soldiers to legionaries manages to be some of the tackiest propaganda around. Honestly, every example I've seen is so ham-fisted.

Someone last thread was asking which materials are suitable for academic citation. I wouldn't cite “AMOoKoS Manual” or Carroll's “Apophenion”, but I'd certainly cite anything in there by Brill, any “University of” press and anything in there which counts as, given you project, a primary source, (Like Crowley's unpublished papers in the Yorke Microfilms of the Warburg Collection). When in doubt, ask your professor if a given book's an acceptable source reference.
Divination's as old as magic itself. It's got a long and rich history, from reading smoke, to flocks of birds, to the organs of animals. Haruspex was the method of divination by which an diviner would 'read' the qualities of an animal liver and attempt discerning an answer to the query. We've got a number of Etruscian (and other) bronze plates that illustrate places where abnormalities of the liver could be found and their rough correspondence. Babalon would also do this, in the form of 'Barutu'. We actually have large chunks of translations of the core texts and there's an academic book called “Babylonian Liver Omens” that covers them. I do not have a scan as I cannot find it online but surely if you're in Uni you can get an interlibrary loan. Oddly enough I don't really have a working divination folder. Usually divinatory methods get subsumed into other practices in magical systems. You'll get a lesson on divination while learning about broader topic X. As such divinatory material's really scattered about the library, beyond the mentioned material I've got a copy of Tarot and the Magus over in the Thelema folder.
Anyway, I'd still love to hear about some material or references on old Chinese astrology beyond what a google...
