Has there ever been a society that has prospered without abusing the weak of their own nation?

>has prospered without abusing the weak of their own nation
These are incredibly vague words. What counts as abuse? As weak?
>>980114
Abuse as in taking advantage of them economically and giving them no rights or voice in a legal setting.
How can you claim to understand history bug not recognize religion as a man made invention or even entertain the idea that one of them is "correct"?

I'm glad that you like.Answer my question now!
This isn't my area of expertise, so I would appreciate some insight? I know about the colonial independence struggles, but it seems to me that the decline of it happened well before that, and I'd like to know what precipitated that.
They invested all their gold into pretty buildings and wars instead of building up their own production, getting an economy as diverse as the one of Russia.
The Eternal Frog also came around to screw up any chances to get things going with Austria.

So, they just sort of sat on their empire instead of using it to get ahead of the other European powers?

The Dutch Rebelling caused a lot of their colonies to rebel and they also blew far too much money in that war. They lost a war with the French who took a lot of their colonies too. Their empire was too outstretched to maintain on the limited funds that they had. France and UK overtook them.
congratulations! you drew the short straw and now you're being conscripted into World War II to fight for your country.
your family are very proud. all you have to do is fill out a simple form to select which area of the armed forces you prefer. they currently need recruits for several different and fulfilling positions. it's casually mentioned in the fine print that if you refuse to complete the paperwork you'll be shot in the town square the following morning.

Ten thousand years? Probably not any different than we do now except we'd all be brown.

Just something about the climate, and the isolationist nature of those people that intrigues me, it's like they lived on Earth in their own little bubble away from all the continents and their wars.
Because I frequently see people asking for podcasts recs and asking about them I decided to do something and made this image for /his/.

Honestly lines up perfectly with my views on all the shows I listen to. Not bad OP, though you might wanna fix up the spelling errors for the audiobooks and History of the Crusades descriptions.
Can we talk about these fucking things for a minute.
They were built around 2600 BCE. Most people just look at that and think "Yeah that's a really fucking old date, like with Cleopatra and shit".
No, 2600BCE is so long ago that it's barely half a millennia after the dawn of civilisation. The life of Jesus is not even HALF WAY between the current date and when the pyramids were built. Modern humans hadn't even reached the America's and these things were already built. They are Earth-shatteringly old.
So why did they make them?...

They were colourful too.
When the Nile floods it leaves clods of slit. When a seed is simply placed in these clods of silt it grows very well. This is how agriculture initially worked on the Nile and this is how they saw the source of all life. All life came from similar mounds of silt. When they wanted someone to go to the afterlife they created mounds to bury them in, to let the afterlife bloom.
The pharaohs supposedly were supposed to become gods upon death. Once gods they could help the people of Egypt, mainly by controlling the Nile's flooding so it didn't kill thousands of people....

I apologize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong board, I think the rules are really fuzzy regarding this.
I'm interested in adult fiction pulp cover art from the 50's-70's. In particular lesbian and Nazi erotica.
Is it just me or was there an obsession with Nazi sex dungeons following World War Two? If so, why was this the case? Why was lesbian erotica so popular? Why is lesbian porn still popular?
I'll post a couple of covers I really like and explain why I like them so much.

Hey /his/ started this thread on /biz/ and they directed me here,so I need your recommendation on the best book about Economic history, something that really gives an extensive walk through of the development of economic thought from the beginning of social groups to contemporary times with as little bias as possible.
why do you need it
just might as well state your assignment question directly
>>979135
not for any assignment, I need it for my own personal research and I couldn't find a decent book on Google so I had hoped the intellectuals of 4chan could point me in the right direction.

How would the world be different if henry viii never broke from the one church and abandoned his concubine Anne.
Then James 2nd and Charles would have ruled England quicker
Skip Anglicanism and go straight to Lutheranism, because they don't want to pay indulgences - which are basically taxes - to Rome, or even jumping on the Geneva bandwagon.
Puritans end in America regardless.
The only question is how much less frequently would the Brits kill one another.
Sir Thomas more banned protestant books. So the heresy of Lutheranism would not take on hold in england. England would remain catholic, new england would be catholic.
tell me about the lands of the czech/bohemian crown
like, what is the meaning behind proclaiming that entity?
as far as i can tell nothing had actually changed, they were a bunch of realms with a joint ruler
(some of which might have had some other ties, i.e. bohemia+moravia)
or any 'lands of X crown' concept basically
is it just the ruler saying 'alright things might have been kinda independent until now but from now on all of yous are one single together thing'? is it just some crusaderkings-tier 'prestige thing' with...

Late Middle Ages in area east of Germany (Bohemia, Hungary and Poland, in fact even Denmark and Sweden) was characterized by emergence of nobility and the diet as the most important entity in the state.
Curiously a lot of monarchs of those countries had massive problems with siring sons, which led to constantly changing families on the throne. Personal unions and elections of the kings became endemic.
Oftenly king was a foreigner, lived outside the kingdom in some other realm of his, was mistrusted or unpopular.
Noblemen were native, they had seen themselves as the...

so the concept of a crown of bohemia was some sort of a 'proto federation' or a 'unified state'? as in uniting various realms together in an administrative/political way so that in the event of a crisis in succession these would not be broken apart
how did that work then? were the people (or rather the ruling nobility) all for it?
because i have a hard time imagining the concept being kept alive without their consent - what's stopping them from saying 'bye lads i'm out, t. duke...
