This is my problem with this. Language is ever changing and Truth is an idea, do you mean the concept of truth? Because concepts are social constructions, you cannot hold one in your hands. Truth is whatever I want it to be, what may be truth to you may be different to someone else. It's all semantics really, which I normally don't mind but I feel struggling so long at "truth" just screams to me that we've been going at this at the wrong angle is all.

I have grandparents that are Mayan through my grandmothers paternal side, and through her paternal side very Nahua people. How much of a failure has the supporting of the Mujahideen turned out to be in the long-run for the USA and its allies?
Were they justified in supporting the Mujahideen after the Soviets intervened at the request of the Afghan government? Were the Soviets justified in intervening in the first place?

Depends on how you would interpret the aims of US foreign policy on whether or not supporting the Mujahideen hurt the US in the long-run.
Outside of the material and human cost of 9/11, the war in Afghanistan and the greater war on terror the US now has an enemy to point to; something that was lacking after the USSR collapsed and something that can be very unifying among regular people.

immoral to whom? immoral is a very subjective term and some things which might be considered immoral might not be immoral in another community or for another person. oppressing the weak might seem immoral to you but another person might see it as keeping the weak link from breaking by keeping it under control.
