What is the ego? What is egoism?

Isn't Stirner's concept of the "spook" a spook in and of itself?

No, but egoism is
>>
Ego means a material conception of the individual, the word more accurately translates as "unique one"

Spook is axiomatically defined as anything placed above self-interest.

What's the most JUST culture or ethnic group that's still around?

I vote Assyrians. They went from dominating the entire Middle East to being just another powerless indigenous minority in that region.

As an Assyrian, it's hard to believe that there are less of us in Iraq now then after the genocide during WW1. It just goes to show how fucked up Iraq really is, my dad who has worked towards in the ADM ever since Sadaam, which of course was illegal, has basically given up on independence for us staying there are far too many Kurds and far too few Assyrians to defend themselves from ISIS. A YPG member actually murdered a military leader for a small independent Assyrians militia and no one cared because the last time an external nation supported us was the British during WW1 up until the 1950's and yielded no real reward. The militia leader was actually shot along with his friend but his friend survived and made his way to a road where he got a hold of driver that took him to the hospital. The YPG member as punished but he did not act alone meaning this hate will probably spread to more and more crimes on innocent Assyrian soldiersm The government of Iraq has just recently started arming us but I assume it's a only a temporary situation.

Assume that your ancestors used to be monarchs. Do you have any right to feel proud about it ? Or you feel ashamed for being such a worthless creature despite your origin ?

Literally the definition of "nobility" was inherent superiority.
So yes you would and should feel proud.
Not that it matters.
>>
>>769162
fuck off /pol/ and no you shouldn't be proud about stuff other people did just because they looked like you or were born inside the same borders as you. You have only the right to feel proud about what you made yourself

So what are most historian's verdict on Paul?

Was he really an apostle or was he actually just a guy who dreamed about Yeshua once and claimed himself a saint?

History generally doesn't assume that there is a God giving visions to people.

Historically some people thought Paul received visions, that's about all you can say.

>History generally doesn't assume that there is a God giving visions to people.

Isn't this kind of a failure on the part of historical study?

How does this happen? Surely there must have been one power hungry tribe out there who wanted bigger borders?

I'm no expert, but I feel that Australia's expanse vs low-level sustainability prevented high concentrations of conflict and centralization, similar to the situation in pre-modern Africa.

How do people seriously think that the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unjustified, and that a mainland invasion or letting the Japanese starve to death was a better way of ending the war?
150 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
because there are documents showing that Japan was ready to surrender 2 months before the bombs were dropped, with the sole condition that the emperor and the royal family be left unharmed and be allowed to retain their royal status. America wouldn't accept these terms and wanted total, unconditional surrender. Dropped the bombs. Then whaddya know, they granted Japan's sole condition re: the imperial family.

America dropped the bombs as a show of force, not as a necessity.
>>
>>768429
While I agree with your stance, your information is incorrect. Japan wasn't ready to surrender, and although the notion was discussed it wouldn't have happened if not for the atomic bombs or strong pressure from its allies. (Why the fuck do you think it didn't immediately capitulate after Hiroshima).

>>768406
How the fuck is dropping atomic bombs, which influences areas for generations afterwards, ever permissible.

The English language lacks a good equivalent to the German word "bildung".
Has this affected Anglos?

Seeing how Anglo countries have run the world for quite some time: is this why the world is shit, due to the Anglo culture and values having spread globally?

Is Bildung talked about in your country (post your country)?

What's worth living for if you can't believe in God?

Finding your own meaning, is the most heard answer. "Go after your interests."
How is this not the same as admitting the only thing that makes life worth living is what gives you pleasure? So there we go: Hedonism it is.

What is wrong with hedonism from an atheist perspective?
>>
Because meaning != pleasure

Meaning can be just about anything. If you think meaning nothing but pleasure, than I'm afraid you still have a lot of growing up left to do

even if he avoids the Ides of March he would have been assassinated later, its not like if Caesar didn't show up in the forum they would have just put their knives away and gave up, they were all committed to killing him and would have just plotted another assassination.

Besides it was Augustus that consolidated the power and laid the framework to allow Rome to swell up to the size that it did.

First time I've heard people say that the Civil War wasn't about slavery on here , is that the truth? Have my history teachers been lying to me all these years? was slavery just part of it or the main reason?

It's an oversimplification, really. It's like saying WW1 was fought over Ferdinand getting shot.
>>
It was about money. On both sides.
>>
the south seceded because of slavery
the war was fought because of this secession
