Why didn't Alaric retake Britain?
>>928959
He had better things to do.
>>928959
Because he died after ravaging Italy a few times in order to extort rank and privileges from Honorius. Britain was a relatively poor part of the empire, Alaric wanted the province of Africa.

Hey, /his/ whats a good book about the whole Middle Ages? I want something written with a more academic perception of that time period. I've seen so far lots of books about the theme but they all are like "muh dark ages", "muh european barbarians" and "the muslims were the good guys". I'd like something more "mature" perhaps.

The REAL POLITICALLY INCORRECT History if the Crusades by Jack t. Reese
Visigothic Spain was an Oasis by Pedro Looses
I'm kidding
Some anon posted a bunch of annotated bibliographies that would appeal to your need for more mature...

So you're looking for a book that fits your biases?
If a lot of books are pointing out that Europe was in a large decline and slump after the fall of the Roman Empire, and the Muslim Empires were prosperous, then you know what that means? That means Europe was in a large decline and slump and the Muslims were prosperous.
Stop trying to find propaganda books. Europe is stable now and the Middle East is war torn. You don't need to make up fake history to stroke your ego.

You wouldn't have a personal suggestion, would you?

Sam Harris is pretty based, but pic related is the GOAT philosopher.

philosophy fags are so mad. The philosophy of science, specifically Popperian post-positivism will go down in history as the last meaningful development in philosophy.
What the fuck happened in this time in Europe? Why did everyone migrate like crazy around 200-500 AD? Did other continents experience these ginormous clusterfucks too, or was this a Yuropoorean thing?

Huns and other steppeniggers pushing from the East
The weak got pushed out of Scandinavia and had to settle in Rome and Spain.
Pretty much Germanic and Slavic tribes using Rome's weakness and moving in.
What do you think of this booklist, /his/?

Also I don't feel those books compliment plato works.
Why do fundamentalist protestants almost always start to develop conspiracy theories about the pope or other Catholics running the world?
Everyone else just goes with the Jews or Freemasons running things when they actually do hold conspiracy theories.
the Eternal Butthurt
Because fundamentalist prots love nothing more than sucking Jew cock and unconditionally supporting Israel because 'muh chosun peepul'
Because according to extreme Protestants the Catholic Church is the devils church and so have unlimited power but no souls, and thus could run everything and nothing at the same time
But it's probably for the same reason why Jews are blamed for problems, Jesuit education made small sects of Catholics smart these people then rise to high places, they teach their children and reccomened them so they get in high places,
Also same thing with racism when you complain about a majority it's fine
What are some history podcasts you would recommend that are entertaining and informative?
1. History of Rome
2. History of Byzantium
3. History of the Crusades
4. A History of Europe, Key Battles
5. History of Islam
6. Emperors of Rome
7. The Eastern Border
8. The History of Denmark
9. The History of the Mongols

Serious question to all Christians here: how can you remain confident in your faith after learning everything about the historical context from which your religion comes from?
meaning: Judaism was initially a polytheistic religion of Canaanite origin that borrowed heavily from Phoenician and Mesopotamian myths. Judaism only began to center around monotheistic YHWH worship when the Jews were exiled by the Babylonians (at which point the entire Jewish religion went through a major paradigm shift from there being multiple gods, to a select pantheon of high-gods, to YHWH...

What is the issue?
>the Canaanite High God, El, gets merged with the neighboring thunder god Yaweh
>some people insist Israel must only worship Yaweh, who is superior to the other Gods
>Babylonian exile, Israel gets some modesty, prophets say Yaweh is not the angry tribal god their ancestors worshipped, but the one and only God to ever exist and actually a nice fellow who did choose Israel but will punish it too if it fucks upComment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I took an economics course in college but had a really, really shit teacher. Could anyone recommend some solid reviews of economic theories and contemporary policies? I'm becoming extremely fascinated by this current debt crisis and the idea of centralized banking but I want to understand it all.
It's a thousand pages or so but don't worry, it is very simple. You can get through it in a week or so.

How was Germany able to remilitarize in the 1930's? Why didn't the league of nations step in? Was the Spanish Civil a distraction allowing germany to remilitarize?
>Pic not related
>Why didn't the league of nations step in?
No one wanted to go to war, Hitler basically forced them to.
History might have been different if Nazi Germany just kept to itself, we didn't even know the full extent of the exterminations until after the war was over.
