Catholicism. Catholicism has murdered over a hundred million people. Not Christianity. And of course suicide bombers aren't in the quran. The quran was written in the 7th century.

Is it true that nobody in America respects you unless you come from money or make it big?

It seems that America has an unforgiving view of class.

Asking here because /pol/ is garbage.

I've got five hours by myself, /his/. Where do I begin with Chinese History? I essentially want to learn all the things relating to it in order to read and understand Art of War, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Journey to the West.

Wikipedia. Once you've read a few articles you will be the top expert on Chinese history on the whole of /his/.
>>
Start with Tao Te Ching, then move to Confucius.
>>
China was founded by a redhead Turk (Qin Shi Huangdi) who set the stage for China's endless cucking by foreigners unlike the steadfast Japanese who have never been conquered. Go learn Japanese history instead, it's far more interesting compared to Cucknese """history""" and the Cucknese people who have never produced anything notable aside from a shitty Communist dictatorship.

I don't want to sound like a fedora tipping atheist or anything of the sort, but I am starting to believe less and less of the faith I have been brought up in and around.

Whenever I attempted to be skeptical when I was younger, I was always met with derision and the response of "but you know the truth" from people around me who were Christians, and I always sort of accepted that because I couldn't refute it without going "I don't know." That seems to be basis of everything in religion though. The whole "I have faith or I 'know' so I am correct" thing just doesn't really work for me anymore.

I don't entirely know what to believe because I still feel like I really don't know and I won't know so I can't entirely rule something out, but I also don't think it's anything to do with any sort of modern religion which I really do kind of see as an opiate of the masses.

Now, I live in the erican south and have been here all my life. Everyone around me goes to church and believes in God, so it's a bit difficult for me to "get away from it" or have any real discussion on it that could see things from my point of view. What do I do?

You could just consider christianity as a cultural way of embracing some other form of universal theism. That way you can live the atheistic life without feeling too much cultural disonance.
>>
I feel you, I came from the same background with a similar experience. My view is that you can only believe what you find convincing, and each person finds some spectrum of reasoned arguments, life experience, and empathic appeals to be convincing. Your best bet is to independently read philosophical and anthropological books to gain a broader perspective than is offered by the Baptists/etc. Once you see how temporal and contained that worldview is, they won't have any power over you anymore. Don't bother to discuss these things with your own immediate family since particularly in the American South, honest discussion of ideas is strictly sanctioned and discouraged, they will be religiously motivated to force you to accept their assertions not by careful intelligent argumentation but by emotional coercion. Just avoid that quicksand altogether and go to the library like I did.

You can't deny religious figures have in some ways been good for society. They have at times been figures who speak for peace, patience, forgiveness, understanding, etc... Perhaps for unfounded reasons, but nevertheless.

Now that God's dying, who will take their place? Will this become an issue?
What will society look like in the future, when values based of religion grows weaker and weaker?

>>
Why does anything have to take religion's place?

Look at countries like Japan, and some northern/eastern European nations for places where religious institutions have become fringe and a relic of the past.

In Britain for most, Christianity is a cultural thing rather than a philosophy or set of ethics to be practiced.

The State. It already happened.
>>
Not only is God dead but so is reality. The rise of nihilism has meant that values
have become baseless and what is "real" and what is illusion are equally meaningful,
in fact reality has become so devalued that escapist illusions are preferable to
reality.

We are living the age of the Last Man now.

If Rome detested kings and if the mob loved it when Julius Caesar denied crown then why was Rome so willing to accept later caesars as such absolute dictators? Did the senate seem untrustworthy after the assassination of Julius Caesar? Would the Roman Empire have had so many dictators had the Senate let Julius Caesar rule for his natural life?

Late Roman Empires weren't dictators. They had dictatorial powers which is not the same in pre-modern minds. It was Augustus' idea to detach the powers from the offices ("honores"). Also the senate renewed this powers regularly so the Patricians didn't get pissed and were able to play their power games still.

>why was Rome so willing to accept later Caesars as such absolute dictators?
as previous anon mentioned, the republican facade was still in place at first. Also, if you've even just listened to the Dan Carlin series, you'd know that by Octavian's time Rome had finished the roller coaster of civil war and proscriptions and triumvirates. Someone who would make the killing stop and bring stability was welcome.

Many of these Protestant groups make these kinds of inferences because they are genuinely ignorant of the history of the Christian religion.

For example, many Protestant groups claim the fish-like hat bishops wear, the mitre, is related to Dagon, when it is actually a nod to Jesus' decree to the apostles that they would be "fishers of men."

Just because modern day Protestants are retardedddoesn't mean that some know their shit. The only people who actively worship Mother Mary are Mexicans, who hold her in an even greater regard than God.

Let's post those historical-related feels, Anons:

>You will never walk through the streets of Constantinople at its height in the 10th century, when it was the greatest city in the world
>You will never be an American student living in Montmartre of Paris and attending the Ecole de Beaux-Arts during the Belle Epoque, working as a scribe-clerk to support yourself and spending the nights alternating between writing poetry and going out with your socialist friends and drinking
>You will never be a member of the Russian nobility fleeing the Reds, sailing away on the last ship from Sevastopol, watching the Red flag being hoisted on the city spires, knowing the Empire is ended and that you must now be an exile

To start us off, I'm breaking the rule and none of you can stop me.

>>
>>846661
Some tend to call it chameleoning. Where you change your personality wildly depending on the person you're talking to. Otherwise I don't see much an issue with trying to have some determinism in what your identity is.

It gets associated with people who have certain disorders like BPD or ADHD,
