Would the South ever emancipate slaves and give them rights on its own?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
The trend in the western world for the last couple centuries was to do so. I'd imagine the southern states would have done so eventually.
>>
It would have happened eventually

shit, even share-cropping was basically just one meager step above slavery and just about as profitable for landowners
>>
Yes. Industrialisation and the development of modern farming equipment rendered the work done by slaves obsolete. It would be more economically beneficial (at least, in theory) to emancipate slaves to become consumers in a capitalist society instead of having them live off their masters.

Because he had broken a number of other treaties, most notably the Anglo-German naval treaty as well as the Munich treaty, and there was 0 faith that Hitler would keep his word once it became disadvantageous for him to break it.
>>
>>426048
Hitler broke several treaties, and why should the Europeans have thus continued a diplomatic course that was obviously unfavorable in strategic terms for the "liberal" powers of Europe?

You're just a expression of a cosmic process. There's no cartoony shit waiting for you in death. Death is a process of nature, and when is nature anything solemn and austere? Your elements dissipate and if religion and are NDEs describe something true, the eternal part of you goes someplace else beautiful where you review your life and go from there

Death doesn't scare me, just when it hits me that I know I'm about to die no matter what, that's what is gonna really freak me the fuck out

I hear people claim that famines in china and russia were completely out of the government's control and not the fault of the failure of communism. Is there any truth to this?

Yes.

The guy I was talking to said that China's famine was due to a drought in the 60s. Another guy said that the tech to circumvent this was widely available and China has no excuse for letting people starve like that.

That's really unlikely given that the Italian government was set up by conservatives and the US.

Capture Gibraltar from the English. Spain and Italy block the Royal Navy from the Med.

British holdings in north africa and middle east are now even more cut off from the UK.

Spain and Italy screw things up. UK and USA invade Spain. Spain surrenders quickly. North Africa and Italy campaigns set back 6-8 months.

Seems to be mostly a problem of 3rd world nations and the US. See it positive, religion is dying in developed countries. In a couple decades it will be a mere memory.

Well god is infinitly cruel so what do you expect?
>>
>>420745
If you actually look at what these religions teach, both of them have basically infinite options for redemption. Especially Islam has like a billion things you can do which, according to the texts, guarantees you paradise. One of which is merely wishing for your brother that which you wish for yourself.

So, for the same token as yours:
>expect to be praised for all eternity in Paradise for a good deed commited in a finite lifetime
>relatively speaking 5 seconds of being good, compared to eternity of reward

I used to post a lot on /sci/ curing it's first year and a half as a board. It was great back then. But the constant flow of stuck up freshman science majors killed the board. They thought the fact that they were pursuing a hard science degree meant they were big shit so they poo-pood all speculative discussion. A board of nothing but discussion with actual scientific merit would have been something of value, but by getting rid of the anons taking part in speculative threads they killed /sci/'s post frequency. They lost the heart the the board used to have along with a lot of the people with legit knowledge in the sciences.

/his/ stands to suffer the same fate if it isn't flexible enough. I'm hopeful though. History majors seem less stuck up than physics majors.

I actually think Edison is underrated in most circumstances. He's responsible for driving a lot of the experimentation that happened in Menlo Park. The pioneering of the organized research lab, arguably the sole catalyst for the huge leap in technology of the 20th century, allowed people like Tesla who would otherwise go unnoticed to thrive in an organized enviornment.

He made science profitable. Inventions that were used as parlor tricks in the past became the backbone of the modern day economy.

The people who demonize Edison often underestimate the impact, as well as the innovation, of his achievements. Was he wrong about AC? Absolutely. But his accomplishments extend beyond that.

The KGB funded both white supremacist grounps and civil rights groups in an effort to create a race war.

Other than that, it was the continuation of a historical process that had been going on since reconstruction.

>Julius Caesar reported (in De Bello Gallico) that the Britanni used to colour their bodies blue with vitrum, a word that roughly translates to "glass". Many have assumed that vitrum refers to woad, but other modern authors regard this as a misconception, possibly repeated for political reasons; Caesar may have been describing some form of copper- or iron-based pigment.[8][9][unreliable source?] The northern inhabitants of Britain came to be known as Picts (Picti), meaning "painted ones" in Latin, which was due to accounts of them painting or tattooing their bodies. However, modern experiments with woad show it does not work as a tattoo pigment, is caustic and causes scarring when put into the skin.[8][9]

So Battle-Smurfs never existed?

Copper would be green, wouldn't it?
Also, for all we know they had some mixture that counteracted the skin irritation.
>>

green and blue can be quite problematic colours. People often mix them up and many cultures don't distinguish between them, we obviously don't know much about the picts but in Irish, green and blue usually weren't distinguished until medieval times. Also the same word "glas" means green in Irish and blue in welsh

The construction of Stonehenge has been attributed to giants who sailed from Africa bringing their skills with them. The presence of giants may not necessarily be a figment of the imagination. Giants have been mentioned in the Bible. They was a Black Canaanite race called Anakim.

The Roman historian, Tacitus, mentioned "the dark complexion and unusually curly hair" of the Silures, or Black Celts who he believed migrated there from Spain. When Julius Caesar invaded Britain he met these Blacks. Julius Caesar's army was itself composed of prominent Blacks. In fact Blacks have served as Roman emperors on a number of occasions.

The Scots are themselves of Black origin. Ireland was once known as Scotia Magna and Scotland was called Caledonia until about the third century A.D. when a tribe invaded Caledonia and the name was changed to Scotia. The Irish are said to have derived the name Scotia from the daughter of an Egyptian Pharaoh named Scota.
