Do you think maybe if /his/ collectively spewed some bullshit on a website that it'd be as good as Mundus or Orgy?
>>1221723
Interesting but sickening. His philosophy is stuck in some dark, moist, musky place between the Apollonian and the Dionysian.
Post comfy things history related. That's it.
I think it must have been comfy as fuck to be an English nobleman or member of the peerage in the 19th Century at the height of Romanticism. That roiling, Gothic aesthetic would only add to the charm and appeal of your huge country house out upon the hills and amid the forests.

Manuscript doodles by bored monks tend to invoke comfiness and humour as well.

What's the Frankfurt School all about?
>>1221679
Trolling far-righters, as far as I can tell.
One day Jewish revolutionaries waked up and realized that the working-class didn't actually wanted a revolution.
The Frankfurt School was about them dealing with that. It ranged from calling them fascists and hoping that if they were embarassed enough about it they would support anything Jews proposed (Adorno), to proposing a new revolutionary coalition between the intellectuals, marginalized groups such as women and blacks, and the lumpenproletariat (Marcuse).
Hey /his/. Are there any good books to read about Roman history, culture, etc.? If so tell me.
>>1220684
No, there actually are none at all.
>>1220684
Start with the Aeneid.
For context to it, start with the Iliad and Odyssey.
If you read between the lines there's a series called SPQR that I like a lot. It's a mystery fiction though, so like I said, read between the lines.
What were ninjas like in real life history?
ask them
People of the lower class who were hired as mercanaries, spies, raiders, etc.
>>1220648
Iirc most of them clothed as commoners and few use the classic pure black ninja suit. The existance of ninjato (the short sword that ninjas use) seems to be non existent. Oh also THEY DONT USE JUTSUS OR RUN AROUND HALF NAKED
Did men create god?
Isn't 500 threads a day enough for you people?
Literally no one on this board that is either an atheist or a theist has had their opinion changed here.

But what is this?
If the Socratic method is so good, why didn't it save him?
>>1215552
what does the socratic method being "good" have to do with it saving him?
DEFINE "GOOD."
Because dying over a hasty and miscalculated judgement was the ultimate validation of his method.

Rhetorically effective.

The Ottoman growth era ended somewhere in the 1600s, but if it hadn't stagnated, where would they have expanded? Did they have any specific territorial ambitions besides vienna?
>>1221513
>but if it hadn't stagnated,
You mean not fucking up at Vienna and Lepanto? The only place they could expand to realistically was Europe. The Russians and Persians were their equals so they didn't bother with them.
>>1221513
They wouldn't/couldn't expand much further. Maybe a little more into Europe and Central Asia.
What they could have done is try reforming their system and become more like West Europe, but then again, Islam was powerful at the time.
>>1221531
>Islam was powerful at the time
You mean the Yenciri?
Hello /his/
Do any of you think that the Black/Afro-American community will have another Harlem Renaissance?
Will black people like pic related resurface?
Or is its current state beyond repair and are we stuck with criminals/rappers?
>>1221497
1. Don't romanticize the Harlem "Renaissance" it was not as great as white historians like the make it
2. The perspective of black people making music/books/films for black people devoid of the White gaze is a beautiful thing. You don't have to get it because its not for you to get; that includes most hip hop.
>>1221497
>criminals/rappers
That's just their culture.
>>1221572
Im not romanticizing it as much as i am just wanting the black community(mine) to atleast produce something of note.
Do you think there were any Atlantis-like civilizations in the antediluvian world? What about lost technologies?
>>1221177
Doesn't your question kind of answer itself? If there was a Flood intended to kill of prior civilizations, then there were prior civilizations that the Flood was designed to eradicate.
Did they have higher technologies, or were they more in line with genetic manipulation?
>>1221177
>antediluvian
You mean the universe that was before our universe in which the archetypes of man and animal were copied into by god?
Or the good ol americanprotestant "the grand canyon is were the flood drained into the earth 3000 years ago!" geniuity?

Is monogamy the right way? How do you deffend it?
>>1218112
If my gf started fucking other dudes I would be upset, likewise I wouldn't be comfortable doing other girls either.
That's all the justification morality needs.
>>1218112
Kek, no. There are very few monogamous creates as opposed to not, why would human beings be one (given the fact that for many thousands of years we were not)
Monogamy is a human invention.
>>1218121
You know there are birds that stay in relationships for life right?
Is there any legitimate case for Holocaust denialism? I've never seem a real discussion about this and I can only pray that it can remain as not shit-posty as possible.

Hey /his/, I found this in my grandfather's stuff and I'm curious as to it's origin and meaning. I was hoping you guys can help me out.
Already tried /wsr/ but they had nothing on it.

The back.
Also I'm fine if it isn't something big, just curious.
Just an elaborate Christian necklace. It has the Catholic cross and the the chi rho symbol on it, which are just the two first letters of Christ's name in Greek. The A and the omega or alpha and omega are common symbols too. Not sure about the 4 letters at the outside ends of the cross.
It just means your grandpa was a christian and liked showing it through the wearing of jewelry.
