Is Marxism compatible with nationalism?
>>567973
no
Sure it is.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism_in_One_Country
>>567973
As I understand it, Marxian Marxism is not compatible with nationalism but various strains of Marxism (in particularly Stalinism) are, yes.
>France favors centralization and hierarchy
>Germany favors decentralization and federalism
How true is this meme?
>>567959
Specious reductionist crap. Sounds like you're a Poli Sci major.
>>567972
Not him but both of those statements are demonstrably true. There are four German countries in Europe, as opposed to one French state. Germans gravitate towards regionalism and sectionalism, have many important cities besides just Berlin, and only actually made inroads to unify when confronted with an exterior threat. If you go to Germany or Austria today you will see regional colors, emblems, and flags everywhere, far more often than the national flag. No, that is not just because of their Nazi past causing an aversion...

>four German countries
Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and ...? Switzerland can hardly be called German.
Also I wouldn't us that as an example as thios was forced upon the 'german people', even if they are now fine with it. Luxembourg and Austria were never part of the german State (Imperial Germany).
However this is somewhat true for the modern German state and it's highly federalised Structure, which however is a result of the reconstruction after the 3rd Reich...

How important were Freemasons in the history of the west?
>>567850
What the fuck is with those names
Also do they really dress up like that?
>>568142
2hermetic4u
They were not important. Freemason is the name of a catholic person with cultural customs tied to it but has always been free to think without the fear of persecution or the need to be persecuted because they abide by the dogmatic truth without imprisoning their faith.
Do you have a historical people, period, nation or culture that you like so much that you can't stay unbiased when discussing or learning about them?
Pic totally unrelated.
i find it easier to believe in the existence of god, than to believe in the existence of unbiased discussion about the juice people
>>568644
I haven't really looked much into it, but I doubt I'd be particularly biased if I did. I totally don't care about them, I've never had any relationships with jews, nor have I been particularly muddled in any sort of propaganda one way or another.
>>568625
When I forcefeed my friends Roman history, I can't stay unbiased about this glorious era, where everything was the most glorious thing ever.
>If they call me out for my bullshit, I pretend to be biased for shits and giggles, but I'm actually srs
There have been good and bad depictions of the greatest men and women the human race has ever managed to produce.
What movie/series has your favorite depiction of a historical Figure?
I'll start
>Fate/Zero
>Alexander the Great as Iskandar the Conqueror
I feel that it does an excellent job of bringing him to life as a believable character while still bringing to life the legendary king who left his mark on history (pic related)

Why do Nippon believe in Nordicist memes?
Will always be Caesar and Antony to me.
Historie is the only really interesting historical manga I've read, that is actually interesting for the historical material. The portrayal of Eumenes is pretty awesome, if a bit mary sue.
When people talk about the greatest enemies of Rome people always mention Hannibal and the late barbarian tribes.
However in my recent readings of Roman history I have been reading a lot of mentions of the Parthians and then the Sassanids. And I have to say they were a pretty great enemy of Rome. In particular Shapur II seems like a contender for one of Rome's greatest enemies.
What are your thoughts about Shapur and the empire in general? And where would you rank them among the great rivals and enemies of Rome?
>>567700
I think the Persian Based cunts were Imperial Rome's only true rivals.
They were never stamped out and they killed Roman Emperors like silly.
Did they ever invade Italy? Did they ever sack Rome?
>>567716
No, They invaded the empire multiple times over a much longer period and also were the first to ever take an Emperor prisoner though.
Why is there seemingly so little in the way of photos and film taken by the Japanese in WW2?
I've read anecdotes in the past about the existence of gun camera footage of the raid on Pearl Harbor being lost with the sinking of some IJN flag ship, or the photos of mutilated marines of Wake Island being found amid the personal effects of dead Japanese soldiers on Guadalcanal, so surely they did document themselves.
Was it a purge of possibly incriminating evidence like the USSR and the Katyn massacre? Some cultural quirk that saw them destroyed in defeat? Or...

Are you looking for Imperial Japanese photos in English?
All can be solved with digging moar
>>567663
I'm more curious if they exist in some Japanese nation archive or something similar. It's easy to find American, German, and in most cases Russian photos in droves but it seems like there is little available from Jappan
>>567668
Much of what is out there is of pretty low quality compared to what you can find from other countries.

How did he manage to justify the holocaust to the German people? I know they were already antisemetic but it still takes a lot to go from 'I don't like jews' to 'GAS THEM ALL'
>>568329
He didn't justify it. He just started it and everyone was either too pre-occupied with the war or too scares to stand up against it.
didnt happen m8
The German public didn't know it was happening, you idiot.

What are your favorite individual ships? What is your favorite historic fleet? What are your favorite battles and battle strategies?
Also, what ship is the most kawaii and why is it the Russian 'Novgorod?'
I like submarines.
The idea of being hunted and watched in an ocean is terrifying.
Everything is calm and dandy until a torpedo hits you.

>What are your favorite individual ships?
motherfucking dreadnoughts. NAME A BETTER SHIP. For single ships, HMS Dreadnought, for paving the way.
>What is your favorite historic fleet?
Probably the US 5th fleet, also known as the Big Blue Fleet.
>What are your favorite battles and battle strategies?
Leyte Gulf, featuring the above US 5th fleet, because it was completely fucking balls to the wall.

Do you follow the Intentionalist or Functionalist school of Holocaust historiography?
>>566477
I haven't done much research at all, but I'd call myself a Functionalist. Hitler was too opportunistic for anything else to be likely, and his establishment of the sort of shifting hierarchy of underlings who tried to anticipate his desires and show him fait accomplis again argues for Functionalism.
Functionalist all the way. The Holocaust was too specific to have been preplanned from way before Nazi rule.
>>566483
Interesting.
