Hey /his/ I'm struggling with how I should answer this question, and was hoping to get some of your thoughts on what you think it's asking for. It's for a 5000 word undergrad essay.
'Was the American Revolution really a revolution? Discuss in relations to the theories of Arendt and ----'
I've started to plan the essay around the consequences of the revolution, and evaluating the impact of it. But I think I'm reading the question wrong.
Am I right in thinking it's more of a discussion of what constitutes a revolution and discussing...

It sounds more like it's the second interpretation.
>>835307
Arendt and whom else?
You should read Arendt's theory of revolution, and —'s theory, and contrast them based on evidence from history.

Neil Davidson, referring almost certainly to his book 'How Revolutinary were the Bourgeois Revolutions?'
And yeah that's exactly what I thought anon, thanks
Why do people on /his/ hate him?

He doesn't update his routines often enough, and his rape jokes aren't funny enough.

Eastern Europe has been poor for more than since communism. It feel behind western Europe as early as the 14th century when in western Europe peasants were freed and allowed to trade and choose their profession while in eastern Europe the upper class was able to subdue the peasants even harder than before.
Then 100 years later western Europe started colonizing the world while eastern Europe stayed backwards as fuck and the inequality has only become wider since then (industrialisation in western Europe vs. ludite upperclass in Austria-Hungary and Russia preventing industrialization...

Breaking the meme about communism preventing the east from being equal to the west
Like I mean if you take a poor country and it experiences a socialist revolution it's still going to be poor
>>834931
Russia did colonize the world tho.
But I agree with you. Uneducated people too readily bash communism, while in many cases it improved the country in question. Communism can work, if you practice it in consideration and know when to stop. Look at China.
Not a communist but "muh communism = bad" is a meme.
Reminder that Stalin's 5-year plans urbanized Russia faster than any country in recorded history

He was btfo the second he tried to pretend to be an academic.
Chomsky is a silly contrarian unconcerned with debating seriously with a fellow intellectual.

>evidence of absence is evidence of absence
Why do people do believe this?
>>834123
Because it's true Absence of evidence doesn't PROVE absence of the phenomena, but if you keep looking and never find anything then that is itself good evidence that perhaps there is nothing there at all.
>evidence of absence is evidence of absence
There's literally nothing possibly wrong with this statement.
>>834123
Sure you didn't mean absence of evidence is evidence of absence? Because what you wrote is a logical necessity.

Because to Italians back then used to corruption and inefficiency, a sight like that would be very welcome. Plus the fact that this was before this aesthetic was reappropriated for comic book and movie supervillains, so it wouldn't have carried such connotations.
Were European and Japanese nobles the only cunts autistic about heraldry? Especially Europe (motherfucking Armigery) Seems that other civilizations' nobles did not bother with them.
Like, what about China? Indians? Muslims? Did Rome have heraldry?

In China's case, their feudal aristocracy got BTFO when the Empire was established and the meritocratic aristocracy took its place.
That said, when China had feudal nobles prior the Imperial Age, the closest equivalent of a feudal coat of arms would be the character of the name of your state/duchy/march/county
Which makes sense: it's already a logographic Character system. Although State Names were in Seal-Script. That was in Ancient China.

>Part 2
During the Empire, the only heraldic symbol remaining was the Dragon, and was associated with just one guy, the last Chinese nobleman: the Emperor and his ilk.
By the late Imperial Age (1000 AD-1911 AD), it got formalized. The Emperor's dragon is to have five claws. His immediate relatives will have 4 claws, while the res can use 3 claws. Drawing a five clawed dragon for yourself is an act of sedition funnily enough.
This is the reason why non Chinese dragons...

Everyone who read Marx say "The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles" and took it to be literal truth and acted on it.

If he had picked either of them, chances are the other would have joined him
